:lol:Well you've got to give them an A+  for persistence...but isn't it kind of like beating a dead horse. Kinda makes you wonder why they've got to do it over and over and over and over....

I actually found the marriage/counsilor ending to be a bit forced...they've only known each other for like...a few weeks? On my current playthrough, I'm just going to remain in the Wardens with Alistair. It's the ending that pleases me the most. I'm all about freedom.

No, what seems like weeks to us is actually months within the game. I think it might be because you insta travel through the map, to them that's weeks of traveling to one place to another while it may just feel like days to us as players (or if you want to be technical minutes.)

Still, they don't seem to know each other THAT well. Even Alistair refers to the thing in a surprised manner, even if still being happy about it. But yeah, I guess it's up to us to fill in the holes between travel times.

As for Kaidan & Shepard "belonging together"...can't they belong together without marriage? Why does it have to end in marriage? More and more people stay together their whole lives without ever getting married. Then again my view on marriage is very biased given the fact that I stopped believing in it when my parents split up when I was 19  but still...at least give us the choice of not doing it and still remaining happily ever after.

It's just....in today's world you REALLY shouldn't force a player to marry the guy if she wants her character to be with him. That's almost like...forcing an atheist to convert into a believer because Ashely believes in God like if Ashely wouldn't accept you if you don't believe. It's not as serious but it's compareable...

Of course it's just a game but since it's roleplaying game...*shrug*

Mutiple options would be a good thing. That's the reason I'm thinking that Bioware will give multiple endings like with DAO or at least I'm hoping. The shooter element of the game is the only thing that makes me wonder...we couldn't role play as much this time around.

Yeah that's me. My parents divorced when I was 3, and I got to see them move through different relationships my whole life. I think the whole thing is a mess, therefore I'm still not married, I've been with the same man for 10 years, we bought each other rings 4 years ago and tell everyone we're husband and wife, it helps that legally in Canada we are.

But that's marriage to me, telling to each other you'll be there for each other  no matter what happens. We've broken up before but we have never ever left the other in the dust, it's always been about mutual support as lovers or friends. Again that's marriage, not a 5000 thousand bill and a white dress. :P
One day maybe I wouldn't mind a ceremony, but it's going to be low key and private, I just don't understand the need for a huge display.

But again as for the game it would be nice if BioWare gave us many different endings, some may get a wedding, or proposal and some may just get the ship in the sunset thing.. ^_~

Actually, thinking about it, I'd just really like a nice acknowledgement of the romance in the ending. For ME1, if your love interest wasn't in your party after defeating Sovereign, you wouldn't see them at all, and then the ending scene is just Shepard with Udina and Anderson. In ME2, you're too busy looking at Reaper data and walking past your surviving crewmates. At least the post game cuddling is a step in the right direction.

For ME3, I'd really like to see a cutscene at the end with your love interest, that at least hints at a future together. No PowerPoint slides or narrator talking over drawings, please.

I'm having a difficult time imagining my Earthborn Shepard settling down into a "traditional" marriage. I can't even see her being a mom. She's like mom to her crew in many ways, but I can't see her pregnant and mothering a baby. I can see her taking a break from saving the galaxy and enjoying the time spent with Kaidan.

And what of the Shepards that romanced someone else? How will Shepard/Tali, Shepard/Liara, Shepard/Garrus work? Bioware would have to leave the post-game open to interpretation. Marriage and family is going to have to be in the realm of fanfic.Though I suppose there could be a few dialogue options around "where this is going" in the game.

You put it in much better words than I did. :) If there was any kind of marriage to be, I'd picture it as some kind of low key thing on board of the Normandy which only the people closest to them would know about. ... Which then would be followed by Joker yelling for people to not throw rice on board of 'his' ship.

Besides... imagine it... The first human specter getting married in public? They'd have to hire the whole Urdnot clan and have Garrus perched on top of a building with a sniper rifle and sedative ammo to not have a riot of reporters try to disturb the whole thing.

I think what it comes down to is : Will they recognize individual LI's or will it be one generic scene? I can see Kaidan proposing, sure, but can't imagine Garrus doing the same etc.

I believe the ending scene could be just Shepard with her LI in some intimate scene that has a lot of closure to it. Mainly because they can swap out characters and yet keep the dialogue the same. Despite me not objecting to a proposal of sorts (would love it!), I don't think it's going to happen. Bioware is going to make it as neutral as can be, so it applies to the majority of fans and the choices they made imo.

And please don't do the DA thing with the text blabla, and if you do it, check and double check every little detail because in DA it was buggy as hell and Alistair turned out to have two wives...great.

Edit : Torn on the issue because on the other hand the ME1 LI's are part of the entire trilogy and could possibly be recognized and rewarded as such?

To me, since I was already 19, it was like being stuck in two worlds: the one I knew before and the one I live in now. It fealt very weird and bitter at first. Saying I don't believe in marriage is the wrong way to put it really but let's just say that I fail to see the romantic aspect of it...I tend to rationalize a lot these days.

I'm engaged myself which is something I would never have imagined happening 3 years back but that's just it: I don't see myself going past that. If I was asked, however, I probably wouldn't say no but a white dress and hundreds of guests? Hell no! Especially considering that most of my relatives have treated me like a plague victim ever since my parents' divorce...

Actually now that I think about it: I wouldn't mind seeing an engagement in ME3. Depending on the person playing, it can mean future marriage or then just simply making this clear and obvious commitment which other people can't just shrug off like in ME2. Seriously, no one seemed to give a rat's ass about Shepards relationship with Kaidan.

Lmao,

Hmm...I have zero gif making skills, but would it technically be possible to reverse the first few seconds of this scene and gif it?

You know, this Joker fella seems to come between Shepard and Kaidan just a tad bit too often. Interrupts the near kissing, interrupts in the bedroom, gets you killed (in a way) in ME2 and actually if Shep dies again at the end, looks who's there...JOKER!...hmmm, he seems to play the 'If I can't have her, no one can!' angle :P

hehe I see where you are going with that. I still have the raw video of that scene. I know there is a way to make them with flash, and I have made them with flash, but they don't look high quality. I will talk to one of the designers here at work and see if they can help me,

For great justice!

The generic thing is what I'm afraid of....one romantic story...plug in whichever LI it is...perhaps a little change in dialog. Hope it doesn't happen that way but it would be the easiest way to script it and after the shortcuts they used with Kaidan/Ash on Horizon it could go that way.

Since ME3 is the last Shepard game they will have alot more freedom to tie together the loose ends.  Hopefully it will show us how the great commander Shepard lived happily ever after...or not.

Can't argue with that. I had a small private ceremony with a few 'select' family members and that was my husband's idea. I wanted to go to the courthouse.

Exactly...when ME3 is done I want their to be no question that Shep and the LI of her choice are together.
