and now for my random dumb question of the day re biotic amps

Ok, now an amp is implanted in the brain to increase biotic power levels. what happens if a biotic wants to upgrade their amp (like the new ones you find all over the place in ME1). Do they need brain surgery or is there like a plug in area on their skull. I was sort of under the impression that it was brain surgery but with the way you can uprade them in ME1 I just wondered. this is all in the name of fic writing as well, lol

@Fort - thanks. I was actually looking at the wiki. found stuff on biotics and having brain implants but not on the actual amps themselves.  I'll presume that info goes for the L5's in ME2 as well

I want to know if Kaidan's L2s will be able to continue to take the newer amps as they come out. There's bound to be compatibility issues, along with the fact that as soon as personal technology is figured out, it's immediately shrunk to better accommodate ease of use.

see this is where it throws me because from the wiki (quoted below) it sound like it will require brain surgery for Kaidan to upgrade from an L2:



"Most modern human biotics use the Alliance's L3 implant, which is safe to use but not particularly powerful. However, some older biotics are stuck with L2 implants, which allow abilities to spike higher - using an L2 implant, Kaidan Alenko's abilities are apparently comparable to an asari's - but at a cost. L2 implants are notorious for causing medical complications such as insanity, mental impairment, or extreme physical pain. It is possible to 'upgrade' from an L2 to an L3 implant, but the procedure is unethical because it carries a high risk of brain damage."

That's his implant, not his amp. The amp provides extra power to the implant. The implant allows human biotics to access their power.
