Does anyone know if Ashley says that she needs to report back to the Citadel at the end of the Horizon encounter, the way Kaidan does? If so, that may be a hint towards whether she's a Spectre or not. As far as I know, the Alliance doesn't have a base of operations on the Citadel. But if she were a Spectre...

Yes she does say she has to report back to the citadel.
My feelings are she is on special  asignment. Spectre? very doubtful. Special forces ( N ) ? more likely than spectre still doubtful. Hope that helps.

So Kaidan got promoted twice in two years? That basically says he isn't a Spectre right? Unless he just became one ofcourse. Still seeing him as a special op, that would explain the promotions as well. Ugh, I have a headache can't think too clearly.
Well let's just say he's special then :innocent:

@Night...I was worried it was cute in the pink fuzzy bunny slippers on a five year old girl in pig tails sort of way. Funny is fine, I think both Kaidan and Shep show each other sides no one else sees, but cute made me think 'too sweet' and 'not realistic'.
Hmm, don't know if that made sense. Shutting up, now, Sir!

@ Jaer - "Cute" can also mean fun, enjoyable, sweet in a very positive and wonderfully touching way or "awwww" that's really lovely! I've often heard of couples who clearly know and understand each other described as being very "cute. " And that's just as realistic as the couple who doesn't understand each other. :)

Okay before I go to bed I was thinking...was Miranda able to hold that biotic barrier thing in the end of ME2? And if so could Kaidan do the same thing? Miranda says something about having impressive biotics because of her enhancements, would she be stronger than Kaidan? Assuming he's still a L2 and hasn't had upgrades...which is another thing, why didn't he get an upgrade to begin with again?
Just trying to determine how powerful a biotic Kaidan really is as a sentinel, I don't want to portray him as an adept. But maybe, despite being a sentinel, he's just as good as an adept?

This is most likely why I have a headache, too much thinking lol

Miranda couldn't hold the bubble, and I think her biotics being "impressive" comes from the fact that most human biotics don't turn out to be strong at all.

IMO, he's more close to an adept. Perhaps his tech skills came from an interest after BAaT when he didn't want anything to do with biotics. Then the Alliance saw that interest and decided to train him in those areas as well.

she can't do it and live - oops - spoiler.  it's got to be jack or samara/morinth.

but i think kaidan would have stronger biotics. he's an L2 for a start and i think he's more disciplined than miranda.

dunno why i think that. maybe because skin-tight-sofa-pattern-jumpsuit+high heeled boots doesn't say "disciplined" to me.

Miranda was not able to hold the biotic barrier long enough in ME2. While I suspect Kaidan would be more powerful than Miranda because he's an L2, I wouldn't put it past Cerberus to have continued working on the L2 after the Alliance have given up on it and the L5 implants we see in ME2 are the result. So Miranda can be potentially as strong as Kaidan if that were the case.

The biotic barrier seems to require only the strongest of biotics. While I can see the temptation to consider Kaidan not just a great biotic, but one of the strongest, I simply don't think that's the case. Jack can hold the barrier because she has been designed specifically as a biotic weapon of immense power, to the point she suffers neural degeneration because of it.

ETA: And Miranda can try to hold the barrier. She'll live, but someone else in the squad won't. Miranda's got plot armour.

ETAA: One day I'll have the ME2 discs again so I can play the game to specifically test the theory that Jack can't even hold the barrier unless you get her biotic upgrade. Doubt it, but would like to be surprised anyway.

Are adepts stronger than sentinels though? Or is it just that they are more trained and maybe a better control over their power?
I like seeing Thane's biotic power in those promo movies, it was subtle. Where Samara is like a mage. So would Kaidan be more like Thane, or more like Samara?
(just in case I want to do an all out biotic god Kaidan pic in the future lol)

Out of the human biotics, I'd say Kaidan's probably the second strongest behind Jack. His implants are some of the most powerful ones out there.

Also, he and Jack were both trained with negative reinforcement. That seems to have a bearing on how strong a human biotic turns out; perhaps this gives them a 'fight with biotics or die' kind of conditioning.

Kaidan is awesome, he is very polite with Tali in elevator talks. :) One of the more interesting characters in ME 1 i think, after Tali, Joker, Garrus, and Anderson.

So if you're a biotic in ME1, Kaidan does mention his L2 gives him greater biotic power than typical L3s aside from Shepard, yeah? Implying they were near equals, at least. So if you're a biotic in ME2, you've been upgraded to the L5. So would biotic Shepard now be stronger than Kaidan?

ETA: And why did I start near every sentence with the word "so?" That's annoying. As was my use of "it's" rather than "its" in another thread earlier. So tempting to change. Just so.

People will die if you use Miranda.  Only Jack and Samara can be used.  I don't know if Kaidan could hold it, though. He might, if he's as strong as Jack.

He's more mage than rogue IMO, if that's what you're going for. Though as the squadmate banter in the elevator suggests, biotic powers can fluctuate due to one's mental state. There's no telling how much stronger or possibly weaker his biotics have gotten after Shepard died.

It's debatable whether or not he could have held the bubble, but then again, I think he would have known if he could or couldn't do it. That's one thing about him; he knows his limits. I am leaning more toward the idea that he wouldn't have been able to keep the bubble going.

Adepts may not be stronger than Sentinels (or Vanguards) but they have more tricks.  I started my Avery game last night and had to fire maybe... 10 shots.  Between Singularity, Warp, Reave, and Throw,   Adepts should rarely have to shoot, really.
