Just a little tease from my upcoming fic:      Even the peaceful, park-like environment of the Presidium did little to improve her mood as she passed through it on her way back to her apartment in the Wards.
    “I hate politics,” she announced to no one in particular, popping open a can of beer and taking a deep sip.
    Her husband, Cris, appeared in the kitchen doorway.  “The meeting was bad?”
    “Oh, it was wonderful,” the captain replied in a tone dripping with sarcasm.  “They wanted to make me an admiral.  I said ‘no way’.”

Yup, now that you mention it, you were the one that put the name in my head.  I was flipping through new arrivals and was like, "Oh, someone on the Kaidan thread said this was good.  They're on the Kaidan thread so they MUST have good taste."

I'm now addicted.  The show is going to spread through the thread like a virus.  And it's all your fault.  I hope you can live with yourself Shenzi.

Joss was also one of the original writers for Toy Story, just think of how Buzz and Woody could have turned out!

It's sad that during the first few episodes I looked at one of the corpses and thought "I wonder if that's what Shep's corpse looked like when Cerberus recovered it."

I think it was Sinvraal in "Xun" that talked about one of Shep's old mentors from the N's who was promoted to admiral status but still went and did field work with the line something along the lines of "you can put an N behind a desk but you can't keep them there".

Ooh, I can give you a teaser from Random Stupidity 3 which I still don' t have a name for.  Its very rough & hasn't been beta approved yet as its still incomplete :


Shepard walked into her cabin. She was tired, cranky and hung over. I need a shower, then bed. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sound she couldn’t identify. What the hell is that noise and why is it coming from my bathroom?
She pulled open the bathroom door and was momentarily engulfed in steam. As the steam cleared she realised the image of a naked, singing Alenko was in front of her.  Damn, I must be more tired than I thought. I’ve just walked into my very own personal fantasy. Except for the singing, she thought as she stifled a giggle. He had his back to her and she spent a moment checking out his ass before beginning to back slowly out of the room. I’m sure he has a good reason for being in my bathroom, but right at this moment I really don’t care.   He turned suddenly and they both froze.

Joss Whedon wrote wrote 25 issues of Astonishing X-Men, which were great, but he didn't have a schedule, so the comics took FOREVER to come out compared to other, regular comic series.  His run on the comic was very centered on Kitty as a character, which makes sense, since he has always called her his inspiration for Buffy, but of course things ended...badly for the couple.  Because he's Joss.  And he hates his fans.

I think I might go play some ME. I am afraid to go back to DAO. That darn Ogre keeps killing my team.

Is he any good at it?  With all the talk about Joss I have the picture of Angel singing Karaoke (and horribly) in my head.  Angel liked to sing Barry Manilow songs.

As for 'Bones' - I love that show. It's so funny and at the same time it has some very intense moments; also great display on opposites working together and learning from each other.

I also came to love 'Lie to Me' and I am a secret sucker for 'Supernatural'. Ah well...



Now I got Chapter 8 done as alpha, will eventually need people to beta read it but I don't think I should do that before I wrote Chapter 7... *sighs*

Here's something that may have been discussed before but a comment in a post earlier got me thinking about it again. Someone said that Shepard and Kaidan's father would probably get on well until he found out she was a biotic. Obviously not all Shepards are biotics but here's what I was thinking about.

I know that Conatix tried to separate the families from their children by making the families afraid of the biotic abilities their kids had. However I was always under the impression that Kaidan was still on good terms with his family. Just from from a random comment Kaidan made on Noveria - he said his mom told him he should bring a sweater (which is a completely mom thing to say). And didn't he mention that his father was proud of him when he joined the Alliance? Unless I'm just imagining that but I could have sworn that in one of the earlier conversations he mentions that.

I don't know, I was just always under the impression that Kaidan still had a good relationship with his parents and that being biotic didn't bother them so it wouldn't necessarily bother them if Shepard was biotic. Also I would think that if he did have family issues he'd have mentioned them.

I get the feeling that he probably talks with his family but isn't very close to them because he doesn't talk about them much at all. Perhaps after BAat he had something to prove with his dad, more so than the usual "son has to impress dad" thing.

People are kind of mixed on this.  Some think that Kaidan's relationship with his parents is likely somewhat distant.  Others suggest a happier relationship.  I personally have never really gone there... A lot of people seem to give Kaidan siblings, though, myself included.

Now there's something we haven't talked about that I recall: why does everyone want to give Kaidan siblings?

I'm under the impression that he doesn't get on with his father. In ME1 he says something along the lines of he made his father proud....eventually. So I was always under the impression that his father might consider him to be a bit of a freak especially after he killed the taurian at BAaT.

I gave Kaidan a sibling in Parallax because I wanted to provide a contrast and an extra reason for tension in the family. I figured that the fact that she's not biotic and is extremely social would make her the preferred child.

I think those are both good points.  In my case it was more the second... that and I was looking for someone that Kaidan might trust enough to confide in re: Shepard after Horizon.

Darn it now I have to go replay that part in ME1 to see what exactly is said. Pretty sure I have a save close to that point. But I can't for at least 2.5 hours /sigh

Not too sure that his father would consider him a freak for killing a turian though. I mean, his dad might not have been in the war but he had still been Alliance - you know patriotism. Unless they just told him that he killed "someone" and didn't specify that the person he killed was turian.

Chem, hopefully I'll have it ready for beta -ing this weekend if I get the peace I need to write it, its about 90% done.  Unfortunately one of the teens decided that they wouldn't go to their fathers this weekend because of too much school work.  But he seems more intent on bugging me every 5 minutes than doing any school work, lol
