Guys you think an official Joker fan club would take? I am considering making it... could use some input .
Joker does already have an official thread and group. They're not very active though, so if you wanted to join and add some oomph, I'm sure it'd be appreciated.
Yeah, I talked to NICKjnp and he said he'd be moving the thread to the characters classes builds forum where it belongs, and I'll talk to a Mod to see if we can get to change the title from "shag-a-Joker" to something closer to The Joker Fanclub or something. Feel free to lend a hand if you want!

Thank you. And thank you to everyone else who said nice things about it. I wasn't sure how it would go over...and I've heard from two different sources that it was 'unexpected'. Is that good? Unexpected funny? Unexpected not funny?

I so agree. I've never thought of Kaidan as a loner. I think he has more casual friends than close friends, what with the personal reserve and the avoidance of crowds/clubs as migraine magnets, (cause soldiers do tend to hang out in noisy bars, I have noticed...
And, he's a very effective Marine, who's never lost a squad member, and Marines are the most-hardcore of the armed service anyways... so Kaidan would indubitably kick-ass.
(Though present-day Marines don't train medics, cause that's what squibs are for. The Navy takes 'em where they need to go, and patches them up afterwards, but the Marines do all the work. ^_~ Sorry, must make Navy jokes.. my husband's in the Army, and its our job to make fun of the cousin-in-law and Uncle who used to be in the Navy.

Unexpected funny with some surprising in-depth characterization from me... not that your stuff being funny is unexpected, but the angle you took it in was new and shiny? Don't know, but Mrs. Alenko is awesome.

Not many fics with Mrs. Alenko starring in them.
I loved it.
Jury duty sucks, but I'm glad to live in a country that uses it. So, no, I haven't finished 15 & 16 of aPoV yet.

I think he has more casual friends than close friends, what with the personal reserve and the avoidance of crowds/clubs as migraine magnets, (cause soldiers do tend to hang out in noisy bars, I have noticed...), but he'd still be a well-respected, well-liked fellow at all his postings, I'd think. Gets the job done, sneaky sense of humor... he'd do fine.
And, he's a very effective Marine, who's never lost a squad member, and Marines are the most-hardcore of the armed service anyways... so Kaidan would indubitably kick-ass.

LOL, my husband was army, my sister was navy. His dad and his mother were Marines, my dad was in the Air Force. I figure I get to make fun of them all.
But yes, the fics I can't read are the ones that turn Shepard and Kaidan into a Harlequin romance couple and forget entirely that they're marines and considered the best of the best. Especially Shepard.

Oh, ouch! Jury duty. I had my first brush with it in December.
Don't worry, Sia, we can be patient. Sometimes :innocent:

Ah, yes, I have Air Force in-laws too, so I can mostly make fun of everyone! Except Marines, cause they're scary.
In general, living on a joint-services post... military stereotypes: the Marines are hard-core, the Air Force are arrogant flyboys, the Army's full of dumb-grunts, and the Navy is the giant/floating taxi-service.
In general, for sci-fi settings, I see the Army/Air Force being recombined and relegated to planet-bound police force types, while the Navy takes the Marines all over outer space to do the serious combat work. *shrugs*

Read David Weber's Honor Harrington series. That's what he did.
Yeah.. I don't make fun of my Father-in-law too much, even though my husband's just a shorter version of him. He's still scary.
So, yes... Kaidan and Shepard... on the personally terrifying to the average human scale? Huge. Big. Intimidating as hell.
I'd still check out his ass, though. :innocent:

You're right, I think like David Weber! Awesome.
And yes, to both the scary and the checking out his ass... Marines have the hottest dress uniform ever. *sighs* I remind my husband of their awesomeness every time he has to wear his class A's, cause they're just not as nice. Cheaper though. *snorts* He actually agrees that the Marine uniform is better, especially since he doesn't really like the new ASU's much, but says it's not worth being a Marine just for that.

It's the sword.
It's the walk like they know a 1001 ways to disassemble a person with their bare hands. Unfortunately, it doesn't cross over well into pixels. But Shepard, Kaidan, and Ashley should have all moved a certain way. It can't be captured in a game due the limits of animation, I'll acknowledge that, but the fic writers should be aware of it.

I <3 the sword, 'tis true. And the scary swagger.
And you have just given me a great idea for some poor intimidated hostess when Kaidan tries to make a dinner reservation... *snickers*

That I can't wait to read. Can't decide whether to drool or shake in terror? I usually go with drooling, myself.

Good choice.I heartily empathize. There are limits to writing in first person, the lack of random NPC POVs are one of them.
(And my husband looked damned sexy in his class "As.")
First person is hard, yes, cause even if you know something, if you're POV person doesn't... *sighs*
And my husband does too, I just can't resist teasing as he's less than thrilled w/the new uniform.
eta: sexy class A's!
