Simply put, he's a good guy - and the decision to leave him behind on Virmire was never without perpetual guilt. Prior to ME2, I was stuck with Ashley as Shep's LI because I hate Liara's very being. However, with Tali, I have now been freed from Ashley's clutches, I have been able to choose Kaidan instead to live in all of my files going forward.

Yeah, I didn't really buy the "I'm the weapon" philosophy either. It was one of the things that turned me off to Thane. It's definitely an interesting and unique way of looking at things, I just didn't agree with it.crimsonrhodelia wrote...

Oops! I completely forgot about Thane...I don't dislike the guy, but that doesn't say much for the "compelling" LIs in ME2, does it? I don't see Kaidan as being spiritual/religious at all, since Ashley seemed to fulfill that role and if I recall the codex entry correctly, people are considerably less (traditionally) religious. I think Kaidan would have a good deal of respect for Thane, but wouldn't quite get how Thane is able to reconcile his profession with his religion...I think Kaidan, who seems to have high moral standards, wouldn't really approve of his "I'm just the weapon" philosophy.
Unrelated: I hope we get to practice our special ME1 femshep dance moves with Kaidan again in ME3.

As far as Liara is concerned, I think Kaidan would be, like my Shep was, shocked as hell to discover how much she's changed in two years!

*Sidenote* I hated that despite I was a biotic in ME and in my ME2 transfer, that I didn't have any biotic specific dialogue w/ Jack. In ME you were able to choose dialogue while talking with Kaidan about where you were trained and your implant...etc.
