Funny thing really... a new theory formed in my head, the attempt to explan why we can't respond to the mail from our LI.
Seems that BW and Obsidian worked together as partners, and while I'm not sure about their current standings... they must have split their works and stopped exchanging ideas because in Obsidian's newest game, Alpha Protocol, the main character can respond to several email to different characters in different styles. You like the girl, you send back a flirtatious answer. You wanna keep her as friend answer in a joking way... whatever. I was so much thinking about how well this feature would have fit in... and the fact that you usually get a response from person you wrote.
Also... selling information you recovered... gosh I would have loved that option for ME2... sell the Cerberus data to the Alliance, the Shadowbroker, send it to Kaidan... whatever. Ah well, back to Oblivion for me... and may we find satisfaction (with Kaidan) in ME3 while I find comfort in the shades.
'Evening Ki.
Good theory and the email resonse may be one of the few pluses that Obsidian managed to get away with! Not going to rant about Obsidian (I'd like to but I won't, lol). However, a DLC about communication....email communication would be great....would be a nice little bridge between ME2 and ME3. Actually I think it's much needed. It's often so much harder, particularly after a rather dramatic bit of rejection, to actually talk to the person. It's a lot easier by email. Which is one of the reasons why social networks and texting are so big. It would certainly make sense for Kaidan and Shep to begin mending fences via email.
I've always wondered why we didn't get to make a response, especially since I remember several interviews including one at E3 where Casey Hudson talked about the ME1 LIs not being part of the action but that your character would be able to "exchange emails with them". Exchange implies going two ways, not just one, doesn't it?
