Argh, titles. I swear they're the toughest part of fic-writing.

Yeah, I agree.  Sometimes they just pop into my head but when they don't it's agony!

I totally agree with this!  I still haven't come up with a good title for the Thane one that's essentially done and published.  I need to take another run through it to clean it up and I'd love to give it a really good title but I can't think of one that isn't totally cheesy (like the one it already has).

At least The Double was pretty easy--the theme is all about double agents and double Kaidan.  Um, I mean double the fun of the game.  At least.  :wizard:

Hmm that would be odd, seeing how many could have died in ME2... so one way or the other, they need a new set of chars as well, I think. Anyway, it would be really bad form not to add the ME1 LI's to 3, in my book.

I think I'm in the minority when I say I would love the developers to add more potential squadmates into ME3. It solves the issue of what to do about a squad when there are so many different possible survival outcomes in ME2. Unfortunately more more means less development of characters sometimes, a common and justifiable complaint that many had about the girth of characters we meet in ME2.

I wouldn't want a ship full of 20-some potential squadmates that you can pick for each mission, though. I'm thinking more along the lines of how squadmates were chosen in Baldur's Gate. You could only have a party of six, so you had to pick and choose who you wanted to recruit. Would certainly give more variability to the gameplay if you on one playthrough you have a squad of paragons while another playthrough you have a squad of renegades.

But this idea only works if the developers really throw their weight into character development. I don't think they really have the time to do it that way. Where they plan to go with ME3 is an incredible mystery to me. If I speculate too much on how I'd like them to go about it, I'll probably just raise my expectations for them too high.

My only wish is that Kaidan is in it and the encounter with him is positive. Sure, I'd like it if he got to be a squadmate as well, but mostly I'm just going for positive.

I agree with you on most parts, actually. But I don't see how they could create so many characters and 'pay' for both the VO and character depth. There is only so much resources a dev can spend on a game. We'll see..

Fact that there are only a few Kaidan glimpses in ME2 means that he is more in my head though, for some reason. So I guess I have to agree with your last point as well ;)

Sia and Shenzi -- great updates on your fics!  Keep 'em coming.

@ Pacifien:  I don't object to new squaddies. It's just that Bioware does such a good job at creating likable, memorable characters that I hate to see those existing characters scrapped or reduced to walk-ons just to make room for new ones.

I do think that ME developers will manage with the possible changes to one's squad. When ME 1 came out, standard fan wisdom was that bringing squadmates forward just "couldn't be done."  Lots of reasons were given - cost of programming, VO work among them.  But they did bring forward a surpising number of minor characters and interactions into ME 2 based upon the choices you'd made in ME1.

So I do think anything is possible in regards to how they set the game up to allow us to manage our squads and bring in recruitable members from both ME1 and 2.  Unfortunately there probably does have to be a way to minimize the number of ways a scene can play out which I suspect means we'll be seeing more of the ME2 Kaidan/Ash type characterizations with a wider array of characters.  I hope not. I really hope not though but I do wonder!

lol!

I want to get that one, Jen.  When does Kaidan say that and what do you have to do to get it?

'I think we're going to need a bigger boot'? It is one of the later conversations talking about taking on the Reapers and you have to choose to say that the Turians had been around for a long time ''And we gave them a boot in the ass'', he replies deadpan ''I think we're going to need a bigger boot, Commander'', I love it it really tickles me :o

I've never managed to get that line of Shepard's, though.  Which one is it?  The renegade response?

I am fairly sure that a BioWare statement said that we would be surprised at how many would be recruitable for 3.
I would love to see a situation were you could pick a set number from all party members across the first two games, that would be great. If they said you can have say, ten party members and you had to drop the rest *cough* Tali *cough cough* ;)

Hmm that would be odd, seeing how many could have died in ME2... so one way or the other, they need a new set of chars as well, I think. Anyway, it would be really bad form not to add the ME1 LI's to 3, in my book.

And if I can choose 10, apart from Kaidan, Mordin would be on that list, with Garrus and Tali. That means there are about 6 spots still to fill.

/skips any discussion on Tali vs Miranda

I think BioWare are hoping that players care enough to save the team ;) I know I couldn't let any of them die. I do like Tali, but agree with others about her over enthusiasm. While I would never let her die if I could only have ten she would most likely be one of the characters I drop only because I am more interested in many of the others.
I totally would have Mordin, it is a no brainer he is one of the best written characters in the game and delightful to talk to (not to mention an absolute killing machine) :) I also would love to keep Samara, I like the way she talks, same goes for Thane. If it was Tali v Miranda I'd take Tali, Miranda doesn't interest me + with Tali, I could visit the migrant fleet and talk to Kal Reeger again :D

I was going for the most obnoxious thing I could think of when I named my fic, think I did a pretty good job in that department. Posted Image

As far as the smut goes, when JBHWTBA was a 3 chapter concept it wasn't on the radar, but by chapter 14 I figured it was about time I gave a shot at it.   I kept showing it to Star and Night as I wrote it yesterday going "Am I in cheesy romance novel territory?" with each part of it.
