Would a marriage ending even seem... fit in the Mass Effect games?

I'd just be happy with a "Shepard and Kaidan riding off into the sunset to kick ass together" ending.  If people want to imagine that they get married later, that's cool, but they shouldn't force that on those who don't think of marriage as the ultimate happy ending... (like me)

My thoughts exactly.  Though Becca is right; I wouldn't want a forced Whedonesque ending either.  Having the option there for those that want their angst is one thing, but honestly.

On a related note, I'm thinking of trying deliberately to get someone killed in my playthrough with my colonist/war hero who is going to be my second canonShep, Joanna.  Now to decide who... hmm...

Jacob.

Someone that means a lot to Shepard, like Garrus.

I was thinking of Garrus too, but for different reasons.  That means I would have to skip his loyalty mission... I guess I could do that.  And maybe I'll kill off Miranda and Tali too; I did always want to see how handing over that evidence plays out...

"Weddings? I love weddings! Drinks all around."

I think if it was Zoe/Wash type relationship, I could handle them being married. I hope I didn't just jinx the ME ending by comparing Shepard and Kaidan to them.

And if they were doing a wedding. I'd imagine it being very, VERY simple. Like, sweet, paper work, two rings, and "Hey Captain Anderson! Can we borrow you for a sec?"

I am getting so tired of the angst. I tend to hope that we get a chance to marry our love interest.

It's funny reading through some threads with people gloating about how they killed virtually everyone on their squad because they hated them and never want to see them in ME3.

The ME2 squad never really interested me thought. I thought they were kind of dull, but that is due to just getting too know them. I hope in ME3 they flesh out the characters a lot more than what they did in ME2.

Everyone surviving for the win. I don't hate anyone on my squad, ME1 and ME2. Morinth doesn't count because I never recruited her nor would I ever.

I've known some people who did that, but I let the characters I play be the ones that make those kinds of decisions. My cannon Shep was Paragon and did everything so that everyone would survive. My pure Renegade character is a xenophobe who is okay with some "acceptable losses". Garrus and Grunt were the only non-humans to survive.

QFT

I'd have to say the most interesting side missions for me were the ones for my returning squad members, Tali and Garrus.  First of all, it makes more sense for me to do favors for them.  They've stood with me before.  And if you stand with Shep, you never stand alone.  Second of all, you get to delve even further into already developed characters.  You knew Tali loved her people and little bit about the flotillia.  You understood Garrus was a little frustrated with C-SEC and red tape.  And both their loyalty missions built on existing story and characterization.

Pretty much all of the rest were daddy problems.  Miranda, my dad doesnt' really love me.  Jacob, my dad abandaned me.  Thane, I abandoned my son.  Samara, I want to kill my daughter...hmmm...one of the devs seriously needs a hug.

Nameless dev, have a hug on me.  *hugs*

I see that too. I also see people that want a chance to kill other characters they hate (eg: ME1 LIs).

There are some ME2 characters that I dislike for various reasons. Depending on my mood, it'll range from hating the character to being generally ambivalent.

But I don't find my dislike of the characters to be reason enough to kill them off. I want to see where it's going with them; more importantly, I want to see if Bioware can change my mind about the characters that I dislike.

Well, Mordin did talk about his nephew, so they must have some familial ties.  Or that was just a writing slip up...

None of the new ME2 characters really annoyed me to the point where I wanted to kill them.  Not even Jacob - but I was more annoyed with shep than him anyway.  There are a couple of ME1 characters that I wouldn't care if I never saw  again, but the one that I could have killed off in ME2 still survived anyway.  Never know if I might need what they will bring to ME3, lol
