Some people can have multiple love interests in their life successfully. However, such a relationship is very hard to maintain and it never works if the other partners aren't also involved with each other (cheating = failure; 'weird polygamous love triangle' = works okay). However, I doubt that BioWare is going to dare make that offer; they will insist that Shepard pick one or the other no matter how artificial the break is. I do hope that they at least give an option for the third party to at least still be friends, even if they get rejected.

Oh, and good afternoon everyone.

I agree with the fact that wanting to kill the first LI just because of Horizon, or because they feel jilted by Horizon is stupid. But, even though I personally, was irritated at the character, I realized it was totally within Meghan's character to move on for far more adult reasons than my need to slap Kaidan. ;) (To be honest, I wanted to run Alistair through. Hats off to Bioware for making me have such strong reactions to two very different men.) It really does suck she can't tell him so, though.

I hope they're not going to be that cheap about it. All three legs of my triangle deserve respectful treatment, not some High School Musical pout fest.

Well Bioware said there will be consequences. Unless they just mean that the two love interests will quarrel or disagree or something, which isn't really a consequence in my mind, it seems that they are going to go beyond choosing between them. Then again, they could just mean that the consequence is that you can have both of the same time (really, other than Liara, no love interest would be okay with that).

I know what the consequence will be! They'll embarrass the hell out of you!

Kaidan: Does she still do that thing?

Garrus: What thing? You'll have to be more specific.

Kaidan: THAT thing, YOU know what I'm talking about.

Garrus: Ooooh, THAT. You... didn't teach her that, did you?

Kaidan: Hell no, but I want to find out who did and thank him.

The one thing I don't want to see is a fight between both of the LIs. That seems to be a what a lot of people are cheering for: New LI literally beats old LI up and then the old LI is left in a bloody heap while the New LI claims the "praaahzzeee".

I mean, how old are people... 13?

I'd hate this too. I can understand something like this if the characters portrayed are very young, but I'd expect after two rounds of saving the universe, the people on Normandy are mentally not in junior high.

If BW is consistent among games they will just make you choose between the ME1 and ME2 LI like you have to in Dragon Age if you get too friendly with multiple LIs.

And that would be an awesome way to bring party banter into the game!

The usage of consequence leads me to suspect it will more than just ME1 choosing between two people. Something like you can't continue the romance with the ME1 people if you have one in ME2, or perhaps worse? The former is more likely, it seems, however. Considering how the relationships are largely on hold, having another romance interest can be the nail in the coffin for the ME1 romances. I could be wrong though.

I really want party banter in ME3, it's one of my favorite things about DA.

This one I would hate to have in the game it would just be cheep and disguting in my mine to see Kaidan on the floor like. I would start screming at the other Love Interest myself. No woman likes it when they fight there ex for the prize.....  Are they like Jacob? <_<

This is why I am going to have a romance free option to start with a romance with Garrus.

Why thank you very much. <3

I must say, my first playthrough, the man had me pulling out my hair with his Illusive-ness, but I have a respect for him too.

I will, too, but I want to keep my triangle to see what happens. ;)

Understood.

But these people that go in whining about the whole thing and saying, "I hope I get to kill ___ because I don't like them anymore and my feelings got hurt etc" need to have a reality check.

And I still think the devs are trying to force some situation that they have planned for ME3 by the way they make it impossible for Shepard to make a clean break with the old LI. That's the frustrating part. It also ties in with their whole, "we think everyone will cheat because the new LI are so compelling etc" thing.

I honestly think they want everyone to 'cheat' or 'move on' or what have you because there's something that's "omgesuperawesome" that they want to have in a lot of people's games.

Doubt it will be that awesome though, have a feeling that if you cheated on kaidan he might just need to be recruitable and by that fact you're going to miss out on specific intel or resources he alone can provide (read : won't have access to some cheesy weapon)

They said there would be consequences, but I doubt the Alliance will refuse aiding you because you cheated on kaidan or something big like that. And what would it say about Kaidan if he refuses to help simply because you cheated on him in a personal relationship while still doing everything you can to aid old allies?

Thus I'm wondering what this mighty consequence could possibly be after they tried so hard to make you cheat in ME2 (and failing miserably for me)...hmmm. Maybe they'll take away that black dress....

Okay so yes I'm still cranky ;)

I think the consequence will be someone will be not too happy with you, or they will have to choice in a death type of way to win their heart back

I'm strongly against killing off the rejected LI. It'd be completely negating any "consequences" to Shepard's actions of moving on to someone new.

You wont be able to marry and become queen if you cheat on Kaidan! Well honestly it could be a similar consequence. To be able to get the super romantic, kids and live happily ever after you have to stay faithful to your ME1 LI. If you did pursue another romance in ME2 you get a decent ending. For many (especially if you read the LI threads on DAO boards) that would be reason not to cheat and a heavy consequence.

And yea, the attempt to make you cheat on Kaidan with very "tempting" ME2 LI's failed miserably for me too. I'm on my third playthrough on ME2 and still havn't completed the romance achievment :P

Especially with Kaidan or Ashley, I would be hella pissed if they decided it was possible to kill both of them in the end, just because they had the misfortune of being the human squadmates in a sci-fi game.  Much like Alistair in DA, just being human, and having human personalities and flaws, put a big target on their heads.  Let the Virmire Survivor get to the end of the trilogy, please, it's the least you could do for fans who are still really bitter and resentful that we had to make that choice, while ME2 fans got to save everyone.

I would like something like this. I would even feel it was worth the lack of Kaidan in ME2 if Bioware can give me my super happy ending for my faithful Sheps:wub:
