Some places aren't so bad. I've only done Mordin and Garrus's recruitment so far. I'm playing Vanguard so it does mean alot of risk, so that could be why I cry. (But I love Vanguard too much to not do it).

eh *shrug* i'll try it. i am actually pretty good at biotic combos. i use barrier tho - as much to aid me in sniping as for, well, character purposes (ice queen, barriers, etc. eh, if you read the fic, you know what i mean)



what i wouldn't give for kaidan for my squad. <--- keeping it on topic here

I would advise against barrier on Insanity.  Shepard's shields go down so quickly that it makes the power useless (Barrier is a power for Veteran and below).  Shield drain boosts Shepard's barrier (if she is a biotic), it take down the shields of the enemy, and it only has a six second recharge.

Notice how is ME2 all the similar class charaters are the opposite persoalities of ME1 characters?

Wrex-Grunt
Liara-Samara

Except for Tali.  Though she is racist toward Geth.

Honestly... reave should have been covered in the Citadel Conventions and considered a war crime due to it's awesomeness.  At the Collector base me and Samara just spam area reave, followd by my lift field and finishing off the collectors with thane's unstable warp.

I don't care about the achievments so much unless they open a new skill or I can get barrier or my sniper rifle on another character.

@sagequeen: reave for vanguard. energy drain for adept. Early on don't worry about putting points into ammo powers (you have grunt and zaeed for that).  Infact I have played a vanguard that spent all points in Biotics and he just brought along someone with an ammo power.  Sorry for going off topic... I do that all the time.  Just yell at me I will get back on topic.

@ nick: ty. and it is *sort* of on topic as the whole point of it is to help shep live to me3 so she can get kaidan back and since she doesn't have kaidan in me2 to help her, she needs all her powers at their strongest.

For anyone that has been waiting for the sequel to Impsy's Demigod, it should be up in a week or two.

I got a PM from Impsy this morning with the info after I posted a review to one of her new DAO fics, where I also mentioned that I was desperately waiting for that update.

Good morning people

well, Elodie, my ruthless shepard finished virmire last night. still found myself getting a little teary eyed at virmire, i hate that we have to lose someone in ME1, yet ME2 is described as a suicide mission and we can save everyone from the crew, even Kelly.
for the first time ever, i chose the "i could never leave you behind" option when Kaidan asked why i saved him instead of Ash. I always thought that option was inappropriate for a meeting with others around. and it was, though Kaidan was sweet about it, it did make me feel guilty because he was guilty about it too.

in response to Liara's actions, I'm not sure how Kaidan would take it. I could see him being a little annoyed that Liara never mentioned it to him. being that Liara knew his feelings for Shepard, he may have felt that this was something he should've known about before finding out on Horizon. It would've sorted out alot of things if he had prior knowledge before that time.

@ stephee (and back on topic): i always found that line of his odd, too. first time i played it, i was like. "oh, this is so sad and sweet" - then liara breaks in and i realized there was an audience. mentally, i guess i have to figure that kaidan is so upset about ash and feeling guilty that he says it in a completely inappropriate context. his "sorry about what i said down there" line if you go talk to him after then makes some sense.

Yeah my Adept is an assault-rifle-wielding adept.  Kaidan will be my executive officer of the Normandy in ME3 (if he is a squadmate).  As for adepts....

When I wrote my post-Virmire conversation (which is not published anywhere yet except my own hard drive if you were wondering) I had Shepard actually get a little angry with him for bringing it up in front of the crew.  She originally claimed... well, maybe I should just post it.

“I can’t believe Ash didn’t make it.  How could we just leave her down there?” Kaidan demanded from the seat next to me, a hint of accusation in his voice.  His words cut me like a knife, but I forced myself not to snap back.

“Williams knew the risks going in, and she still volunteered to go with the Salarians,” I reminded him.  “She gave her life to save the rest of us.”

“But why me?” he asked, somewhat calmer.  “Why not her?”

I gave him a hard look.  You know perfectly well why.  Are you really
going to make me say it in front of the others?  I chose my words carefully, realizing my
answer could get me in trouble if someone chose to make an issue of it.

“We needed to guard the bomb or the mission could have failed.”

He met my gaze, obviously calling my bluff.

“Is that the only thing that was going through your mind when you made your decision?”

“Have you lost all respect for me as your commanding officer, Lieutenant?” I asked, my voice dropping into the
dangerously low register as I clung to my calm by my fingertips.  Was he trying to make me lose all credibility as a leader?

“No, ma’am.  But can you look me in the eye and say honestly that Ash didn’t die because of us? 
Because we crossed a line we never should have?”  I winced.  There’s no way they could have
misunderstood that. Now all I can do is try to limit the damage.  I guess this is why they have those regs
against fraternization… I took a deep breath to calm myself, then looked him in the eye.

 “It wasn’t your fault.  It wasn’t my fault.  The only one to blame here is Saren.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he acknowledged.  “I’m… we’ll get it done.”

Well, I actually turned her Sentinel in ME2.  Sentinel Mia + Miranda + Garrus and any shields, armor, or barriers are going down in a hurry!  I had a storyline justification for it too: she picked up a few tech tricks from Kaidan during their time together.

 i did a similar thing re: the "Because of us" line because it just seemed too weird. there were a few lines that never flew for me.

"you're a sweetheart, kaidan" being another. i just had to play with that because it was just so...not how i saw shep.

@ Jo - Yes he said it in that room but the only Alliance people in the room are him and Shepard. The rest are not Alliance and I don't think the care about the regs if they even know about them. I don't think there is any way they couldn't know the feelings between the two. As my Garrus points out they are "Living in a fish bowl." I did think it would upset her though.
