I'm pondering a fic idea (yes my friends, all your excellent stories have inspired me). I'm wondering if anyone has seen information on communications devices. I know there's email (like you, Jho I ran to the computer terminal every time I got back on board the SR-2 looking for more email from Kaidan!) But what about when you're living on a station? I recall Liara using some kind if interoffice comm to talk with her assistant, but how would you call to make a doctor's appointment for example?

yay, I'm glad you're finally going to write a fic.  You have good ideas, lol

As for communication my brain is not coming up with anything other than the sort of thing where in ME1 Shep put a call through from the Normandy to her mother.  I would imagine there would be some kind of system like that on a station, sort of a more sophisticated, personal intercom system.   Sorry my mind is in silly mode at the moment.

I choose Kaidan. I liked Alistair but Kaidan is and always will be my first video game love! ^_^

I prefer Kaidans romance.  Just because it seemed forbidden at first.  It was the flirtatiousness of it.  And since the Horizon event, it is even more desirable to me.  Wanting what you can't have sort of thing.  Plus, I find him sexier.

I choose Kaidan over Alistair as well.

Alistair is sweet, but he's less zen about things than Kaidan. I appreciate Kaidan's extremely calm nature. He's a lot more experienced than Alistair.

I like Kaidans romance. Its a lot harder to win him over and get him to drop his guard. I like the way it builds up with the subtle flirting and that you know he watching out for Shep and has her back. Alistairs is fun but its pretty easy, just talk to him nicely, give him a few presents and next thing you know its tent time, lol

Kaidan's also very much the "guy next door". That's one thing I love about him; he's so refreshingly normal.

Not too much to add, but, THIS! Alistair is the type of guy I'd have had a big crush on in high school. Kaidan is the kind of guy I'd love to meet now.

I like Alistair's romance, but the thing to keep in mind, is that he and the Warden are /young/. So, while it's sweet and romantic and adorable and fun, it's also... hmmm... melodramatic? I'd be exhausted if falling in love at almost thirty had the same dynamic. The Kaidan romance, while it has less content in ME than Alistair does in DAO, is an actual mature romance between adults. And thus it is lovely, and if ME3 delivers the content so there's /more/ of it, than it will certainly be my favorite.

eta:  Just to clarify, Kaidan is still my favorite, but I like how much more there is to Alistair in DAO.  And I totally agree w/Fort... Kaidan is spectacularly, wonderfully, deliciously normal.  Plus magical-biotic-techie.

I had a neighbor for 11 or 12 years that is virtually really similar to Kaidan and his personality. They even have the same looking hair, it's disturbing. >_>

Very much what Jilly is saying. (And Crimson too). I adore Alistair, and when I play DAO, there's pretty much not much beside him, but I have a hard time with a character that isn't a Cousland so far, and for me, the Warden is barely 18, so there's that whole epic fantasy first love thing going for them. Melodramatic and head-rushing. I love it, but at the end of the day, I wouldn't want that for me anymore. Good for a fantasy, but something more Kaidan speed, much better for where I am now at 27.

How old is Alistair supposed to be anyway? I peg him at 18-23, most likely 20. 26 at the most, but I know he isn't THAT old. (Not that 26 is old... :innocent:)
I always sit down and bug myself about stuff like ages and heights of characters. I need to get a life.

I'm just now experiencing the Alistair romance for the first time - I'm having so much fun with it, haha. I haven't finished yet so I don't know who I prefer, but I think you all make a good point with the age distinction and first love/later love difference btwn the two romances.

Also, new fics posted!

In my head, I always think he's around 19 at the beginning of DAO, and my Wardens are also around the 18-years range.  I don't think there's anything that specifically gives any of them an age, however.

Trying to find out Alistair's age is very difficult because the toolset lists him at his original age he was intended to be, 32, before they decided to change him from the veteran Warden to the barely not a fresh recruit Warden. They never specify his age, and the only speculation we have on how old he may be is based around an unnamed child in The Calling, which would make Calien about 9 years older than him (and place him to be about 16 if he were that child).

Hee!  I know where your mind is at present.  Posted Image  Right now I'm just calling it the comm but if I can't find anything I guess I'll have to come up with a clever (?) name of my own.

I just finally assumed that femShep is about 5'9'' and dudeShep is 6 feet

Which means all the females are 5'9'' and all the males are 6 feet tall, then. Bah.

@Brij: NP, you're welcome. Though, if you're going to be expanding your contributors, you might want to consider tagging your entries and adding a tag cloud and/or search function, so people can find something in particular even if they can't remember the title and/or author.

And reading Lord Zeuss' stuff, and popping over to the Ash thread, really makes me want to write an A/U where Ashley and Kaidan both survive, and something else dreadful happens on Virmire, cause I miss Ashley.

http://dragonage.wik...istair#Confused -  I pretty much just read that and gave up trying to figure it out and just assumed.

If he was 16/17-ish.. Seems a bit too young for him even if just a few years, but if it was made law that he was, I guess it'd still fit for me, at least.
