Kaidan's booty warrants a fan group in and of itself... :P

@stephee - I'm afraid after those 2 motivationals you have no choice but to come out of the shadows and join us in the gutter. You fit in so well with the rest of us, lol

Welcome Stephee! AWESOME motivationals! Very nice, very nice indeed! <3

Just amused myself in the ME Haiku thread, put this together:

Hot black dress for Shep!

Stays faithful, keeps pic on desk

No date 'til next game

Bed time for me! Bye, all!

Goodmorning all and welcome Stephee. So many new faces lately, which is awesome :)

Love the artwork and posters!

About renegade kaidan, I watched the vids and despite it not being my thing, I think it was well done. But I never played a renegade Shep either, for some reason I always found it a bit over the top in ME1.
I prefer goody goody Kaidan though :P

Morning, Jho!
Me too I can't bear the idea of changing that wonderful man I have done 1 renegade play through, and Trinity Shepard had a hard life which made her a little harsh at times, but she still did the right thing whenever it really mattered :)

Evening all

I tried to do a renegade playthrough with my femshep but just couldn't do it. I managed to get through with Sheploo but he didn't romance anyone so I didn't have to worry about what he said, lol. The renegade options were definitely better in ME2 though.

I could never bring myself to renegadize Kaidan, it just didn't seem right somehow, lol

I am such a goody two shoes in ME but when I realised that in 2 you get renegade points for apparently no reason sometimes *shrugs* and that getting through the game with a totally empty renegade bar is impossible I have given in to temptation and always 'fry', the Batarian mechanic in Archangel recruitment mission  :innocent:  In for a penny............

My 100% paragon Shep occassionally chooses the renegade option if it fits the situation.  I figure someone with her experience is going  to do what she has to to get the job done.  She may be a paragon but she's not a gullible fool and it makes tactical sense to take out that mechanic before he finished fixing the gunship.

Speaking of doing the right thing. What if.....what if Kaidan wasn't just a cameo and you DID have the option to recruit him for the suicide mission, would you have?

I could say I would do the right thing and leave him behind to save him but I wouldn't. I would take him along and do my damnest to keep him safe.

The endgame would be so much more angsty and nerve wrecking had Kaidan been at your side. And yet totally awesome at the same time.

I can see him responding to Lilith getting smoothied and him gently supporting Chakwas as she's pulled from the pod.

Shepard diving after Kaidan, calling his name while reaching for his hand to save him like Sheploo does with Tali. (still wonder why femshep doesn't call out to the one she saves, is it romance only?)

But I would feel horribly guilty as well, knowing that RP wise, it would have been better to leave kaidan behind...argh....how torn I would have been.

@Jho - I'm selfish. I would have brought him along. I need him in my squad, it feels too weird not to have him there. I managed to get everyone else out alive so I would have made damn sure that he survived, lol. Plus theres always the reload option if I fail, lmao

What I find stupid is that we couldn't recruit Kaidan because they didn't want him to die, yet sheps that romanced Garrus or Tali have no such problems apparently.  It was quite alright for their love interests to be put in danger on the suicide mission.

Anything to have Kaidan in ME2... But at the same time I wouldn't want to put him in danger. Perhaps when it comes time for the suicide mission Shepard could convince him to go elsewhere (e.g. the citadel) saying that she is concerned for his safety and doesn't want him to die. If he DID come on the suicide mission however then I'd ensure that he was by my side at all times.

Maybe you have inadvertently stumbled on why Kaiden, Ash and Liara aren't recruitable in 2..................
I can see BioWare writers sitting there going ''So........ Suicide mission *drums fingers* anyone can die *continues drumming* even Shepard *twitches nervously* means the player can kill off Kaiden/Ash and Liara *plays with coffee cup and bites upper lip* so what say we erm................ *looks shifty*''
''Come on dude, spit it out''
''Well, I was thinking, yeah.... *hopes for divine intervention* that, erm''
''Oh for crying out loud man, what??''
''Well how about we give them a crappy cameo to prevent the player from killing them, save em the bother of choosing whether to take them kind of thing *looks worried''
SILENCE...........
''Wait? What? You mean those characters we invested all that time on in the first game, the one we encouraged the player to fall in love with?''
''Erm *unsure* Yeeeeeesss?''
''That's bl**dy brilliant.............''!
:P

@Sesh so you don't RP your Shepard then? I know there's always reload and there's knowing you can get everybody out if you play things right. But still, you're taking the man you love with you on a suicide mission when you have the chance to keep him safe. Would it be my bf (who would refuse to be left behind) I would tell Grunt to knock him out and leave him ;)

@ Rose While I would love to be able to recruit Kaidan and then tell him to leave to keep him safe. I don't think Kaidan would do so, there would be some major conflict I'm sure but he'll end up going with you in the end I think. So yeah I would keep him close.

Could very well be, how many of us would have left kaidan behind? Very little I think, if just to have him with you throughout the entire game. Bioware made that choice for us to ensure his return in ME3...then again it's so easy to keep everybody safe. But I like to believe Bioware looks at it from a RP point of view and thus it wouldn't be very logical to take Kaidan with you on a suicide mission.

@ Sesh Garrus and Tali weren't your LI yet, that blossoms while getting ready for the mission so there's no reason to leave them behind other than not wanting them in harms way because you care. Kaidan is an established LI already, it wouldn't make sense. All from a RP point of view ofcourse.

Would I have recruited Kaidan? From a metagaming POV, absolutely. The ones I keep with me can A) Kick butt and B) are the ones I know I can keep alive.
From an RP POV...If my FemShep were to leave him behind for his own good after she'd been dead for 2 years...Kaidan would never forgive her. That relationship would be over. Obviously my FemShep didn't trust him enough to be at her back, didn't respect his combat abilities or trust that he could help her fight. It wouldn't matter that she was just trying to protect him. He isn't a child and he isn't fragile and if she couldn't respect that...obviously she doesn't respect him.

hehe same here. But again it's so selfish. What if on your first playthrough you make a wrong call and Kaidan dies? I would be screaming at my tv screen and then hit reload ofcourse, but still...he dies because I was selfish...and I can only be so selfish because it's a game but I also know my Shepard wouldn't take him along.

Bah :)
