@shenzi - yeah I'm crazy. at this very moment I have 2 open, one random stupidity and one that takes place after my reunion fic. although I think I've just about given up on both of them tonight. I've been sitting here writing a random sentence in each one all night, lol

Speaking of eyeing Shepard a lot...Kaidan just pacing a bit while Shepard talks. At least Ash pretends to pay attention....Kaidan has other things on his mind :P

Morning all.

I'm usually only focusing on one, but I have... five WIP's at the moment? Two ME, one DAO (that I haven't looked at in over a month, so I'm not sure it still counts as in-progress), and a couple PnP RPG character backgrounds. If I'm having a bad day with one, I'll work on another, but generally if I'm hopping stories I don't get much done in any of them. It seems to be a semi-necessary part of getting my brain going, however.

WIPs: I just updated The Rescue, and there's always the Captain's logs and I have two original novels in the works.

No, I don't know how I keep them all straight.

Morning all!

On the subject of writing multiple fics at once, I currently have three that I'm working on. One is what was meant to be a longer ME story that I started a while ago, but haven't come back to for a while. I also have an ME oneshot and a Battlestar Galactica 2003 oneshot in the works. Wish I had more time to work on them all.

Well it can get a little confusing. I usually have 2 or 3 fics open on my desktop and jump between them depending on my muse, lol. Usually I'll be in the middle of writing something in one and then it will trigger something for one of the others so I jump over to get it down before I forget it, lol

lol Well I applaud you, I would go nuts ;) Then again, it would be a shame if you forgot yummy Kaidan stuff in the process.

Aren't you guys ever worried you might end up writing the same story as someone else and then have that person post it before yours is finished? I mean so many people writing Shenko, all in their own style ofcourse, but still....
And yet I haven't read two stories that are the same...excellent ^_^

I notice that no two people go throught the game the same so it goes to follow that it would be extremely rare for 2 fics to be alike.  I am sure that some parts will be similar, but some parts are different.  I love reading how someone else deals with a situation and think about how I would deal with it.

I am writing my own fic (to entertain me) at work while I wait for the phone to ring or an officer to need me or an ambulance to page or a fire truck to page ... or you guys to write on the thread..., you get the idea. And every once a will be writing something and a scene will come to mind that doesn't work in the fic I am working in but might work in another one so I have a random note window open up and it has whole scenes and little notes and anything else that comes up while I am writing.  I don't usually have more then 2 fics open at once but they are usually the one I am working on and the one that is a crossover based on the one I am working on.

Once I week I read through my random notes and see if anything will work in a fic or if anything needs to be hashed out.  So far I have been lucky that what comes to mind is usually needed somewhere.  It helps me if I get stuck too!

@Nightodie: I frequently have a 'brainstorming' window open too, for random stuff. Or to rant some gibberish in if I can't think of any useful words.

@Shenzi: coolness, will take a look at chap 5 shortly

For fans of Standard Issue Life, Kirjailija has started a new one: Traces of Life.

We should get a new chapter of Exitus in a few hours if Sinvraal keeps to the same schedule as usual.

TY my wonderful betas for notes on Chapter 5, I'll be digging through them in about 1/2 hour after I'm done seasoning my new wok. Need to make sure I don't burn down the house.

Although I still HATE Horizon, I agree, there was nothing that Shepard said in that scene that gave Kaidan or Ashley a reason to abandon the Alliance and go to work for Cerberus.  I'm pretty confident that the Virmire Survivor has not forgotten the threat of the Reapers, but it's reasonable that they haven't forgotten the horrible things that Cerberus does, too.  If I could have taken my Shepard to the Alliance and gotten my position back, I would have done so immediately.  It was horrible writing and railroading that prevented this, and didn't even explain *why* we couldn't even try to work with the "good guys".

We know that the Council feels that way, but Anderson doesn't, and we don't know how Admiral Hackett or other influential leaders of the Alliance military might feel.  If they had given us a scene where we went to the Alliance, and they told us off the way the Council did, then I would understand more.  And then we could have explained that to Kaidan/Ashley, and THEN, and only then, would I be fully pissed that they wouldn't join my team, or at least listen to more of my story.  But the game didn't give us that, and left a huge plot hole instead.

I can pretend that my Shepard sent a message to the Alliance, and was told that they were cutting ties with her, but that doesn't make up for the bad writing that makes using my imagination necessary.

At the end of ME 2 If Shepard has cut all ties with TIM she tells him that she is doing things her way now.  I am kind of hoping that her way is getting everyone on the same page where the Reapers are concerned.

Starting with Kaidan (Ashley or Liara) of course

They most likely left most of the details out of the game for the new players, otherwise it makes little sense to me. Too much of a background story could have scared away new players who had to deal with dialogues trying to find answers to problems they didn't even know were important.
This is why I don't like making each game stand on its own in a trilogy so it appeals to both old and new fans. For Bioware's sake I hope the whole shooter with babes feel of ME2 got them a lot of new fans, because it sure made them loose a few points in my eyes.

I wanted more information, more of a continuation of the story we started in ME1. I felt like a bloody hero at the end of ME1, was so damn proud of my Shepard. Then ME2 came and Shepard dies, which was a bitter pill to swallow but we're also forced to work with an organisation I spend a great deal of time fighting in ME1 without any explanation as to why the Alliance is no longer an option. Sure, people in the game keep telling you they left the Alliance because after Shepard dies they did nothing etc etc. But that's third party information. I wanted THEM to tell ME why. Just because Shepard rolled off the operation table with a Cerberus stamp on her ass, doesn't mean she IS Cerberus. I find it lazy writing to just make everybody else in the universe believe you are working for Cerberus without even giving Shepard a way of explaining herself. Not to the man she loves or even her own mother.

But again ME2 is about the new characters with a new fighting system on a new Normandy. With a Shepard I often don't recognize as that hero I grew to love in ME1. That became even more obvious on Horizon. Not only do we deal with a Shepard we ourselves have to justify in some way to make it tolerable, but we also see Kaidan suffer from being the generic Virmire survivor AGAIN. As if the phoenix armor wasn't enough. The whole scene could have been so devastating if Shepard was at all believable, but she's not. She's generic Shepard with simple dialogue so new players don't feel left out. Kaidan acts like he's supposed to, Shepard is just reading her lines.

Throughout ME2 Shepard and her team depends on the information that only TIM seems to have. I don't know why he has these sources that apparently the Alliance and the Council do not but without Cerberus Shepard and Kaidan would just be cruising around the outer rim looking for Geth and hoping to bump into whatever is abducting colonists. I hate it, but that's how I see it..

Oh, and I've posted Chapter 6 of Those Lips.  Most of Chapter 7 is written.  I keep trying to make Shep open that message from Kaidan but she keeps getting pulled away and distracted.
