Well, what happened is that my prof greenlighted my ideas and liked everything I did as I did it. Then, at critique, she loved my project and said that she liked what I did with the type etc. I get it back today and I got a B- on it and was told that I should consider not submitting it for my portfolio because it's a weak concept and that what I did with my type was bad etc.
...what? That's so incredibly messed up! I'm sorry to hear that.

I'm really sorry to hear about it Fort.
I hope you're going to talk to the professor and ask her to help you understand the difference between her verbal and written opinions. I think it's important that professors be responsible for the input they provide students; that it's consistent and credible and then aren't unless people are willing to ask questions. I've done it before several times and it's been pretty useful.

That's weak sauce. It's one thing to tell someone you don't like what they're doing to their face. It's complete cowardice to tell someone you like their work to their face and then give them poor marks behing their back.
I'd take it up with the class coordinator or whoever is above her. Lay down some law. But take a friend as a witness with you. I almost got in serious doo doo in college over a similar argument that the teacher didn't take well. Helps to have some sworn statements that no you did not get all crazy like and insult them.

I talked to her already. She's not changing it. That's why I'm angry.
Ugh. That's really really frustrating! I'm truly sorry to hear it.
Was she at least able to explain the inconsistency in her feedback to you? One time I had a professor do something similar -- public feedback was positive, private (written) feedback was not. When I asked about it she basically acknowledged that her style is to focus on the positive in verbal/public comments. She'd never really thought about the mixed message she was giving by having very different types of verbal vs. written comments. This happened to several of us actually. Amazingly she apologized to us and the next project's feedback was much more consistent.
Perhaps we can get BECC to pod her. And I volunteer to help.

Nope. She acted like she didn't give mixed signals. Honestly, I think she smokes too much weed or something. She's very... spacey.

BECC is also a teacher. So she could explain HOW you supposed to mold young minds and then mold your prof's pod goo into some cute shape that you could use a paper weight.Star58 wrote...

Ooh, Stardust, we should have a paper-writing party! I am on page 6 of my 8-page paper that's due tomorrow.
