I just can't compare Alistair and Kaidan - it's just worlds apart, and each character is adorable in his own way.

Hahah... oh man, Alistair always gets me to laugh. Especially with his conversations with Morrigan. I feel bad for him, but at the same time I am so amused. "Let's talk about your mother..."

Did you read Sesh's "dreams" fic? http://writersblockf.../dreams_19.html it's about all 3 of the Bioware LIs.

@Kioux: Alistair is ridiculously adorable. I like the romance tracks better in DAO than in ME, they put so much more detail into the characters and their interactions. And every once in a while he gets Morrigan to back down instead of the other way round.

@Jilly: I'd love to see more random banter in ME3, depending on romance status and who you brought along. Having Garrus and Tali comment on the odd behavior of Alenko and Shepard would be an interesting feat - on the other hand, if not handled right, it could be totally overdone.
But I just needed something lighthearted and listening to Alistair comment on Leliana being a woman is the perfect thing.

I wish that in ME1 you could have talked to Kaidan more like you can with Alistair, I know in the ME universe they were trying to portray it as a relationship that quietly takes hold within the restricted confines of the Military structure but since I had played DAO before ME1 I kept going to Kaidan after every time I'd been off the ship to see if I could get anymore dialogue out of him.
I hadn't played ME1 originally, I picked up ME1 once I found out Sbarge voiced Kaidan while poking through the BW stuff pre-ME2 release, since I was already a big fan of his from KoToR.

Uh, yes... um, *curses stoopid username* I guess 'flaky' will be fine (and is better than 'nut', right?!)
LooooL... I actually think nut is awesome! Man that almost caused me to spit my coffee all over the keyboard.

Thank you
I hadn't done any creative writing in 20 years before I started with the ME fics so I've been on a steep learning curve over the last week. Many of the thread regulars who write fics have been spending lots of time with me explaining how to improve my writing so I'm fixing the first 4 chapters before I move on to chapter 5.
I'll have something for my reviews to look at in a few hours, reworking the middle section of chapter 4 which is the part where Kaidan's out of medbay while Shep's in surgery. Chapter 4 actually was the strongest chapter I think but that middle section still can be improved.

@Kioux, I'm probably the only Alistair fan on the planet who hasn't managed a female noble run in DAO yet, but I'd have to vote for female mage, for Cullen, who's fascinating, for all his appearance is much briefer than one would expect from the amount of fanfic about him. Tormenting templars ftw? Or something?
I love the part when Cullen’s behind the barrier and he’s going “why are you torturing me with my deepest desire” (or something along the lines) and my mage is like “uh I don’t think I should be hearing this”

LoL, yeah I always like the mages origin play. Cullen running away because he is so embarrassed was so cute. But I also like the female human noble... I tend to cry my eyes out during the origin, lol.
And then there is Alistair's comment on the female city elf (if they have the romance going) which is incredible cute. (Once you get into the alienage).
I also love the female Dalish origin - I cried over Tamlen as well...
It's horrible for me to play those games when I am all emotional, lol. DA seems to have more random jokes but also more drama in some cases - of course besides Virmire.
I still think that I would have ignored all regs and pulled Kaidan into a hug after Virmire - he's all shaken. (I am staying on topic... somehow

And then, there's also not that much emotional reaction to the fact that a member of the primary ground team died as well. There's one argument w/the Alliance Virmire survivor in the briefing room, and a bit in follow-up, but not much, and even less with any of the recruited alien squad members. (Though the dynamic is a little different if you haven't picked Liara up yet.)

I was so disappointed with the level of reactions possible after Virmire. One, I wanted an argument for my actions based on the mission, rather than just "I had to chose". Such as "I had to protect the bomb" or "I had to get as many of us and the Salarian team out as I could". See, that took me 5 seconds to think up.

Totally agree - I mean they were both willing to sacrifice their lives and I do think that it has a major impact on someone, especially if they are chosen to survive. And Kaidan isn't someone that would just let it slide. I mean hell, he still thinks about what he's done to Vyrnnus... Vyrnes... the Turian instructor he killed. Having Ash die - I think that that'd cause a great deal of turmoil within him and would need a lot of talking.
Ah well... lets see what ME3 has for us.
P.S.: Do you belong to the Jowan hater faction?

No, I don't hate Jowan. The one mage I've played was disappointed in him, however, and turned him into the First Enchanter instantly, as she was quite the stickler for the rules. (She also despises Morrigan, and helped Greagoir w/his Rite as she thought saving the mages was too dangerous. She is not getting along w/anyone so far. I have to play her on easy level, cause she keeps killing off potential companions.

Well I am going to get some ME in before I have to go to Brunch with Mom and then meet my brother and a friend it the Star Trek Online universe. Boy, Sundays, full of familial duties (and yes I am a grown woman who's elderly mother lives with her. Luckily my brother lives in Texas)
You make that sound like a bad thing. If you all get along... at least for the most time, it's a good thing, at least from my point of view. Anyway, enjoy your little stop in Star Trek... I hope you can enjoy it without constant ME comparisons, lol.
Your right, it isn't that it is a bad thing, we get along fine really. It's just that it cuts into my ME time.
In fact we are leaving now to go to Brunch. It's at an inn by a river in the county. There is no cell service there which means I lose contact with you guys too. Aaaah the things I do to make my mom happy.
Well talk to you later... enjoy the day!!!

LoL, I can see how that might turn out a bit difficult.
My mage was loyal to Jowan - and also offered him a chance for redemption later on. Hell if it had been after him, he would have recruited Jowan into the Gray Wardens. Then again, my mage also ended up with Zevran and had stronger feeling for Jowan than he would ever admit.
It's like fanfiction - finding about the different characters, I think it's exciting.

Yes, this place is like an additiction, hehe.
But - I'll make it short. Enjoy your day, enjoy a (hopefully) nice weather and the Brunch. We'll still be here when you get back... (which tells a lot about the current state of my RL - ah well).

Ooh, yes, I love the different spins its possible to put into the characters. I've seen some startlingly different takes on ME characters in the variety of fan fiction I've come across as well. Some of then I have no idea how these people apparently played the same game I did...

@shenzi - yay more chapters, lol. Keep working that material.
Hmmm not sure about how he would be proposing. The ME2 Kaidan seems much more forceful than he was in ME1
Think he would keep it simple, nothing to fancy, nothing spectacular. Simple and intimate. No long speech or anything. He might be blushing, but I think he'll be determined.
And I need to stop melting this much, can't be good
Agreed! I could see them waking up together on a random morning, smiling at each other for a moment, before Kaidan kisses Shepard and just tells her, "Marry me".
