Evening all, I'm older than dirt at 47 and still remember playing games in dos on our first pc, lmao, what a hunk of junk that was.

@Jho - well it would only be on long missions that the manbasket got uncomfortable, once he got back to the ship Kaidan could change into his casual uniform, although those straps could cause a bit of chafing, lmao

and just because :

I play since C64. Can't really say what, we had a lot of games, Pitfall, Giana Sisters, TLN, whoa. I remember all those weird small Russian handhelds when I was like 6 years old, I've always liked those toys. Later I've watched my brothers playing things like Rainbow Six, while I had Heroes (I like military stuff overall and my father was a soldier). Then my bro bought a PlayStation, those were good times :)
Oh, I'll be 27 in a month by the way.

I've found matching armors again. I'm a weirdo.

You think the um..manbasket thing is actually comfortable for Kaidan to wear for long periods of time? Well it has to be, I'm sure...but I can imagine him hating it. Though not as much as taking full damage in that area I'm sure lol

It's just like a cup or codpiece. I'm sure the benefits far outweigh the discomfort. Posted Image

Well, if it's there, then definitely for a reason :) Just that some armors have bright contrasted colors, so people can't stop staring paying attention to it.

Laugh at me, what I treasure the most from those games is the music. People make a lot of remixes now, so I'm in heaven. I love soundtracks, I get very emotional about music too. I couldn't make it to Video Games Live last year in Poland, I don't know if Tony and the gang plan to visit us again in the future :( They play ME themes with Jack Wall too.

Games are mostly the reason I know English too, because in elementary/high it was always German or Russian.

Edit, why do I always press new post instead of edit, dammit.

I won't laugh at you. Two of the biggest things I love are writing and music. I have dozens of game soundtracks that I could just listen to over and over again because the music is just so amazing.

And I so want to go to one of those concerts. The best concert I have ever gone to was Star Wars In Concert. It was great because it was Star Wars music for two hours, where Anthony Daniels (C3P0) told the story and then they would play musical highlights. Being as I never got to see the originals when they were released (and I'm a huge SW fangirl), it was probably one of the best moments ever.

LOL, no it's staring. Just like the lights on the Horizon armor. They draw your attention to lower attributes on his body. Posted Image

M.U.L.E

You can play it online still. Not that I've spent a night doing that...

@Jen: Yes, we are crazy, and it isn't so bad. The BF is still learning to deal with it after 7 years though.

The sharing of the day isn't terrible, just once every few years we have to share. I would never want to share the birthdya/christmas thing.

My father is Gemini (yesterday he was 73) and my aunt was (her birthday would have been today, but she has been dead for about 16 years) It was always a lark getting those 2 together! ;) I'm ten days before Xmas and people do it to me all the time <_<
What would be worst case scenario for Kaidan actor in the ME movie? For me it would be if they went for someone really young to appeal to a certain movie going demographic (don't really like the idea of the movie, tbh, but still it is OT  iygwim?)

My father´s birthday was also yesterday (74), and my little one will be nine on monday

worst case - they take an actor I hate, to young etc.  I´m not against a movie, which is settled in he ME Universe, but I can´t imagine a movie with a Commander Shepard, that would be kind of weird...

I refuse to speculate on the movie. I don't think they can get it right if they do a Shepard based movie. And Kaidan won't have Sbarge's voice, so it wouldn't be the same.

My mom turns 50 on Tuesday. I kinda feel bad for my brother and dad having to put up with two female Geminis when I was growing up.

A good soundtrack can make a great game into an amazing game! I always had a soft spot for SEGA's Skies Of Arcadia soundtrack, especially the battle music that changed as you played (if you were losing it became dire but then became a swelling uplifting piece if you turned it around) :D

I love Soundtracks and I´ve a whole playlist with all kind of them.  The last I bought was DAO

Okay this is for the writers I have a question.

I was going to read some fics because I finished the chapter I was working on. I open the kindle and find the page for Lost For Words go to the previous chapter to remind me where I am (okay sometimes I have to look at my review to find my place) I read two or three words & all of a sudden I have a scene in my head that has nothing to do with what I am reading and isn't even what I am up to in the book (walls is ready for Mordan - the scene is post Collectors)

does this happen to anyone else?

I wrote the scene of course it's got Kaidan in it ;)

Morning Night, I generally tend to avoid reading other fics when I'm in writing mode, its too much for my brain to handle and makes my writing feel inadequate, lol. but I suffer from the same thing while I'm writing something - I get an idea for a completely unrelated thing which Is why I usually have a few fics going at a time.

Yeah, I hope they do something not related to the games or Shepard, it will 'break', the illusion and immersion for many (particularly female) gamers. Especially if they went to Virmire, cos that can't end well for us lot, can it! :crying: First contact would work, we all know of it and for gamers it would flesh out our universe.
One of my favourite individual tracks is the theme for Ilos, it is beautiful fits the scenario so well. But I like a lot of Jack Wall's stuff.
I have wondered if the music for Feros is an easter egg though for people who have played Jade empire! It must be, surely?!

I work at a 911 center where we have to answer 911 calls while having one or two frequencies- my whole life is multi tasking doing two three or four things at once.

Besides I finished chapter 5 so I was finished writing because I want to play the Mordan recruitment before I write Walls 30 so reading seemed like a good idea at the time.

Every video to game movie film has been subpar and most frequently butchers the story and characters of the game it's based upon. Talented as Bioware is, I have no reason to believe they would somehow break the trend.

It's even worse if they use Commander Shepard in the movie. Using Shepard would annoy a great deal of fans, who have their own idea of what is canon for them, of who Shepard is and how Shepard acted. There's no doubt Shepard would be male in the movie - and already there you have a sizeable group of fans who are not being represented. That just goes to show that even one thing such as gender can alienate fans.

But that's not all. Shepard is going to have his own moral compass, his own love interest, his own background, his own everything, all of which have great potential to be vastly different from how the fans played and how the fans fell in love with the game. Their own personal experience will puncture, deflate, and become illusionary.

Though I'm exaggerating here. But I think many fans agree at least in part with me.

So far as Kaidan goes, one of the worst things they can do is make him completely or virtually forever in the background. Which I expect them to do.

  Yeah, I just turned 38 a couple of weeks ago (another Gemini!) and I swear I'm lucky if my mind gets past 17 most days.

I'm not a soundtrack fan but if you look in my sig you'll see just how big a music addict I am.  ;)  (Sorry for subject-jumping.  I'm playing catch-up from the last few pages.)

If they have to do it, maybe they can at least make it a buddy film, with Kaidan and Garrus.  That leaves Tali and Ash out in the cold and Liara as the love interest, though.  Seriously, there just isn't a good way to do the story they've already told.  They need a new one.

Oh, and Happy Birthday, sesh!

Hmm...on that note. I could tolerate the movie more if Shepard had no love interest and instead was just friends with his entire crew, they themselves friends with eachother. That would be much more interesting. I like Ashley and Liara (and the whole squad from both games with the exception of Morinth) but I don't like how Hollywood has to put some cheesy romance into so many movies. I heard that Megan Fox from transformers was kicked off the cast for the third movie, and they are just going to give the main character another girlfriend. Jeez.

I can't expect video game movies to be good in general, so I think that any romance would suffer from that curse as well.

Seriously, there just isn't a good way to do the story they've already told.  They need a new one.

I agree. I want something new or something that doesn't have to do with Shepard. If they did something that referenced Shepard but not Shepard's gender or choices (besides what Shepard is forced to do like stop Saren, etc) that would okay I guess. I wouldn't mind learning about Anderson and Saren.

& happy birthday to sesh. (and morning to nightodie)
