@Jho:  Gorgeous work, also as usual.  (Dang, this thread is talented.)  Should save several and stare at them for inspiration while writing. 

Though, really, the current problem with the latest chapter is the title, so I should just stop poking at the thing and post it.  Don't think my re-reads are helping it get any better any more...    What to call it though.... consummation would definitely raise hopes a bit higher than the actual content deserves, yet for some reason I can't think of anything else... :innocent:

Thanks guys!!! Can't really put a "picture of death" when I think I killed the thread cause I am on my Iphone at work and I have no idea how it would work. I do know I can't quote or edit from it. Stupid too, cause I obviously can't type on it. If you see posts where it seems I can't spell at all you know why.



Was thinking of going to play ME now that I am home, I want to get my Adept up to level 60, but kind of stalled because I got to thinking of this story yesterday and had to write it down. I learned how to do video from the game and was practicing that too. Got the one before Ilos one and kept watching it over and over.

Funny yours was one of the fics I was reading tonight, trying to get through the night and I was hoping you were going to add soon.... No hurry though.

Yay, thank you.  And it will be up today sometime, I'm determined.  I just need one last run-through, and a title.  And, a big thanks to Jo for the title ideas, which fit surprisingly well considering she hasn't read it yet.    (Though, despite the fact that they think they're better, I don't think they're completely reconciled yet... maybe.  Will have to see if the next chapter does what it's supposed to or not.  So far it is, but that doesn' t mean much at this stage.)

Just dropping in to say good morning, everyone! Jho, thanks for the new pic, and I would be *very* interested in seeing your take on a Shepard/Alenko wedding (don't think it's necessary in game, but I imagine my canon Shep getting hitched after the threat of the Reapers is long gone). I'm pretty sure I have a ton of fan fic to catch up on, so hopefully it's quiet today at work. Yesterday was crazy. =P Boo, Mondays!

How did you pick characteristics for your Shep, strength, weaknesses, personality quirks etc…Shep maybe a super solider but she’s still human and needs all of those to be realistic.

I was just wondering because once I’m done with writing my horizon fic from kaidan’s PoV I’m going to flip it around and write another one from Shep’s PoV starting with the moment the Collectors ship takes off from Horizon and I’d like her to be believable.   I know her origin as a colonist origin will play a role in that but beyond that I’m struggling a bit with it.

Since I'm writing Shenko I figured this was on topic

I found I figured out a lot of my various Shep's personality quirks while playing the game, and then adding some backstory to reactions to individual missions.  Like, my colonist Shep still talks to her mom in her head all the time, even though she's been dead for about 13 years when the first game starts, and has a nasty temper, and doesn't trust mercs (so no Wrex in her games, which is rather traumatic for *me*).  And some of it is just brainstorming while writing... asking questions that don't necessarily have anything to do with the bit you're trying to write, but help you figure out how your Shepard reacts to things.

Like, my Shepard fell desperately in love with an older boy at the group home on Elysium after the Mindoir raid (so much non-canon in that sentence) and it was messy and melodramatic and painful for lots of reasons, which is why she learned to be reserved and mostly casual about her relationships as an adult.

Any of that ramble useful?

The Shepard memorial on Elysium, for Shepard's of that origin, perhaps? (Think it's that one, on the news on Illium, I think I heard it say it was one of the most popular wedding destinations )

Actually it is .

I listen to a lot of broadway recordings and the other day I had the Lion King in and while listening to "Endless Night" I thought the emotions in it were appropriate to my Shep, that she was possilbiy a daddy's girl before she lost her family so maybe I'll pursue that train of thought a bit and see how it would impact her.

I'm already into A/U so if I to ver off the beaten path a bit it's not a problem.

My Vanguard was the most unique out of my ME2 characters so that might be a good starting point for breakstorming.

@Jho: I don't picture them having a big wedding; my Shep is not much of the wedding planner. I can just see the two of them alone together. Eden Prime would be my location. The place where it all began for them.

For my Shepard, a small, private ceremony in Vancouver (since she doesn't have any remaining family of her own) outdoors.  Nothing fancy, and no uncomfortable shoes.  She and Kaidan are both private, reserved people, so they would first float the idea of just going to a city hall or other official setting, just to get it over with, but they'd decide in the end to share the day with their friends.  Joker would have to be the maid of honor.

The personality of Meghan Shepard was something that evolved over time. She's ruthless, but tries to be a good person. She let Kaidan be her moral compass, however, in ME1, which wasn't a good thing for her. (Which reminds me, I need to address that.) She acts out of anger way too often and has a lot of things to be angry about.

As far as weddings go... I can't imagine Meghan getting married, no matter who she ends up with in the end. Avery would probably prefer something simple and rustic.

I think my Shep would get married aboard the Normandy where there would just be crew and no reporters. I can't see her wanting a big fancy shindig and she would definitely hate any hype surrounding it.

Can't really see a big wedding with a couple of hundred guests and media attention either for Kaidan and Shepard. I dunno yet, so many pics I still want to do but can't since my muse isn't cooperating. But that's not a bad thing, still a long way to go till ME3 after all.

hmmm, wedding choices would vary a lot depending on the Shepard, though I can see both Eden Prime and Vancouver being top choices. Small, intimate ceremonies do seem to be the general consensus however. I think my colonist Shepard would actually want to go back to Mindoir, make a joyful memory to help remind her of the good things before the attack. *shrugs*

The Shep in my story depends an awful lot on which one I'm using as a model.  The shower Shep was based on my paragon run so she's faithful to the core and never even considered anyone else.  Then again, why would she when the reward for being true to Kaidan came so quickly?! 

The one I'm using now is my paragade Shep, a badass with a heart of gold if that isn't too cliche.  She makes tough choices and kicks ass when she has to but she still agonizes over them in private.  She relied a lot on Kaidan as a sounding board and that's what's led her into trouble on the SR-2.  (If you're interested, I just posted Chapter 4.  I had intended to do the whole mission in one chapter but got distracted by character dynamics and never did get around to the "good cop, bad cop" scene.)

I have no idea what I'm going to do with my renegade.  The game turned out so very, very awful that I had to start over with her and try again.  All of my friends were making the Turian "all humans are racist" claims come true.    I just can't be mean enough to get the renegade achievement.
