Captain is her mom's first name. Hannah is her maiden name. After the split with her husband, Captain decided to take back her maiden name.

Commander is Shepard's first name. Shepard is her last name.

Shepard's dad's first name is Dad, his last name is Shepard.

Glad Shep's an only child

Cashier Shepard was considered for a while, but the marriage fell apart.

I don't know when Shepard calls her mother in ME one she tells Shepard "You're doing us proud" ... I took that to mean mom and dad....

Mom is also Alliance though. She could be speaking as an Alliance officer and be using "us" to refer to the Alliance and/or humanity.

@ jo - lovin' the songs. :D listening and writing.

@ jho/night: that is just the weirdest email. though i agree w/ sapphy - given how short mom is with shep in the personal quest of me1, i thought their relationship was either verycold or they are both very relationally awkward with each other.

hannah: why'd you call me? i'm on duty
shep: yeah, dude, so am i. this is important
hannah: no that's not. just go tell him to go to the veteran's office
shep: gee, thanks mom
hannah: get off the phone, kid.

lol

Hmm... I didn't interpret it quite like that.  I thought there was genuine affection in Hannah's voice when she says, "You're making us proud".

Morning! Stomach flu sucks, Prince of Persia is a fun movie, and I feel about as strong as a week old kitten.

And just to help me feel a little better:

Wait, wait, wait....Did you say a movie based on a video game wasn't bad?

Maybe there is hope for ME the movie.

Maybe.

Prince of Persia was very entertaining. I enjoyed it alot more than most of the other movies I've seen that were released this year.

Shepard Alenko sounds like something Legion would say lol

It's how he'll refer to them as a couple.

They're walking down the passage way looking over some data bad and Legion needs their attention for some upgrade so says

"Shepard Alenko."

I agree, Hannah seemed quite warm in tone in the phone call. Both were on duty.

My interpretation of the relationship stems from the email, and also my own personal spin on using the limitations of what we can do in ME2 to develop my Shep.

Ooh, songs!  Some of these are on Bri's playlist, the first one I think isn't.

Locker Scene:
Ryan Star: Breathe

Post-Horizon:
Taylor Swift: Forever and Always

Staring at the picture:
Lady Antebellum: Need You Now

Happy Ending in ME3:
Nickelback: Never Gonna Be Alone

This one makes me think of how tentative Kaidan is at the beginning of the romance arc in ME1:
Amaya Laucirica's Lost and Found

and for during Horizon?  Slackjawed from The Connells, of course.  <_<

Yeah. For my part, my take on it is that Shepard's mom was probably a bit ticked at her when she sent the e-mail. I mean, she doesn't know that Shepard literally was dead until just recently. Just like Kaidan, she thinks that Shepard was alive the whole time and simply didn't contact her and you have to admit, if those were truly the circumstances, it would have been a pretty douche move on Shepard's part.

I didn't take the email as that she was angry, More of glad your not dead and not suprised that you kept it from me.  Like it's all duty and honor.  I thought mom took it better then Kaidan did.

To be fair, her mom had time to compose a reasonable e-mail rather than having a face-to-face confrontation without preparation.

i totally agree. i keep thinking that for kaidan's part, he has had absolutely no chance to really deal with shepard's death. he can't talk about her to anyone, since their relationship was secret, then he thinks she's alive and joined the enemy. i felt that his reaction on horizons is largely the result of his never getting over anything about shepard.

I've always wondered why we didn't get to make a response, especially since I remember several interviews including one at E3 where Casey Hudson talked about the ME1 LIs not being part of the action but that your character would be able to "exchange emails with them".  Exchange implies going two ways, not just one, doesn't it?

Really, he said that? Hmm. I've seen so many interviews prior to ME2's release and now I don't recall much of them anymore. It doesn't make sense at all to have a message system where the receiver can only read the messages but not respond to them in any way.

No mail to Kaidan, no mail to her spacer background mother, no way to reply to Hackett, nothing. It would have been nice if the mail system was part of the missions. Like in ME1 where a transmission from Hackett and a little conversation would introduce a new sidemission. Why can't we have some interaction with a reply to confirm the mission and thus flagging it as active and perhaps getting a follow up mail with the coordinates or something.

I think it was the one thing Casey said (exchanging emails) that I do remember amidst all the game hype.  And the first time I played through I waited pretty eagerly for that damn email thinking that at least we'd get to talk on-line, but no. Not to be.

I couldn't agree more. It makes no sense to me that we can't respond to email at least from Mom, Admiral Hacket and Kaidan.  Part of me thinks that this is just one of the short cuts that got taken in the interests of time or perhaps in the interests of maintaining a clearer storyline for ME3 (because after all with all the new characters etc. I suspect it's going to be a challenge for BW to bring in all of one's in-game decisions.)

If the world worked the way this group does, how awesome would it be? :-) You mention in passing you want something and it appears. Awesome!

I have to admit, I haven't been reading it, although I hear about it all the time.  I should take the time out soon.

@ Sapphy: Awesome chapter! I've left you a review.

@ TZ: If you haven't read AMWT, hope you do take the time. It's really well done. I've become addicted; it's the first thing I read MWF mornings.

Okay I have been a good little reader, and finally caught up on everything, I think, from here... still a few that don't post here, but anyway I read and reviewed all the chapters, at least I think I did.

Memorial Day so had to go to the cemetary in between but was a nice ceremony - short, not like in NY but it made my mom happy.

I find it interesting how we all play the same game and see the characters in different ways, how some of us like the biotics and think of them as a breathing thing almost and some of us think of them as a tool. It's just so interesting to see how each of us percieves something.

I love all the different Universes that we have created for outselves - from the fics to the pictures-

THANK YOU EVERYONE - and thank you Bioware.

Have a Great Day!!!!

Chapters 9 & 10 of A Paragon of Virtue are up.  (I can't see them, but Sapphy says they're there.)

And now... my stomach has decided to show me that I'm not well yet after all and is threatening to demonstrate.

Chem:  Loved your penguin story!

Why oh why is there just a Kaidan cameo and cutscene in ME2? I want to flycam around him and take every shot I want instead of having to go back to ME1 and give it a go there with inferior graphics ;) I've been trying to get that perfect shot for hours now and Kaidan isn't cooperating. He even looks pissed in most shots lol. Guess that's my queue to leave it alone for now and head for bed ;)

Anyway you guys are spoiling us with all the Shenko fics, absolutely loved them. It's great to see the different POVs in the stories. Hopping back to ME1 or into the future between ME2 and ME3.

I've been meaning to say it earlier, but someone used the phrase "makes my teeth tingle" in her story (sorry don't recall who it was and I'm tired), which is one of my favourites Kaidan lines. Thank you for that! :D Okay I'm out, till tomorrow.
