Morning all, how are things in th gutter?

*random rant before going for a facial*

I saw in another thread Kaidan being compared to Jacob with Jacob being ME2' s Kaidan.

Kaidan is nothing like Jacob and not just because of the cheesy romance. I like Jacob as a squad member, there is almost no character that I dislike, and I like taking him with me on missions but the only thing in common with Kaidan is that they are both human males and possible LI's. I especially dislike it when people say that they hate Jacob only becuase he is ME2's Kaidan and they hate Kaidan.

*end rant, because I am already getting late*

Kaidan is safe for now.

Trying to get my xbox live connected but it's being stubborn today and I want to play mass effect on that tag...darnit. Need to get through ME1 without being distracted by Kaidan and nudging him every few seconds just to hear his voice

Good morning Kaidan thread!  

I'm not a big fan of Jacob.  Don't hate him or anything, I just didn't find him that useful as a squad member, and the way Shepard interacts with him is a little creepy.  I agree, though, that he doesn't seem to have much in common with Kaidan apart from being LIs for Shepard.

It's the same thing for Carth and Kaidan...Kaidan got the most hate because people just saw him as Carth, whom they hated. They had their mind set on not liking Kaidan before even starting to play the game. They hear Sbarge, go "omg no, it's whiney Carth!" and dismiss the entire character all together.

Why Jacob is getting the same treatment I don't know, most likely because people need someone to hate and Jacob is the general human male LI. Well one with some cheesy lines but that doesn't stop them comparing him to the human male LI from ME1, Kaidan.

At some point I wondered why people weren't doing the same for Miranda or Jack with Ash who isn't generally well loved either. But I think boobs might have something to do with it I dunno.

It's their loss really, I've seen a bunch of people changing their opinions of Kaidan after getting to know him better so those who don't...well, can't like everybody I suppose.
Just don't get why someone would hate, actually hate, a character. Every member of Shepard's crew is designed to aid Shepard in one way or the other, they are not the enemy and do their best to help the hero of the story.
You can dislike someone's voice, you can dislike a certain dialogue but why hate?

I've seen people hating Kaidan for the most silly of reasons and I truly hope they don't treat RL people the same because you can basically go on hating pretty much everybody if you judge someone over something so small as not liking his eyebrows, or the way Shepard has to carry him away on Virmire, or the way he looks at you, or the way he rubs the back of his neck or whatever.

It's like the army of people who hated on Miranda pre-release because they thought she was ugly. A lot of that hate washed away the moment she unzipped her suit and showed her bra...but still...wth is wrong with people lol

Sadly, the way it works is that anything virtual can be hated with passion and nobody has to fear consequences. The people that get off by trolling, flaming and hating... tend to be people who don't really have much joy in real life.
I was able to observe that a bit, while working at the edge of the industry.

And of course, let's not forget the anonymity provided by the internet. 90% of the people trolling and hating would never dare to say the same thing to someone they were facing in person. It's mordnern cowardness and at the same time they feel very... 'manly' if they can bash a virtual male character. Tells ya a bit about personalities, no?

Bit sore still but I'm painkiller free. I hate taking meds, they always make me feel so groggy so I try to avoid them as much as I can. Which also means they knock me out whenever I do use them.
It's more of a general irritation of the whole area now instead of the sharp pain and throbbing I had yesterday. Dentists suck indeed.
