Yeah, very repetitive and the constant 90 degree angles got really annoying.<_<Collider wrote...
ME1 sidequests had good story elements some/most of the time, the problem was that their gameplay was often just about the same - go to the same mercenary base and kill stuff.

Very true. For example, I really enjoyed the Dogs of Hell/Cerberus quest chains, but going into the same base three times per planet and then repeating that on several other planets got boring as hell - especially in second, etc. playthroughs. For that reason, I think I prefer the side missions in ME2, even though they weren't directly related to the plot.

On a Kaidan-related note, you may be pleased to know I have been making good progress in video collecting. I may be ready to start editing as soon as next weekend depending on how much time homework takes up, or the weekend after at the latest.
Sweet!!!
There needs to be more renegade Kaidan videos too. In case you're thinking of a second project... you know...

One of the reasons I haven't played ME1 more than I have (completed it 3 times) is because of the Mako. I love the game but I can't stand leaving quests undone ... and I just can't stand the thought of driving the Mako on mountainous planets /sigh
There's actually a path on most planets that winds around the steep areas. The only place I haven't been able to find a good path so far has been on Eletania when you search for the prothean orb.

So fitting those pyjaks come from there, isn't it?
After the 5th planet or so I just want to go straight, to hell with doing the winding path - which, given all of the mountains would probably turn out to be the fastest route but I'm stubborn.

Just going to do all the main quests?legbamel wrote...
I'm running a total Renegade on ME1 right now to import and I only just realized that I don't HAVE to do all of that driving around, looking for insignia and minerals. Huzzah! Less scaling of mountains and more finishing my quests.

It's very exciting, isn't it?
Are you going to renegadeize Kaidan to match?

I didn't even know that I could. Is there some specific dialogue or secret trigger I need to pull. Erm, scratch that last. It sounded dirty. Not that I'm averse, you understand...fortunesque wrote...

I'm going to be doing side quests for the XP, but not the really tedious ones.

To renegadeize Kaidan, you need to disagree with him on his view on aliens. Keep disagreeing with him until you get a charm/intimidate check. If you fail the check and still disagree with him, you'll end up breaking up.
Depending on how you play your Shepard, it can work very well. My main femShep (Faith) is renegade, and she renegadeized him. It's less of hating aliens and more like "the council is completely incompetent and we need to get them in line".

Edited to say: Thanks for the tips. I may be too far along in my game, but I'll see if the opportunity arises. I can't remember which conversation was last.

This isn't going to get me a more aggressive Kaidan who'll invite me to his tent a lot sooner, is it? Oh, wait...
Nope.
But he gets more angry at the Council, especially after Virmire.
K: If they're not going to do anything, they should get the hell out of our way. It'd only improve things if the Alliance was in charge.
S: They don't want to face up to reality. They want the whole galaxy to believe that everyone is as cautious as they are, that nobody can surpass their power.
K: I hope they'll wake up after you pull their nuts out of the fire.
