Not too sure that his father would consider him a freak for killing a turian though. I mean, his dad might not have been in the war but he had still been Alliance - you know patriotism. Unless they just told him that he killed "someone" and didn't specify that the person he killed was turian.

I was more thinking that his father would consider him a freak for being a biotic, especially an L2 who seem to go crazy and probably don't have that great a reputation.  Its quite likely that the taurian part was hushed up given that they were doing it on the sly without council approval.

I don't know, I was just always under the impression that Kaidan still had a good relationship with his parents and that being biotic didn't bother them so it wouldn't necessarily bother them if Shepard was biotic. Also I would think that if he did have family issues he'd have mentioned them.

People are kind of mixed on this.  Some think that Kaidan's relationship with his parents is likely somewhat distant.  Others suggest a happier relationship.  I personally have never really gone there... A lot of people seem to give Kaidan siblings, though, myself included.

Now there's something we haven't talked about that I recall: why does everyone want to give Kaidan siblings?

I got the impression that although there may have been problems at one time, that he and his family were close because he says his father was proud, eventually.  That told me that although they had issues, they worked them out and he obviously talks to him mom.  The fact that he mentions them to me says they have a working relationship at least.

Besides there is that beachfront property to consider people !!!!


My Shepard is a spacer and she talks to her Mom and they seem to have a good relationship too. I wish we knew more about her dad though.

I gave Kaidan a sibling in Parallax because I wanted to provide a contrast and an extra reason for tension in the family. I figured that the fact that she's not biotic and is extremely social would make her the preferred child.

I loved the family dynamic you setup in the last chapter of Parallax.   Parents are expected to love their children equally and unconditionally but that’s not always the case. I think it says a lot about Kaidan’s character that he came out of both BaAT and his family situation with his sanity intact.

I haven't really given Kaidan siblings much thought, although I can possibly imagine him having an older brother or sister. My spacer Shep is an only child.

That mage has a craptastic set of spells, make it easy on yourself and download the respec ring mod so you can give him a heal spell.  Problem solved.

edit - DAO does a lousy job speccing characters, I always wind up dumping all the talents and rebuilding them.

If he had siblings I would think they would be older. Only because according to the timeline Kaidan was born in 2151 and the First Contact War was in 2157. So Kaidan was 6 and his father had already retired to Vancouver. Of course, also according to the timeline the Alliance charter was signed in 2149 so the Alliance was only 8 years old by the time his father retired from it.

Humans are also living longer than they used to. With that in mind, women could be having menopause later in life, thus making couples able to have children at an older age.



Thinking about that, I decided to give him a younger sibling that was born while he was at BAat. He couldn't talk to his family, and his mom got the baby urge because she missed him.

Thanks Sesh and Shenzi I will try it again soon and keep that in mind. I am finding the system very hard to use as I am playing on a pc. It took me a long time to figure out how to move them all at once since I thought they would just follow like they do in ME ... yeah that was a big duh.

Okay I am sorry, I just started the game right, I can't get him to say more then we have to light some fire.  And okay so I thought that was who he was, but I wasn't sure yet.

Okay and I have to get used to the  pause button.  I will figure this out.  Hey is the top line always the Paragon response, oh yeah and what is this about gifts?  This is very confusing.

It may just be a side effect of the whole Vyrnus incident but Kaidan's personality SCREAMS older brother to me.  Very no nonsense take responsibility for everything and everyone... 

I also don't think he has a poor relationship with his parents.  I wouldn't cite the "mom told me to bring a sweater" quote because that's just a colloquilism.  Th "eventually" could very easily stem from a parent's natural reservation at their child entering the military.  It doesn't matter how patriotic you are or even if you've served in the military, you're not going to want your kid in harms way.  Heck, I'm third generation military and my parents STILL didn't want me to join.  It's heard instinct.  Protect your young.

Rotating days off we move back 2 days every 28 days so that would be a permanently off kilter schedule. 
for example I just rotated to Thursday Friday, and in 3 more weeks I go to Tuesday Wednesday.  Our boss doesn't understand our job and she is heavy into "Because I said so"

And Just to stay on topic....

I don't expect much in the way of Kaidan with downloaded content, but wouldn't mind being able to send / recieve an e-mail...

NIghtodie, there isn't a morality scale like there is in ME so no Paragon or Renegade. What you have instead is invidual companion approval ratings and they will go up and down depending on who is in your group when you take certain actions or they will go up and down depending on how you respond in conversation with them. You can have a conversation with Alistair before you go into the Korcari Wilds but after you get to the Tower you can't have a convo with him until after you're done with the tower.

The gifts are meant to increase your companion approval outside of conversation or your actions.

Since your character is not voiced in DA then whatever you choose is exactly what you say, unlike in ME where what you choose is only in generalization of what Shepard will say.

You're not bothering us at all!  And I was just teasing you, BTW.  It's a great game and you absolutely should play and enjoy it.  If you need help, I'm sure there will be half a dozen or more willing volunteers here.  No, there's no particular magic to the arrangement of possible dialogue responses.  If Shenzi doesn't explain about gifts, PM me and I will.
