quoting this because it is a nice piccy. needs to be seen more than once.

sort of off topic, i started a new me1 playthrough with a ruthless shepard. it's the first time i've played ruthless backstory. knowing myself, it'll most likely go paragon. anyone else played a ruthless paragon? kinda doesn't make sense. when Kaidan commented on torfan, he definately sounded like he didn't approve. anyone else get that impression?

Paragon Ruthless will only make sense if you imagine your character to feel regretful over her/his past actions and has sworn to make up for her/his mistakes with everything he/she has to offer.

I play as a Paragade. I'm nice to those who deserve it and I'm ruthless to those who are guilty.

I find it way easier to choose some renegade options in 2 as they are genuinely about getting the job done and I like to think Shepard has honed her instincts a bit (like Elnora in the Eclipse base, I'll take the renegade points for shooting that little madam...) and can tell if someone is lying.

@fiery - i guess if i go paragon, that would have to be the way shep would justify it, does seem to make an unbalanced character, possibly one with alot of inner turmoil.

@collider - is paragade considered approx 75% para 25% ren or is it more even then that?

@jen - i have to admit some of those renegade interrupts were hard to ignore.

EDIT - good evening Shenzi:D

@stephee, I played my one renegade play through that way and when references were made to Torfan I made sure I picked paragon options in response. My renegade (I imagined) had a very tough start in life and made some rash decisions that she now regrets. She tries her very best to do the right thing but has a tougher more cynical view than all my other Shepards and is not afraid to say what she thinks and make a view difficult choices. She was renegon but did all the 'right', things when it came to big choices (I could never kill the Rachni Queen, it would make me really sad, I find her fascinating and the voice is wonderful)

Even with my full out renegade character I couldn't make the renegade choices all the time, especially when dealing with members of Shepard's crew.

Yeah, you can't be mean to people you rely on, it's not nice :D

I can understand that :) For me it is that and the fact that I can't go that far away from my own character for long

I've done a very mean renegade playthrough. I think Kaidan was the only one that didn't suffer from that Shep's wrath.

I normally play Paragon to Paragade for most of my characters.

Going back to the topic of complex relationships (couple of pages ago) my take on it is this. Thane is a more complicated character but the relationship with Kaidan feels more complex, if that makes sense? Thane is very enigmatic and charismatic and his voice is lovely, his story is usual BioWare 'love me I've had a tragedy', stuff, but he is generally well rounded in that you know there is a lot more you could learn about him.

Kaidan has dealt with his issues well and has the ability to see that dragging baggage is pointless, he is mature and thoughtful and feels like he would be less easy to impress than any of the ME2 romances, they feel a bit 'thrown in at the last minute', in many ways.

As far as the romance goes Thane is the only ME2 character I can bring myself to romance and I only did that once to have a save for ME3 to see what happens!

Oddly enough, Thane is the last of the ME2 LI that I would choose if I were inclined to take a single Shep into ME2. For a multitude of reasons, most of which have to deal with his philisophical views on killing. Plus, his eyes creep me out. That's just me though.

I much prefer sexy marines with the last name Alenko.

Fortunately, I am no where near inclined to write Meli's tale.

"Angry" Shep is actually Paragon, not that you would believe it in the story so far.

I didn't feel at all connected to my renegade character, I understood her, but didn't feel the way I do about Riot, my main Shepard!
And there is a difference between mean and angry, so I do believe it (I am surrounded by people who make me angry..... ;))
