Horizon is the highlight of my game. In a masochistic sort of way. There is joy in the perfect execution of double scion death. Erm, then there's Kaidan.

Like I said, masochistic.

@sage

I remember the first time I played ME2, i was like: Horizon is so hard!!, I got killed a dozen times, in my 2nd play-through, i was like, what, why is this so easy (of course, in normal)

good morning all
i see we are talking about difficulty settings, i usually play casual, on my latest ME1 game i bumped the setting up to normal. i'm ashamed to admit that i'm struggling with that. Kaidan's neural shock certainly is a huge help though.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.  I suck at aiming so unless I can spam biotics it takes me forever to get through.  Casual is pretty easy but I get frustrated when I die more than three or four times in a row--I'm here to play a story, dangit!  The battles are just so I can progress the story.

hey guys, what's wrong with the quote button?

And sometimes I got tired of shooting mercs and just changed the difficulty to casual.

But that was in my 1st playthrough.

It seems like the quote button in intermittently glitchy.  <_<  I play some parts on normal but I've never been patient enough to finish Horizon on anything but casual.  That Praetorian wipes the floor with me every time.

Oh, and I've finally managed to get Chapter 13 of the The Double off the ground, finally including Kaidan's appearance.  For some reason I just couldn't get this one to move at the beginning.  I think I was too anxious to get to the end.  :D

I keep hearing about how people are having a problem with the quote button, but I haven't had that same issue happen to me yet. I'm guessing it has to do with the forum system hiccuping over the character support thread moves. Like sometimes it keeps expecting the threads to be on their old forum. It seems to be an issue people are having with the character support threads specifically.

I was actually going to post that I'd never had a problem with it but then that one time it didn't work for me.

Yeah, if you're having problems, look at the url of the page you're on, it should say http://social.biowar...rum/1/category/128/ rather than http://social.biowar...rum/1/category/105/ in the location.  If it does say 105, close out of the page and open it again.  It's a pain, but the forums are acting funky today.

I remember my first playthrough, I spent considerable time after Horizon randomly spitting out "He dumped me. I think that bastard dumped me. I can't believe he dumped me." While I was doing a completely different mission. Jacob's all talking about how stupid his dad is and I'm reply to the monitor "Oh yeah, well, I think Kaidan just dumped me. He sucks, too."

This went on until I got the email. I could actually hear Kaidan's voice while reading it, could actually see him being all reserved again trying to leave us both a way out. Jerk.

But I stopped thinking he dumped me after that.

I actually didn't play for a few days after the first time I did Horizon, for one reason or another.  I was so mad that I wasn't about to make time to play.  And then I didn't bother to check my messages on the "private" terminal for a while after that so I was grouchy for a long time!  The message (and yes, definitely read in his voice in my head) didn't make it all better but I wasn't ready to go hunt him down and kick him in the...ankle any more.  ;)

Actually, hearing what I write in the voices of different characters helps me figure out if what I'm writing actually sounds like them or if I'm totally off the map, character-wise.

Here it is. As usual, a disclaimer that video quality will not be optimal right at first.

agreed. this is a good test.

i had played a non-romanced shep first, so horizons really pissed me off. when i did my romanced shep import, i found the whole thing really sweet and tragic. the email just made me all teary (i'm a big softie, i know).  then i re-read it later and was like...waiiittt. this is sort of - deliberately vague.

i think the email was really well written in the end, though. classic kaidan style, it's very much leaving them ways out - but personally i read behind that that he is still wanting shepard and is just too confused by her seeming betrayal to come out and say it.

I'd rather think about times with Kaidan in ME1 versus the meeting with him on Horizon, so would think it's a good time to post the video.

I love vacation days. I've already gotten chapter 11 sent to beta and I'm working on chapter 12 and I might actually have them done before I go to sleep. So, if my betas get to read them, I'll have another aPoV update tomorrow. Avery and Kaidan are writing themselves at this point.

Good Evening Everyone!!!  The Night Crew is back online!!

Yes Jo the first thing I did was watch your video...

It's grand!!

I will be here Lurking... Have to decided to write Walls (we are getting very close to the attack)  or Panoplied (yeah she doesn't even know what she is looking for yet)  what to do or where to go?

Confused?  Yeah well it's me, what did you expect.

I play Horizon over and over just trying to make sense of it sometimes.  Depending on my mood I am either pouty (he is yelling at me Posted Image)  or angry ( traitor, I am not traitor, he's a traitor.., the big meanie) or indignant (your the one that should be greatful to Cerberus, it if wasn't for them I would still be dead and so would you)  yeah, like I said you never know.

Hope for a slow night at work please, I need a break from the ... well bad things...

here's hoping for a slow night for you, night.

i enjoy hearing how everyone reads/plays shep/alenko. the differences are interesting.

I also really appreciate how everyone can talk about those different takes without resorting to stupidity. what a novel concept in a forum:?

for myself on horizons, i kept thinking "wow. poor kaidan." i really read into the "loved" as a pretty major slip for him - that while he's more in touch with his emotions than some folks, he still is having a hard time knowing what to say or do at this point. his yelling at shep really didn't bother me, i guess. for my job, i tend to get...uh..angry people often enough that getting yelled at is sort of part of the deal. i tend to think when people yell, it's more about their own problems with themselves than with the person they're yelling at. so kaidan's outburst struck me as revealing as much about his suspicions about shepard as his own guilt, hurt, doubt, etc.

i wasn't upset by kaidan so much as the no-reply thing with the email. i can only figure shep didn't want anyone reading her mail? (ecal's renegade option comes to mind again.)

edit: however, we'll see if i still feel that way about horizons after i bring this me1 char into me2. i'm particularily attached to her, so maybe it will feel different. that's the funny thing about toons...

Personally, I found Horizon to be the most uplifting part of the game.  I would have liked a better variety of dialogue options, from a roleplaying perspective, but you can't win 'em all; it still left me fuzzy for the rest of the evening.  (Then again, ME2 was hell for that particular Shepard; for her, rescuing Kaidan offered a full 30 seconds worth of "reaffirming who I am.")

I may have been reading too far into it, though - I thought the "be careful" echoed the "take care" from the first game nicely.

Tangential question: Kaidan's biotic implant.  Where the heck is it?  They're supposed to be installed in the central nervous system, right?  And you're supposed to be able to swap the amps in and out willy nilly, right?  But we see plenty of the back of Kaidan's head, so... where is it?  (Or is he wearing some kind of fancy biotic wig?)

(And, uh... Hullo, there.  Newbie, here.  *wave*)

*wave* i'm pretty new here too. only been lurking since page...1000 or so?

according to the codex, biotic amps go at the base of the skull (see wiki) i always wanted them behind the ear, for some reason. you certainly pop new ones in and out in me1. (just found the savant X though, so i'm set)

well, goodnight. i just finished obsessively doing every side quest in the game. next stop in game and fanfic: virmire. not sure how i feel about that.... :(

but thats for another time.
