@Night: I don't believe you started a war. We're discussing things nicely and not calling anyone names. Most fanfic writers write for themselves. (I do anyway.)

QFE I second that, personally I'm open to anyone's interpretations, that's what actually gives me food for thought, and more material. Some of them I like, some of them I don't like, some I find totally off, and I discard them, and I suppose that's what we all do, not only here, but everywhere in our lives. If everybody had the same belief the world would be so boring. And I find that in cases like this, we all project attributes consciously or unconsciously to characters. That's why my Shepard has short hair and yours medium or long, as a very small example.

As for the flame, you should see the disappointment-with-ME2 thread, lol *that's* flaming Posted Image. I wrote "I can see you on the horizon" because I needed to, and I had been feeling the need to "repair" that scene in my mind for many months now. I am glad people liked it, but its primary role was to provide me with some closure. And I guess if I do go on with the idea I am having right now, I'll do it for the same reasons. To patch up, repair and fill in the gaps that I feel there are there, and give me some satisfaction through closure, whether that be good or bad, regardless. I'll be more than glad if other people like it, if and when it gets off the ground and is finished, but as Night said, I'll mainly do it for my own soul Posted Image. It's like one of Jho's images I looked at yesterday where it said in the caption" because I needed it". Exact same principle.

Luv you all, keep on giving me ideas!

Now this is why avoid fan fiction. It sometimes gives you "wrong" impression and you start to ascribe ceratin character traits to the character you like. It is quite natural thou, but I still prefer to follow the original plots, storylines and characters.

That's why it's fan facition though. As the author, you are allowed to give your own personal take and interpretation. It's what is intended. As I'm only the reader, I can't say why the author is ascribing those traits to the character, other than that's how it seemed to them. I may not agree with it from my own interpretation, but so long as the author does a compellig job in their writing, I can be made to see it for their story.

In my stories, the #1 thing I try to remind myself of when writing Kaidan is that he is a marine.

I actually prefer fics that don't just retell ME1 and ME2 or if it is going to I want new scenes that explore the story further, such as with Sinrvaal's writing.

Everyone has their own take on Kaidan, I know my Kaidan isn't the same as how other fic writers portray him, but I enjoy reading how everyone else interprets him, if I find a story where I just totally disagree with how he's portrayed I don't continue reading it.

@AkodoRyu Yeah as I said, that's the impression I've gotten from the two games, I haven't read any novels or what not that's in the middle and definitely won't, cause I find it a cheap franchise trick, so I'm sticking to the impression the games have made.

Problem is, ME is a vast universe with many possibilities, so I guess this is unavoidable. This has been done to Guild Wars too lately (ANet wants to fill a gap of 250 years between GW and GW2), but I seem to easily ignore this type of franchise, for two lame and simple reasons - 1) it's problematic to import those things to Poland, and 2) i can't really afford it. I've learned to refuse myself some things.

Octarin wrote...
And that impression was there to begin with in ME1, and was heavily reinforced with the meeting on Horizon in ME2.

Ant that impression is similar to mine. You simply formed that in words, so I was kinda... too enthusiastic. *snorts* I'm a former rabid fangirl with many habits and add to this being really liable (is that a good word?) to suggestions. So...

Octarin wrote...
I don't much get the "wrong"-ness you're referring too, cause I haven't read any fanfiction as of yet, not from the KAAS and not on that subject. So, maybe you're just saying your pov from the games is correct and mine is wrong? I think that would be a foollish claim, and vice versa. It is most certain that I will unearth that pov in my work, so I'm reckoning you won't be a fan, when I do. I'll keep it in mind, and let you know

...What I wanted to say is that other people pov's cloud my own. I have problems with forming opinions, so I try to avoid any sources that aren't canon. I didn't wanted to mention my low grade in English, because that looks like justifying, but still.

I read only funnies, because they short, and simply make me laugh. And usually there's not much things in my life that make me do that (maybe except that my love behind me decided he's wearing only boxer-shorts today. We share apartment, and our "rommie" invites his friends from time to time. Like today).

@Night: please don't get me wrong, I do not say ff is, um "bad". I'm fan too.

Good afternoon,

just sneaked in here...

Fanfics are fun to read. I love the different written storylines. Some makes me laugh, some makes me sad etc. I don´t care if the story is canon or not, as long as it entertains me... And I haven´t found one yet, which I didn´t like... Also I love to see the different takes on Kaidan and also femshep (can´t say anything about male Shepard, because I haven´t read anything yet). Some of it is similar of my imagination, some is different. But that´s the fun of it. Who knows, maybe I start even writing myself one day ;-)

Anyway before I start to bubble more, I think it´s great that people can be so creativ and now I´ve to go back to RL...:-)

It's a Cerberus plot.  They obviously didn't wire up the part of her/his brain that stored the how to send emails knowledge while they were doing the rebuild.  The comm room seems to only be capable of receiving messages from TIm as well, and is obviously unable to be used for getting in touch with anyone else in the galaxy.

I'm going to be serious here even while I think you're not being that serious.

The unable to send an email yourself is frustrating, but I guess also understandable because of gameplay reasons. It would have been nicer to have a talk like the spacer has with her/his mom in ME1.

The comm room is indeed only capable of sending these holo things with TIM. If you ask EDI in that room, you get some pseudo-tech of some point to point technology. I can see why timmy doesn't want you to be able to contact the world with a normal comm link though. You could *gasp* actually do something without him!

Haha, you ain't wrong there! I am really curious to see how they handle that in ME3. I have a Shepard somewhere who has handed the reaper to TIM, it'll be interesting to see the differences... Also I'd like to see what happens when you, inexorably, fall out with TIM, and what Miranda and Jacob choose to do.

Hot damn that's absolutely hilarious! Thanks for sharing! Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

"Will you stop saying that." Miranda murmured pacing the small C-Sec cell. "This can't have been the first time you've been arrested."
"It's the first time I've gotten his mother arrested."

says it all. just says it all. no words!!! Posted Image

I reloaded a finished game after I had archived it and played out that scenario as well, I'd have to check but I'm assuming it's my renegade play though.

As I copy out ME2 games to back them up on my data server, I'm now also storing a text file with each one so that when ME3 rolls around I actually have a reference for the decisions I made with each character.

*Swoops in*

Popping in briefly (busy, will catch up later) Check out what just came through on the E3 news feed on my FB

''GameSpot has posted a big interactive floor plan, showing what's going to be on the showroom floor at E3 next week. Curiously, there are at least three new games on there.

If you hover over the EA booth, you'll see that both Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2 are listed as games that'll be there to check out. And over on Tecmo's booth, Dead or Alive 5 is there as a featured game.''

''Now, none of these games will come as a surprise to anyone. They're sequels to big franchises, and expected ones at that. But I doubt many of you will have expected a new Mass Effect or Dragon Age to make a public appearance so soon, particularly since this time last year Mass Effect 2 and the first Dragon Age weren't even out.

These could be typos; then again, they could be a slip on the part of GameSpot. Guess we'll find out next week! We've contacted everyone involved, and will update if we hear back.'' :-)
