I seriously, seriously hope the consequences are significant.

Not in your infidelity causes their death, significant. Or a brawl in a cabin significant.

But a - Kaidan/Ashley/Liara move on once they know you have and do not join the party (maybe functioning as plot important NPCs instead) type significant may work.

I'd hate the "okay Shep you snogged me in ME1, and you snogged Thane in ME2, who is your final choice? Me. Good to know. *Smecks scene*."

I'm not saying ME2 was a bad game, but I do prefer ME1 in terms of story and characters.

This.

I've done 2 ME2 playthroughs and it didn't capture my attention like ME1 did. ME2 feels like a long laundry list of stuff to do. They give away the "plot" that the Collectors are working with the reapers in the first mission and then it's just a bunch of things to do.

This is the fate that awaits all those who are disloyal to Kaidan in Mass Effect 2:

Or X0-chromosome fabricated in my case :?  Not that I can claim responsibility for anything besides the fully-armored Kaidan hug.

Awesome pic!  I still vote for cheaters get neither LI.  Although I suppose depending on your interpretation, you could say that taking a new LI when the relationship is on the rocks is more like breaking up with Kaidan than cheating on him, in which case it would be logical to suppose that you would be left with the ME2 love interest and not get the chance to rekindle the romance with Kai-Kai.

The animation in ME2 had quite a few messups...

Sad that Ash and Kaidan both went crosseyed in their brief cameo.

I'd say in most cases at this point in the game the animation is pretty spot on.

@Joisan - I'm with you, cheaters get nothing. although I don't think this will happen simply because of the outrage from the Tali fans who cheated on Ash or Liara for her, plus the rest of the LI fanbase. ( I single out the Tali ones because they seem to be the most vocal, lol)

Yeah.  Like I said, I think it'll either be nothing or else you are left with only the ME2 LI.  I just don't see Kaidan or Ash being willing to take Shepard back after he/she jumped into a relationship (and most likely into bed) with someone else.

i would agree with u

but since there was no option to break up and some people didn't like me1 li (they could always not romance anyone but i heard that this was hard to do - something about forced romances)

i don't see the reason to punish anyone

I just hope that the thing will not end like fort said that bioware did this all on purpose (no me1 li, no option to break up) to have some interesting plot twist

but yeah all cheating on Kaidan should pay :)

The teaser trailer would include Ashley, not Kaidan, unfortunately.  <_<

But, Sia, if we saw Ash in a teaser trailer it would tell us about Kaidan as well.

You guys are harsh on the cheaters.:o The way I always thought of it was: in ME2 the relationship's already over. Granted we have metagame knowledge that it's not quite the case, but shep doesn't. It's not really about cheating or not but about how ready shep is to move on. IMHO.

And I just lost my train of thought.  What was I doing?  Something about an article in Nature?  Oh, that's right, I have to finish my reading for the discussion in Microbiology tomorrow.

Well, the fact that they supposedly kept the ME1 LI's out of ME2 to keep them alive, means that they do very likely serve an important plot purpose.  Liarashidan are all determined/ethical-type characters, so I can't see them refusing to do whatever the important plot thing is just because Shep did a face heel turn in regards the romance.  (too much time on TV tropes today! whee!)  Which means, I'm afraid, that the 'serious consequences' are likely to be some cut scene confrontation.  I'm hoping they come up with something better than that, however.  Cause, seriously, that last option?  Shep picks, and LI's are ok w/anything...  uber-awful.:P  Plus, oh so been done before. -_-

I view it as the relationship is "on the rocks".

Just because you have a big fight with your SO does NOT mean that it gives you the right to go screw around with someone else. They never said it was over. There was a difference of opinion and a fight.

IMO, Shepard ought to be mature enough to hold off on breaking up (if that's what is desired) until the mission is over. That way everyone can talk like rational adults. If the other party isn't willing to talk things though (highly unlikely) then there's nothing more Shepard could have done.

We like your random stupidity.  3am seems to be good for you.  So, yeah... share?  Pretty please with extra Kaidan's on top?

You know, plenty of characters cried in ME2, manly lizard angst tears to Jack.
What if by cheating you make Kaidan cry? :crying:
Or Ashley and Liara? :(

I hear you. I guess I just see it more as, unless they say the relationship's still going on, then it isn't. With the lack of an option to break up, and the way Horizon/Ilium goes and people talk about the relationship like it's all in the past etc. It's easy to see how my shep could assume it was over. Even my faithful shep thinks he's likely lost Ash, he's just in the moping stage. Once the suicide mission ends, he probably won't put on pants for weeks.:P
