Confession...I rarely ever took Garrus and Tali as squadmates in ME2...having them along just continually reminded me of the ME squad members that were not there...and that was not only Kaidan...I missed Liara as well.
I wound up using Mordin and Samara most of the time. Samara is over the top(in my opinion) the best biotic in ME2(the scene at the end if you use her to do the barrier blows me away every time). And I loved Mordins Cyro blast.
At first I was cool with Garrus, but over time I started to resent him (and Tali) for being on the squad and having a loyalty quest, and romance, while the character I really wanted wasn't there. It's unfair, but Bioware drove me to it.

I also had a problem with Garrus's motivation this time around; killing mercenaries for no reason other than the fact that they were being paid to do a job? Why didn't he have a problem with Zaeed being on the team then? And was he positive that ALL of these mercenaries were horrible and deserving of death? Mercs aren't all just blood thirsty murderers, many were probably glorified security guards. And if Garrus had become so judgemental, what made him (or Shepard, especially when Shep is being renegade) so much better than the mercs being killed?
Maybe I'm looking too hard into the story, but Garrus started to grate on me, and seemed like a big ole hypocrite from my point of view.
