I doubt we'll see him in any trailers, art or promotional stuff. They use default male so Ash would be there, most likely. 
It'd be cool to see Ash again but... poor Kaidan.

Well, the very first info we had for Mass Effect 2 was that teaser that showed Legion and the log that said Commander Shepard was dead...I expect that if ME3 is at E3 this year, it will be a short snippet like that, something that will get people talking but won't give any real details away. I'm still EXTREMELY interested, of course, but not expecting much.



Oh, and if there is any sign of Kaidan or Ashley, I will be very, very, very happy.

Well, as I was saying to the ME1 LI group, this means they maybe have the gameplay the way they wanted it and now they're working on the story aspects. This also potentially means that the multiplayer isn't part of the game and that it's for another game in the ME universe.

Sorry Fort, avoiding the twit-crack today, as it keeps error-messaging me about being over capacity.  I has not the patience.

I also believe the MP stuff is for whatever they're working on after ME3, but I suppose that could just be wishful thinking.  *shrugs*  And that they are focusing more on the story rather than adapting the gameplay much more for ME3.  Almost everyone loved ME2 gameplay, after all.  *attempts to pretend to wait patiently for proper ME3 news*

Do you remember when they made that announcement and there were those people on the old forums running around yelling "Shepard is a Geth"?  I can't wait to see what people start saying this time.
