For how I first got into Mass Effect, I start anticipating its release from the very first moment I heard about it. Bioware does not fail me. World building interests me. Science fiction intrigues me.
But anyway, Kaidan strikes me as an even keel guy, probably strongly influenced by his experience in BAaT. Because of that, I don't see Kaidan taking issue with any squadmates. If they try to take issue with him, he'd probably state his views and leave it to the other person to decide how they want to interpret it. Actively trying to get a rise out of him probably makes him close himself off more.
I once posted on the ME1 forum about the Virmire decision, specifically if anyone made the choice based on where the squadmates were and not who the squadmates were. Typically this leads to Kaidan being rescued because he's the tech in charge of the nuclear bomb that I want to make sure goes off properly. Sometimes I'll roleplay the scenario differently. For instance, Kaidan is an Alliance officer who by military protocol should be the liason to the Salarians -- leading me to save Ashley who is protecting the nuclear bomb that I want to make sure goes off properly. Alternatively, I can take Captain Kirrahe at his word that once the nuclear bomb is armed, very little is going to stop it, so I go for the Salarians and squadmate on the AA Tower.
It makes more sense to me to protect the bomb at all cost. It makes more sense to me that Captain Kirrahe and his salarians should only survive if you head for the AA Tower. I do think the confrontation with Saren looks far cooler from the tower. So sometimes I head for the AA Tower simply for style.
