I actually just find all of the femShep ME2 romances far too cheesy and/or cringeworthy for my taste.OdScIs wrote...
the thing is with Jacob is that he calls you "The Prizeeee"
And if Shep knocks Jacob back when he comes to her cabin, the whole button pushing thing really just makes me want to throw up.

Even say... Jacob?
Granted, Alistair, Kaidan, and Carth are all sort of in the same territory as far as LIs are concerned, though they're all a lot more distinct than I think some people give them credit for. Other than the voice, I never thought of Kaidan as a Carth clone. And Alistair's certainly something else.
All nice guys, though.
Re: Jacob: Only to mock him and his overdeveloped abs.
And finally! Someone who gets it!
*approval snip*
I have heard that Jacob's romantic dialogue (and Shepard's, in that particular romance) is horrendously bad, but enough on that.
As far as Carth and Kaidan are concerned, I actually do like Carth better as a character. He just seemed better developed to me, though that may be in part because I hanged around KotOR Fan Media for several years and got to read all kinds of detailed examinations and discussions on his character. So my perspective may be lacking.
That said, I thought Kaidan was a great character and a wholly different person from Carth, aside from the voice and a few generic characteristics (they're both gentlemen officers who nonetheless can pull of a tough guy vibe). All three of my Shepards liked Kaidan well enough, though for different reasons. Both of my m!Shepards saw him as a close friend and confident, who they could rely on to watch their back. My infiltrator, ended up saving Ash over him though for personal reasons, which was one of the hardest decisions he ever made. For Michael, Garrus ended up largely replacing Kaidan. My vanguard, on the other hand, ended up saving him, so they're still close, though I expect that when I import him for my ME2 run with him that things might get unpleasant on Horizon.
As for my f!Shepard, she tried to romance Kaidan but I think she scared him off frankly. Never managed to renegade the guy, so they just went their separate ways. I'm not sure it would have worked anyway - I played her far too cold and professional. I imagine she'll give him a verbal lashing to match his when they meet again on Horizon.

So would I. Not to mention that Saul, his mentor and the person he looked up to went over to the other side. So I can understand his lack of trust in someone he's just met that was on the mission at the insistance of the Jedi, and who he knows nothng about.jillyfae wrote...
I've never understood the whiny Carth comments either. He only complains about not trusting you because you keep harassing him about his history, and won't take no for an answer. I'd complain too in that case.

Do you think Kaidan would be the artistic type? I definitely could see him appreciating art, but I don't know if he would be the type to cultivate the skills to make it...

Renegading Kaidan is my favorite. Have you tried it successfully at all?

To the Carth vs. Kaidan ... yeah I see them as different characters too. Carth seems more volatile - not that he's more prone to violence just personality wise he's more likely to get in an argument with the pc or disagree. Whereas Kaidan comes off as more controlled - though this could be simply because Shepard is his commanding officer and it's not really a good idea to yell at your CO. Of course, there's also the yelling he does on Horizon
That's what I always think when I get to that part - oh good, I get to be yelled at by Kaidan again /rude BioWare.

Nope.
I know it's possible, I just sucked at doing it
Always Paragoned Ashley though - well, except when I was playing my f!Shepard.
My three Shepards are as follows:
Paragade Infiltrator
Romanced Ashley ME1, Tali ME2
Saved the Council in ME1, destroyed the Collector base in ME2
Paragon Vanguard
Romanced Liara in ME1, haven't played ME2 with him yet
Concentrated fire on Sovereign in ME1
Renegon Soldier
Romanced no one in ME, haven't played ME2 with her yet
Let the Council die in ME1
And, yes, I'm aware that the paragade and paragon Shepards look like they should be switched. That's just how it turned out.

I played a mostly renegade fShep that renegaded Kaidan but made major paragon decisions (saving the rachni and the Council). It's much more fun to mix things up for rp reasons IMO

Yay - less fluffy Chapter 7 is out!
Since nobody likes my jokes - have a depressing scene. Hurray!
Thanks
Glad to see that it seems to be alright despite the sad tune.
*waits for next chapter and ME3*

Read this earlier tonight when I saw the email come through, I enjoyed it, not every chapter needs to be uplifting

I concur with this. (Especially since none of my ME fics have been particularly uplifting.
