I don't cringe at the misspelling, but when I see someone bashing Kaidan elsewhere on these forums and they spell his name wrong it makes me just want to facepalm, I mean seriously, if you're going to beat on the guy at least get his name right.

Don't think the bashers even care....it's rare to see them get the name right..it's either kaiden or carth

I've probably never written his name before now but if I was to blindly it would be 'Kaiden' simply because of the sound/spelling. Seeing Kaidan just makes me pronounce it "Kai-dan" like "Fai Dan" from Feros.

Exactly! Mind you, I'm a Thane Shipper to the core (Look at the avvie) but I'd never really bash Kaidan. (Horizon had be between choking up and punching him though...LOL) I.E. I really loathe the Jacob romance. But you don't see me bashing his guts. Poor Kaidan gets a lot of flac he doesn't deserve.

But back to pleasant things: His voice, be it as Kaidan or Carth, is sooooooooo :wub::wub: Almost as sexy as Thane's.

totally annoys me, especially when you see it in the subtitles in ME1. yes it really does happen in game, one example i can think of is the start of virmire where you're flying over the planet and Kaidan says something about the defence towers.<_<

Now that you mention it, what WAS Shep thinking when she went "Heh, it's been too long, how have you been?"???!!!!! She treats Garrus with more affection than her LI, for God's sake. Bioware, oh Bioware, you really aren't good Angst writers, are ya?

You could just see it, someone made a mistake with the spell checker going through the in game dialogue and changed it from originally Kaiden to Kaidan and then someone else  was like "Okay roll with it!" while the voice acting still sounds like it's pronounced "Kaiden".

Back to the Thane and Kaidan discussion... in some way? I like both characters a lot, though my past with Kaidan has a lot of weight... so poor Thane doesn't get much of my attention... unless it is with a default character or possibly an imported single one.

Hoirzon... I personally dislike both of their behaviors. I understand Kaidan to some extent of course, but he too is... stubborn with no will to budge from his impression.

Doesn't almost that exact same line work on Garrus, though?  He jumps right into her frying pan and gets out of the fire.

On voices, I'd never had started talking to Thane if he hadn't had that sexy voice coming out of that sexy mouth.  I keep him in the shades because his eyes kinda creep me out but I could listen to him all day.  If Thane and Kaidan could have a good, long discussion on the merits of increasing the size of the probe bay I would listen raptly to every word.

Re spelling - I have t think about it as I have a friend whose son is Kaiden

Re Horizon - I don't blame Kaidan at all for his attitude and can understand it completely. I said worse things to my Shep about serving with Cerberus than Kaidan did, lol. and yes the dialogue for Shepard was horrendous

Re Thane - meh, he just doesn't appeal to me as a romance option, and his memory thing really creeps me out, so I skip through that whenever I'm talking to him. But Sbarge's voice runs rings around everyone else in the game as far as smexiness goes. Just started a Kotor playthrough and I keep trying to talk to Carth just to hear his voice even if he only says "yes whats on your mind" and " you got it". I could listen to that man's voice all day, lol

Good morning all!

Considering how little screen time Kaidan had in ME2, I'm proud of how much on topic, substantial conversation goes on here. It's never enough for the haters, even on the last page, I saw real conversation before and after the troll, but it's never good enough for the people who either are disgusted that we all don't want to bone the particular character they think we should, or they think all character support threads are lame, and we're losers. In either scenario, it's kind of pathetic to bash and run. Even if someone thinks Kaidan is the worst character in either game, I would have tons more respect if they came in here to have a civil debate rather than whining and running.

Anyway, I've been mostly lurking lately, because my computer died and I'm waiting on new parts to be shipped, and posting by iPhone sucks! But I've been enjoying reading. Thanks everybody, this thread and all the Shenko fan fic are keeping me from utter pessimism about the future of Mass Effect. This thread rules!

Could you imagine trying to plan a mission with those two?  They'd be chattering about strategy and I'd be nodding like an idiot, saying "go on" every time they stopped talking.  [swoon]

LoL... I hear ya. I personally still prefer Sbarge, but Thane is all good and well.
Like I said, my single characters usually go for him, I like the character. Neither the eyes, nor the memory thing really creeps me out. My ex always thought that this was creepy. It's from Prototype and this scene. (Don't worry, only 30 seconds long).
Then again... I have a thing for creepy... *shrugs*
