thanks! that works beautifully.
@ star: that sounds like a nice SMG. sadly, i am saving kasumi's mission until after horizons. after all that, i will need time shooting stuff in a dress to raise my spirits.
and i want to let her keep the greybox, but i don't feel my shep would be in a place to do that until after horizons. so...i guess i'm metagaming so as not to metagame? o.O

I have rarely used the Cain. I prefer the Missle Launcher when the Beam isn't applicable.
That's likely going to be me at a lot of places, but I know where I normally saved up ammo for fights on lower difficulties, so I'll likely do the same on Insanity.

Not necessarily meta-gaming. Would Kyrie want to go help Kasumi with her mission that early, or would she be more inclined to just recruit people to start?

I'm like that sometimes too. I had to learn to break that tendency in my insanity run- the tough battles are precisely what HW ammo is for. The same thing used to frustrate the heck out of me in my DA:O playthroughs. I would lose a battle 5 or 6 times before I would finally admit that maybe I should use my health poultices or lyrium potions.

Because the sequence is the same for Kaidan or Ashley, I tend not to think Kaidan's biotics helped him escape stasis. However, I think as soon as the defense towers started shooting at the ship, the Collectors immediately stopped their plans and decided to get the hell out of Horizon. The stasis fields lifted at this point, and Kaidan probably made straight for the defense towers to figure out how they ever started working properly.
See, that's more in line with how I see things.

Indeed. Your first pointer should include not asking out women who are talking to you about their recent dates and how much they hate men.Friend Zone Turian wrote...
Maybe I could use a few pointers from our friend Kaiden to pick up a girlfriend, eh?

I don't think the biotics did much to affect how long Kaidan would have been frozen, either, but I tend to think of the stasis as more literally the result of venom that has to wear off rather than being linked to the presence of the Collector ship.sapphyreelf wrote...

Kaidan was pretty straightforward about his interest, perhaps you should watch some self-help vids, like "That Quarian Is Just Not That Into You" or "The Game, Part LVII".

I don't think it's so much venom as some kind of nano-machine. Which is why I think it is linked.
They always talk about how much tech has been integrated into the Collectors, courtesy of the Reapers.

i guess my thinking is that
1) shep trusts the alliance, but after horizons, may be thinking that perhaps the alliance has been playing her as much as cerberus and so will want to see for herself what's going on with the data
2) after horizons, shep is so distraught over kaidan that she figures she has no right to tell another woman how to get over her lover, and so lets kasumi take her time grieving.
but at the beginning of the game, shep would still be an alliance girl to the core (mine is, anyhow) and would just destroy anything that seems dangerous to the alliance. <-- that's where i meant metagaming. i purposefully placing the dlc into the narrative where i think it makes sense to make the decision i want to carry over into me3.

I should rephrase, perhaps. I think of the little bugs as cyborgs, much like the Collectors, as little attack-syringes. But the idea that they're injecting nanobots creeps me out too much. Who knows what they'd do to your insides even if you don't get podded. Preliquification? [shudder]sapphyreelf wrote...

just sneak in, between playing ME 1, watching soccer, reading ff and a little bit of drawing.
Insanity is still to far up, to stay alive playing hardcore still keeps me busy, even so I start to get used to it ... and I´m just talking about ME1 ;-)
I believe that Kaidan escaped the stasis maybe earlier and and was hiding himselft first and came out, when the Collectors started to leave.

First off though, try spelling correctly darling. We'll see about the rest if you have the nerve to stick around.

lol...or you're just thinking about it from a story perspective. I played it both ways myself and since Horizon is such a disappoint to me as regards Kaidan, my Shep found it rather comforting to have an effective weapon to take down the bad guys with so she could get the heck outta there more quickly.

Okay, I wrote a baby chapter of The Swing of Things just to see if anyone thought it was worth pursuing. The description was as follows: The Alliance is the military and the military always has a band. Forget marching bands: we're talking about a jazz combo, classical music into the 2200s. Why were so many of the crew of the SR-1 so comfortable with each other? Well, I'll tell you.

found this pic, which i must share:

Shepard: So wait, wha...? Your helmet comes off?
Kaidan: Yeah. That's because I'm a squadmate. Like, for the whole game.
Shepard: Really?
Kaidan: Yeah. I'm the love interest for you. If you're interested, that is.
Shepard: You're a love interest? With that haircut?
Kaidan: (nervously) Yeah, the devs got drunk one night and were listening to Elvis...
Shepard: I see. Well, you've got a good voice. That helps.
Kaidan: I have a nice man-basket, too. See?
Shepard: Indeed. Quite impressive.
Jenkins: I have a um...I have that, too.
Shepard: It's not as good as in the light armor.
Kaidan: I get even better when I'm in the casual uniform. You can actually see my awesome biceps.
Shepard: Nice. Show me.
Kaidan: Just...let's get to the end of Eden Prime here. You'll see. I'll look really cute in the following cut scene. I promise. I'll actually start to look like a love interest then.
shepard: And here I thought you were just a red-shirted ensign - gonna die in the next five minutes.
Kaidan: Ah, no. That's him. *points at Jenkins*
Jenkins: Aw sh*t. How do I take this helmet off? Guys? Guys? How do I get the helmet off?!
:innocent:
