I have a question... Since Kaidan is the only squadmate who Shepard knows from the before the beginning of ME1, how long do you suppose Shepard and Kaidan have known each other for? Do you think they first met in the Alliance? On the Normandy? If I had to hazard I guess I'd say they'd have known each other 1-2 years before ME1 took place.

They've known each other before the events of ME1?? I got the impression that the first time they ever met was on the Normandy during the Eden Prime mission.... is that not true???

I think they met for the first time on the SR1. I think Kaidan states he's only known Shepard for 24/48 hrs prior to EP

Yeah, I believe Kaidan met Shepard on SR1. But anyway, he is his/her oldest and I guess closest friend.

Considering that Shepard asks Chakwas about Kaidan and doesn't seem to know anything about his implants and migraines, it is a fair assumption that they only met very recently, although not sure why she asks about Anderson, they clearly know each other, my guess - pointless exposition?! ;-)

It's hard to say how long Shepard and Kaidan have known one another. On the one hand, the Normandy is explicitly on its maiden voyage at the beginning of ME1 and most real-life military vessels do not have carry-over crews from previous ships. Furthermore, there's the aforementioned inquiries by Shepard about Kaidan with Chakwas, which indicate that s/he doesn't know Shepard that well.

On the other hand, Kaidan and Joker seem to know both one another and Captain Anderson pretty well based on their initial banter at the end of the intro cutscene. And I always got the impression that Shepard also knew Anderson pretty well.

I'm tempted to think that Shepard's known Kaidan longer than just ME1 and ME2. But, as I said, the proof's in the details and there just ain't many details.

Not only the banter, but the fact they seem to have a working relationship in all of Shepard's later conversations with Anderson. These two definitely know each other well, imo.

Morning all, love all the new avatars. Ohhh and lovely screenies of Kaidan to wake up to. Voted on all polls, odd to see Kaidan spike in the survivor one when he was just getting a few random votes before. Someone is mobilizing I suppose. Oh well in some polls he does great, in others not so much and before ME3 is out we'll have voted on a few hundred more polls I'm sure lol

Unh...how do you know you get too much involved with ME stuff?
If two (different) people at uni ask you for the way, you tell them, and afterwards you think: "Yay, Paragon +2". I actually caught myself doing that today. Mind you, I hadn't had any access to caffeine...
