To be quite honest, I prefer humans, often, and I'm still scarred by having to choose on Virmire.  I don't blame the OP there for having a bad reaction at first.  I'm far more annoyed by people who write off humans who aren't XTREEEM and edgy  as boring.  Aliens aren't automatically awesome, in my humble opinion.

Virmire pissed me off. I wanted to know why I couldn't send someone else. Ash and Kaidan had been with me from the beginning. Honestly, I think it's a shame that everyone's antagonizing the OP rather than trying to talk to them about it. Just because they found out the "old news" doesn't mean it didn't shock and upset them. I remember putting down the game for a few hours while I thought about my decision.

Of course, then my brother told me about there being an apparent romance option and I went, "Sorry Ash, dicks before chicks..."

People are being too judgmental on Ashley. You may disagree with her views, but the most important thing - her being a good person is there and in full force. Even though she was the one left behind on virmire, I still felt sorry and it was a tough choice.

It took me a while to pick the aliens, especially Garrus. I remember seeing him for the first time and thinking, "What is that cricket.... thing?" But he does have a great VO.

I agree people are way to judgmental of Ashely it kind of sad she is a great character. I too was hurt when I had to choice between them, since I always romance Kaidan in the game she had to get Vimmired.....

Back to the Ash/Kaidan choice ...

On my first playthrough of ME1, I didn't talk to Ash at all. Ok, maybe once. I had no problems pulling her plug on Virmire.

Then my second playthrough I actually took the time and talked to all of my squadmates and found I actually quite liked Ash. Like others have said, she didn't push her religion on you. She distrusted the non-human crewmembers but she wasn't rude to them or hostile. I felt bad leaving her on Virmire.

And great. Now I'm going to start referring to Garrus as "Cricket". lol

Morning all

About the human crew post. First time I ever played ME1, I was like "I'm going to kick everybody's butt with a human squad, just to show them what we can do". Then I ran into Garrus and the moment he introduced himself to Shepard I was doomed. So my human squad was down to 2 and the turian with the lovely voice quickly became my Shep's buddy.
To quote James Earl Jones on Sean Connery's AFI award thing "it's the voice."

It's all that stress and grief of losing Shep that aged him... but aged well.   I do miss his stubble though.
