Here's an awesome quote from Jayla, a Liara fan. It was spoken in regards to her writing, but could just as easily apply to the writing on Horizon: We all think that whatever the intentions of the writers, they rolled a metaphorical 3 with their d20. In other words, Critical Fail.

Now that's how I need to phrase it for my husband to make him understand how much Horizon sucked.  He would understand it in DnD terms.

But a metaphorical 3 wouldn't be a Critical Fail. That would be the nat 1.

I don't think the writing on Horizon was a critical failure. I mean, it was terrible, and obviously a failure, rolling the 3 is an apt comparison. A critical failure would be like Kaidan running around in Phoenix armor on Horizon and him holding a picture of Captain Anderson.
