That picture is there regardless if Kaidan is alive or not in ME2. I have a playthrough with Ashley as my LI and the picture of Kaidan is still on his desk.

That's true! You'd think Anderson would mourn her death a bit more, but deep down, he's a Kaidan fan-boy.

Either it's supposed to be the person saved on Virmire or it's a misplaced item by one of the level designers. Or Anderson is proud of Kaidan and has taken him on as his protege. Unless Kaidan died on Virmire, in which case Anderson is creepily displaying his secret love for his lieutenant that he never had a chance to awknowledge openly while Kaidan was alive. Or it's like a psychological projection frame, and people only see who they want to see in the frame. For instance, if Mordin looked into the frame, he'd see Shepard.

True. I kind of consider Kaidan to be my Shepard's "bro" however I would have liked more in that aspect. I think their friendship is implied in ME2 (Kaidan's insistence on not abandoning Shepard on the Normandy was nice) and you get the sense that Kaidan still was upset and affected over Shepard's death in the Horizon conversation. But I would like some semblance of friendship for Shepards who are male or did not romance Kaidan, in ME3.Kaidan's post- eden prime talk with femshep goes a long way to establishing kaidan's character imo. he talks about his family, why he joined the military, etc. you do not get that as male shep. he just says hi as you walk out of the med bay. ash, on the other hand, gets same dialog (minus romance stuff) for male or female shep. and the time i played as male shep, kaidan says a lot less ot male shep. i know guys who have said kaidan is their bro, but i do think you don't see quite as much of his personality unless you play a femshep AND are looking for it. that's sort of kaidan - reserved. ashley is so NOT reserved though, that she comes off as friendly to male or femshep (i think)

I still think the picture on the desk should be Shepard it's the only thing that makes sense- it must be a glitch!
