I did a fresh Me2 just do a romance, and I did Jacob romance and just ewwwwwwwwww. So I would classify Garus, and Kaidan romance as better than Jacob, and Thane's. I like Thane as a character, because I thought it was bad ass that he could disappear in a flash like that. I also liked how Garus was as dorkish during the romance, and I also enjoyed Kaidan's romance, because you had to work at it a little.

Most complex?  No, I would probably award that to Thane, out of the male LIs.  But do I think he's flat?  No, his character has layers, but he is a very reserved, subtle character as written in ME1...which is why many people probably wrote him off as boring as soon as he opened his mouth. 

Kaidan is a quiet guy, who won't complain about his migraines, but will tell you his story because he is concerned about you, and doesn't want you to lose control.  Self-control is extremely important to Kaidan, because of what happened with Vyrnuus, and I'd imagine being an L2 biotic means he has something to prove, to show that he's not unstable or less capable than anyone else.  He only starts to use his biotics to his full potential during this mission -- and if you're his love interest, he breaks regs to be with you -- which means losing some of the self-control that he values so highly. 

His internal struggle might not be as dramatic as some of the other LIs', but it's a testament to the fact that he's mature and doesn't have major issues, which is appealing to me.  He's also a good person, and loyal, and those qualities appeal to me greatly, which is why he appeals to me.  

As far as love interests from other games, Zevran is probably at the top of the list.  He was born in a **** house, sold to assassins, and raised to be cruel and without morals.  Despite this, he is a fairly cheerful person when you meet him, and does care about the world around him.  Going through his full romance arc is harder to achieve, because most of it happens late in the game (and Alistair is just so darned sexy, it's easy to be lured away), but it's extremely worthwhile.

@TeenZombie, I disagree with Thane being the most complex. His wife died. His son went renegade. He's dying. And now he likes you as his 'second' Siha whose going on a suicide mission. Just kind of seems like a laundry list of depressing things, not real character development.



Then again, I'm biased.

I don't think any of them are very complex, but that's the nature of the game. You're interactions are so limited that you only get so many avenues. Even Alistair, who falls for you in half an hour, offers a hundred dialogue options between Hello and The End and thus more depth. Kaidan is definitely the most mature and stable. I love Thane, but he's got serious issues. Kaidan is more like a real-life romance (y'know, in space and saving the galaxy from sentient robo-bugs, just like every day).

good morning everyone. hi pyro. seems really quiet in here this morning. not sure why.

when it comes to male love interest complexities, i don't think i can judge really. the closest i got to trying the ME2 love interests is hearing thane call one of my sheps siha then having her freak out and run up to her cabin to check the photo on the desk.

yeah he does, hence why shep freaked out and ran to her cabin to check the piccy. i didn't know that beforehand. it is weird, i don't think i would like the idea of someone calling me a pet name without my permission like thane does.

Yeah, but it's not really a lovey dovey petname.  It's be like me calling a buddy Archangel Michael or somethin'.  I can see that name go both ways. 

Although, during the romance scene, I did knd of expect him to enter the cabin through the aquarium.

Yeah, I could never talk to Jacob at all. I liked talking to Thane because I like the stories, which is why I started playing ME in the first place. I'm like others here I would have liked more non LI content in ME2 and more LI with Kaidan - as for romancing Thane, I still can't get over the "It's a Lizard" factor as much as I like the character. Garrus, well he is family, like a brother.



With what I watched on You Tube, none of the romances had Kaidan's charm and the Ilos factor. ME 2 Fem shep anyway they were shorted.

I do think Kaidan's romance has a sort of unique charm to it. Can't put my finger to it. Might be in part that he's rather sensitive (as in introspective and choosing his words carefully). So is Thane, but there's still different.

I just wish you could talk to Kaidan in ME1 about a lot more things than you do. I know I would go to him after every mission to see if he had anything new to say and most of the time I just go tthe standard "I've taken enough of your time" line.

I really don't see Kaidan on a motorcycle.  Too risky, not enough control.  A mountain bike, though, in those lycra shorts, off-roading in a drenched evergreen forest... 

Dang, now I may have to write another little piece ending up with pine needles in awkward places.
