This is only peripherally related to the subject of this thread, but as I know many participants of this thread are also a fan of Carth Onasi, I've got a curiosity question for you.
Should you have played both KOTOR games, what is your opinion on the better LI between choosing Carth or Atton Rand? And should you have picked Carth, could you say that you still like Atton or is he a no go?
My curiosity was struck while looking at a completely different thread, so I'm looking for opinions from people outside of that thread.

Carth and Atton do not compete for the affections of the same character.  Carth is with Revan, Atton is with the Exile.  Carth is in KOTOR, a Bioware game.  Atton is in KOTOR2, an Obsidian game.  Apples and oranges.  Carth has no rival for Revan, Atton's rival is the insipid Disciple.  (Written even WORSE than Jacob, IMNSHO.)

Um... so perhaps I should have mentioned the other thread that led to my questions was a game for which both Carth and Atton are choices. It's not about them competing with each other for one LI, it's about who makes the better/more popular character as a whole. When it came to LI, I had assumed Carth was the more popular choice.

Yep

I think they both would have been exceedingly professional about it, I tend to think that neither one of them were looking for romance when they boarded the SR1.

Joker prolly had more than a few comments to make to Kaidan about Shepard though after meeting her.

Actually, I'm torn... One the one hand, Sbarge's voice... on the other, Atton = Han Solo.  I'm glad they're in different games.



Jo:  I'd think it was professional on the surface, and most definitely on Shep's part.  But I think Kaidan would have started checking her out right away.  After all, he likes adventurous women who are pretty but aren't stuck up about it.

@Joisan - one of the fics currently in my list of wip's deals with that very subject. I already have the first chapter down, but got sidetracked with other fics, lol

I played KoToR2 after the orginal KoToR and tbh I can't even remember Atton particularly well but Carth I remember very well .

Atton didn't really have much in the way of the romance - the "romances" in KOTOR TSL were very light and subtle compared to DA:O, KOTOR, or the Mass Effects. The romances developed off screen too, partially. There was more to the Atton "romance" but that was cut from the final version. The cut romance had declaration of love from him to the female exile. If you own the game on the PC, you can download a mod that restores cut content like this.

After a very long day of D&D, I am home finally.

And I too have often seen parallels between Buffy and Shep.

I've also seen a few with Wonder Woman (the Linda Carter one), but I'm probably dating myself.



But yes... Shepard seems to be a lot like Buffy. But is she really? Or is that because us old Buffy fans are playing her that way?



In that case, Meghan has her Angel and Spike.

It does seem like Shep is "the chosen one". and they did bring Buffy back from the dead too. 

And now I just had a horrible image of everyone on the SR2 singing ala "Once More with Feeling".

It's probably us just seeing and playing the character that way, Sia, but yes, Meghan has her Angel and Spike.
But I would think Miranda would be more Cordelia than Anya.

But yes, in the musical epsidoe, you could sub Miri in for Anya. She would be a decent fit there.

That's all right, my mind went immediately to giving Garrus Spike's graveyard solo.  I need brain bleach, because ACK! Singing turian!  Anya and Xander were tame compared to that.
