Is there someone who wants to Beta-read Chapter 8... and possibly Chapter 9?

I would... but I can't until later this week. I need to work on that DA:O fic now that Brij is going to hold me to a deadline. ;)

I could easily leave the story unfinished. I am very disillusioned with bioware atm, with both ME2 & DAO Awakenings really disappointing me. ME2 was a big disappointment to me after ME1 and so is the dlc that they've put out for it so far. It just felt like it was lazyiness all round, and the writing really went downhill between the two games. Meh, I'm obviously just in a very negative mood today.

LoL... thanks for the offer but patience was never one of my virtues. Shenzi gave me a good start for Chapter 8 and Jilly got half way through Chapter 8 before she was getting busy... now I feel like sitting on hot coals, lol.

I'm hoping that ME3 doesn't make us have to go through "Loyalty" missions for the squad again. It's the end game. They don't need to make us sit through a bunch of filler crap.
I do think there should still be a Kaidan/Ash quest.

I'm actually hoping for it to go back to the ME1 format, where the main story drove it and the filler was just there as something extra, rather than what they did in ME2.  I pre-ordered ME2, but I won't be doing that with ME3, unless we get some major Kaidan spoilers that tell me its worth getting.

This.

After the ME1 LI cameos were announced, I canceled my pre-order. This was also around the time that they were marketing Subject Zero and were making a heavy emphasis on the improved combat. I sensed that the game was going in a direction that I wouldn't enjoy, so I bailed as soon as I could.

Everyone is entitled to having those days. I've been there and tend to get back there on a regular basis as well.
I admit that I was disappointed with DA:A... mainly because of the complete lack of connection to the original game.
It felt a bit like someone cut off 6 slices of bread, ate the 2nd-6th and tried to attach the first again.

ME2 was more action loaded than ME1 and surely suffered in the RPG aspect, atmosphere and smoothness, but it didn't suck - imho. Of course people have different tastes so if you didn't like it, it wouldn't make sense if you paid for ME3.
But I'm hoping that it won't come to that and that our reviews will drive you to leave the house right away to buy ME3... in two years.

It wasn't that I absolutely hated ME2, which I didn't. I just liked the story in ME1 and I mostly play rpg's so the combat in ME1 never worried me that much. I'm just disappointed that bioware concentrated so much on "improving" the combat in ME2 in an effort to attract the shooter crowd that they let the story and the writing go to hell.

I see what you mean and I agree.
Maybe because I play games like Fallout or Prototype and Borderlands, I wasn't so much worried about the improved combat  - but yes, as a passionate RP Gamer, I was disappointed how things felt... choppy and not nearly as well planned as ME1.
But - all pessimism be gone... ME3 will be a grande finale... I hope...

the thing with ME2 is that it wasn't a really good shooting game, or neither a good RPG game...it did not pleased any of the fan database.

Poor Fort, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, lolPosted Image

I knew about the cameo so I wasn't expecting much in the way of seeing Kaidan, but even that let me down with the crappy "it's been a long time, how have you been" dialogue that we got.  For me, bioware games have always been about great writing and story telling and I just feel like they dropped the ball with ME2.  I really do hope that they pick it up again for ME3 but really I would rather not get my hopes up and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I didn't know about the cameos in Awakenings when I ordered it Posted Image.  I should have researched it given ME2.

Nuh, I am heading to bed in about 30 - but I forced OdScIs to read Chapte 8 as well, lol.

If you are bored, you can have a look at Chapter 9, Shenzi - though knowing you, you are knee-deep in your own ff as well.

Haha - someone is insatiable.
I'll send you the link - though I have to be fair -it's just about out of the alpha version, so correct away or point out if you see something that doesn't make sense... in the actual chapter or in connection with chapter 8.

Thanks OdScIs

good morning all, hope you all are having good days/nights/whatever.

@sesh and star - love the fic, made me feel all nostalgic though i'm yet to meet anyone who uses the vernacular as much as your mechanic. even i don't. Sesh, which part of this sunburnt country are you from? i'm in NSW.

@jho, while i love the new version of waiting, is it possible for you to leave the old version up as well? i guess i can understand if you didn't think it was right, but i did like that version.
