I just wonder if this 'father' issue will be dropped in ME3.  Perhaps.

Nah, I think it's a Chekov's Gun. As I've said before, you don't introduce something like that about a core character like Liara and have it floating about in the background, completely unresolved. I think this revelation could be quite a major plot point.

Its not like she had a longing desire to find her other parent. She got over it and moved on, there is no reason to have to find Liara's "dad".

My older brother suggested a few minutes ago that maybe it will be revealed that Liara is the immaculately concieved child of the Prime Reaper. Therefor, she will be the key to stopping them and thus integral to the part of Mass Effect 3.

Pretty sure he was joking... Image IPB

I hope we never hear anything about her "father" in ME3. I dont see the need to find her "dad" as she has moved on.

Why would you hope that? Don't you think it could be interesting, if done well?

And what she said in ME 1 didn't sound like she moved on. It sounded sad, and as if she'd like to meet her "father", or at least know who it is. Maybe the Liara from ME 2 wouldn't care anymore, but I refuse to accept that as "the" Liara. As Les always points out (and I hope he's correct), inside there's still the same Liara.

That doesn't prevent it from being reintroduced into the narrative, though. What that means is that it could potentially create more conflict or strife for Liara...

...on second thoughts, forget finding out about Liara's father. She's suffered enough as it is, I don't want any more pain foisted upon her.

She was upset, but it wasnt like she was overcome with grief over it anymore. Its just something that happened. I see no need to reunite her with her other parent.

Idk Lesenfants, the writing has been shitty so far, who knows? They may never get to resolving some aspects of each character's back story. Don't get me wrong, i would love to find out who Liara's father is, I just wouldn't be surprised if it was left out.

We have a disagreement then. I think if there were any clues, she would want to find out. I think that's normal, and you wouldn't be so casual about it in real life either, I can only assume. And Liara would be strong enough to live with the disappointment if her "father" wouldn't want anything to do with her, with Shepard's help of course (that wouldn't happen though, not in a BioWare game).

The difference between Liara and Miranda or Garrus or whoever else has parent issues is that Liara is 100% guaranteed to be alive for ME3, though. That's what makes me interested, and makes me think that the whole "Liara's father" issue could be a big plot point, Shav. The fact that we're teased about the whole issue with Aethyta in ME2, as like a little reminder, makes me think that they're keeping it in the back of gamers' minds, so that they don't forget about it.

I was vaguely thinking about Kaidan and either Rahna or his father issues, though. I can see them totally sidestepping sections of Kaidan's backstory. just saying, and just offering an other perspective. Plus I'm in a bad mood. So, may as well ignore me, lol.

I think it would just cause more grief. And I would not want Aria to end up being the father especially.

I think Liara has accepted the fact that the 'father' doesn't want anything to do with her. If she never finds out, no big deal. If she does find out and the 'father' still shuns her then I think she'll be able to handle that. She has dealt with worse in the past 2 years. If the 'father' does accept her then that's one thing that she can be happy about...she hasn't had that much happiness in recent years.

Maybe the Shadow Broker knows who Liara's father is....I bet!

SB: Liara, spare my life and I will tell you the identity of your 'father'!

Yeah, but like I said Kaidan is potentially dead. Any chance that his father issues or backstory or whatever could have a large plot impact are pretty much none, then. That's not true with Liara, any part of her character or backstory could have a huge effect, plotwise.

Don't worry if you're in a bad mood. You can vent at me if you like. :D

Good. Kaidan andAsh should be treated as Liara, because they are all equally important, from the first game, so that holds no water, enfants ;)

My opinion on that.

Nah, it wouldn't. In real life perhaps, but I always look at these things as being part of a video game. As such, BioWare wouldn't present us with an unsolvable sad situation. Not even the "new" BioWare.

But if you just can't stand Aria, I can understand why you'd rather not find out at all, lest it be her. ;)

They very much can and alomost certainly will get treated in the same way, and with a great story role, but in a very different way.

Liara's status as unkillable makes her very much unique as a character in the trilogy. She's an LI, a squadmate and guaranteed to surivive. No other character can claim all of that.

Okay, I added the Normandy to my Mass Effect 3 poster. Would anyone mind if I posted it again?
