I still think Liara's return in ME2 is not comparable. Romance or not - you get to to do some quests, get to find out a few things about her motivations and what not. *shreds the thought of the horrible 3 minute cameo in the air* Nyaaarrrrrrrrrrr
During my first playthrough of ME2 I deduced that I would be getting as much time with Kaidan as I did with Liara, my reasoning being that Liara, in fact all ME1 crewmates got quest time therefore Kaidan gets some questime. I was still holding out hope even after the main mission was completed.
I'm afraid that all Kaidan's role in ME3 will consist of a reunion kiss scene right at the end, with some epilogue credits stating that "Shepard and her beloved stayed together and nothing could part them blah blah"
nah, they wouldn't have to 'save the ME1 Li's " for a simple reunion kiss. If they didn't care they would have made Kaidan and Ash recruitable, have them die and be done with them. They didn't, however, even though the path they chose was rather cheaply done in ME2. If this is how Bioware treats the LI's who could have possibly died in ME1, you can bet the new LI's will get the same treatment in ME3.
It's just one line in a DLC that's otherwise well done if I'm to believe the forums. One line that, to us, feels like a slap in the face because Kaidan and Ash are the only ones excluded from the DLC. We're already shovelling crap up a hill at times in our support, or so it feels and it's the little details that would help us a lot.
Again ME2 is all about the new Li's, who will need that spotlight because god knows what their roles will end up being in ME3. But if you're going to include even Morinth in a reference dialogue, why the hell not Ash and Kaidan who deserve way more than some possible, renegade, hardly a LI, will kill you character.
