Ha! I have no idea what you all mean. ../../../images/forum/emoticons/whistling.png Don't make me use these air quotes and dismiss scope creep.

Hiya Leg. We're talking about a question I posed up above. Namely, in regards to ME3 and Kaidan, what do you think is the most satisfying way for the romance to proceed? Would you prefer fast action (hey baby-I'm so sorry-how fast can I get your clothes off) or a slower pace like in ME1 (I still care but I'm cautious--I'm do care and I want to make things work-I'm sorry about Horizon-let's make up and out action)? Other?

Sorry, I forgot the sarcasn smilie.  Fixed!  I was referring to the scope creep comment and the fact that my last fic was intended to be maybe a dozen chapters and ended up twice that.

While in fics I'm all for the "jump into bed and talk it out later" but in-game I'd rather they took it slow.  That would be a lot more realistic for Kiadan and his having been alone literally for years, if not so much for Shep.

Nah, I was referring to my own fic which was originally conceptualized as a 3 chapter fic around a single image I had in my head and I'm now working on chapter 13 and prolly won't wrap it up for another 2-3 chapters. Posted Image

*grins*  Glad you decided against the Alamo! That would have been a little to scary.   Living in an area that used to be a big naval port (multiple bases) I have to admit one of my favorite ship names is Enterprise.

I know, mine, too.  But since she's a frigate, it's gotta be a famous battle.

Morning Star (yeah I like saying that too)

and everyone else.

I didn't know about the battle thing does that mean that the Normandy was named after a battle / if so I need to change the name of the new ship in Chapter 1 that of course I just posted.

It might not be.  It could be geographical.  Then you could have, say, the Alasace, the Bayou, the Cuyo, and the Navarre just for starters.   Or it could be DragUdina stage names.  Is his first name Norman?

Or is there a wiki or codex entry I haven't read that specifies the battle thing?

Depends upon whose naming conventions you're following.  According to the Mass Effect Wiki, the Alliance has very specific ship naming conventions. Here's the link: http://masseffect.wi...i/Alliance_Navy . Naming conventions are in the middle of the page.

Yeah, the classes of ships have naming patterns.  Dreadnoughts get mountains, cruisers get cities, frigates are named for battles.  masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Alliance_Navy#Notable_Vessels

Carriers get scientists, ie the SSV Einstein.

I assume that the Alliance uses only the names of places on Earth, right? Not that it really matters. I'm not intending to add anything to my fleet of one.

Excellent save, though.

Yeah, only Earth events and places at this time.  I doubt we'll get a SSV Citadel any time soon.

Okay so I fixed it and used a civil war battle / its a what if story anyway... what if Shepard had made it onto the escape pod / just needed to explore... Hey I never would have done it in the first place if you guys didn't get me started.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I use the WIKI but I don't read it religiously, maybe I should

After so many went missing I'm thinking a series of colony memorial ships would be in order, though.  If I ever do have to name a ship I'll call it the SSV Freedom's Progress and we'll just call it Progress:P  Of course, that would have be be set after ME2.

Okay, because I have been playing too much Red Dead Redemption lately, and can't get the mental image of cowboy-Garrus out of my head, I just wonder... What other era/setting, other than futuristic, can you picture Kaidan in?

Kaidan is an honorable knight sworn to a virtuous lord in the Middle Ages.

I think that's one of the best things about Kaidan's character. He's essentially normal and believable. He could fit in just about any historical setting pretty well. Wearing a powdered wig riding in a coach? Yep. Cowboy-hatted and charming the schoolmarm? Sure. Toga? Heck, yeah!

That's why I like Tuxedo Kaidan so much; it's anachronous with the setting of Mass Effect, but it works really well, and he just looks so sexy...

I'd prefer neither fast or slow in the buildup.

Do I want them to hop in bed immediately? No.

But at the same time, I don't want things to happen right before the end of the game again. So, something not too fast and not too slow would be nice.

I hope this post makes sense. I just woke up XD

it makes sense. and i agree. something worked into the narrative would be lovely.

i am trying to manage my own expectations though. there are...what...10? 12? romance options heading into me3? i am just hoping for screen time - i feel like there should be more of it than the others, but i''m biased there.

but i agree w/ fort - i don't think the me1 romance interests will be able to stay away from shep for long if shep is interested in resuming things - but i also don't see *any* of those chars as jump-the-commander-in-the-comm-room types.

more's the pity, but there you go. :P

Please forgive me for going a little off topic but I have an announcement to make:

Here is my DA:O video with Alistair and my female City Elf warrior. It's still in processing if you know how YouTube works, so if you want the best video quality you may want to wait a bit to watch, but it's up.

Now to catch up and return to our regularly scheduled Kaidan.

So, I see we've been talking about the pace of the Kaidan-Shepard relationship in ME3. I agree with those that think it would be out of character (for Kaidan certainly, and for a lot of people's Shepards as well) to just jump back into bed. Which is why I ended Midnight Munchies the way I did:

Kaidan and Mia filled the ride back to his apartment on Kithoi Ward with small talk, more for the pleasure of hearing each other's voices than out of any particular interest for the topics of conversation. This had the added benefit of delaying the need to discuss whether Mia would be returning to the Normandy to sleep, but as the onetime lovers stood outside the door to Kaidan's apartment, they couldn't avoid the issue any longer. Mia made to leave.

"So… um, I'll see you tomorrow, then?"

"No, wait, don't go!" Kaidan exclaimed, taking her hands in his before she could move out of reach. "Stay here tonight, with me."

"Are you sure?"

"Mia, I'm not asking for anything beyond your company in sleep. You may think it's too soon for us to pick up where we left off before Ilos, and I agree. Just let me rest with the sound of your heartbeat next to mine."

The Commander smiled shyly and allowed him to lead her through the door.

"I'd like that."

Because that line of Zane's is just too freaking awesome and was perfect for the tone I was going for, and then I gave Shepard Kaidan's line for the lulz value.
