I managed to cosplay at GenCon once... it is a lot of fun. (I had really simple costumes, though.) Someday I'd love to try it again. We had a whole group then, so we were getting stopped for pictures a lot.

A group for ME would be tricky though, as the armor would be a bit hard to make. I suppose a group in fatigues, a la the Alliance crew in the first game might work. Have to be comfortable in the really tight shirts though... *laughs*

eta: thanks Tigrina, glad I could entertain. I wish in vain for the picture skills, but am happy at least the words have been co-operating lately.

@Night. aww, thanks again.
And, as I fail at the art, have a random Kaidan encounter instead.
And... I can't remember the name of my favorite armor from ME1, cause I never really paid proper attention. Will have to watch better next time through.

Now that is my favorite kind of random encounter :o  Pity they didn't implement such a feature in ME2.

you should.  It's all your fault, the whole, 'people should notice the marine swagger' conversation. ;)  I'm still stuck on Chapter 13, but Lani noticed the sexy-marine-man.

Happy 1600 pages! So much Kaidan love. <3 And for good reason too.

So here's a question for you guys ... In what ways is Kaidan better than Jacob? I'm sure I'm forgetting some which is why I need your opinions.

Kaidan is pretty different from Jacob.

Kaidan is loyal to the Alliance, because he believes in working within the system, while Jacob joined Cerberus because he didn't want to deal with bureaucracy.

Kaidan talks about his past, in the context of expressing concern about how Shepard is doing, while Jacob is extremely reluctant to talk about himself, and only asks how Shepard is doing near the end of the romance.

Kaidan is pretty straight forward about his interest in Shepard, while with Jacob, Shepard practically throws herself at him, while he says he's not big on talks half the time.

If Shepard turns down Kaidan in the love scene, he responds that he'll wait and he's eager for the future.  If Shepard turns down Jacob, he calls her a tease.

Kaidan is also more useful as a squadmate, and purely in my opinion, had better, more fun banter with other party members.

I really like that idea, but I cannot find a similar camo pattern for the life of me.  Sure there's lots of blue tricolor, but they all use black as the darkest color, and if you look at the Alliance uniforms carefully, the darkest color is a deep blue.  Getting highly annoying.

I would be no help with that bit. Did I mention the 'simple' part of my costumes? We had a Sandman day, and I was Nuala... for the Sailormoon day I was the cat, rather than dealing with an actual school-girl/senshi costume. And my OC just needed a fancy dress, black wings, and a wig. I made NOTHING. Besides dyeing my shoes pink for Nuala.

@Fort: I have heard the same. Then again, I still haven't gotten the Kasumi DLC, for all that she actually sounds interesting. *shrugs*

incidentally, if there was kaidan costuming going on, which would you want, onyx light armor or the horizons lighted thing?

Horizon... onyx is ugly and makes Kaidan look kind of wimpy.

If I did get one of those costumes I wouldn't be able to decide between a scout trooper or just.... the regular stromtrooper stoof.

Kaidan > Jacob romance.

I prefer Kaidan's skills to Jacob's as a squadmate. I do like both characters, though. Jacob;s unpopularity seems to mostly come from the romance.

I haven't gotten a single dlc for any xbox gave I have besides Halo 3, but that was a couple years ago.

@Batteries: I bought Pinnacle station, cause I actually liked BDtS, but I never played it. Has not inspired me to play any of the ME2 DLC either. *shrugs* Haven't played any DAO DLC besides Shale, either. (Shale is awesome though.)

And, the skanky Shep voice has prevented me from playing the Jacob romance, but Jacob himself isn't a bad character... a basically nice guy, if a bit brash and impatient, and apparently a lousy security officer, judging from all the Mech's at the Lazarus station. *snorts*

Kaidan makes a point of taking his job seriously, of keeping his men alive, of being meticulous and following the rules to keep people safe, while Jacob seems to fit into the Cerberus mindset of accepting much higher collateral damage to get done what he wants to get done.

I seem to be in the minority when it comes to armor preference. I like Kaidan's ME1 armor better because it has a sleeker look to it. In fact, in general, I found the ME1 armors to be much more pleasing to look at than the ME2 armor.

Not only this, but they seem more functional than some of the bulkier armors. I mean, how does someone raise their arms with those gigantic pauldrons?

and I find myself agreeing w/Fort again... in case my previous post didn't explicate very well, I prefer the ME1 armor to Horizon too, I just can't remember which one in particular. *shrugs*

And, yes, TZ definitely hit all the high points w/her Jacob/Kaidan list. Go Teen!

Yeah I agree with Teen on those points for Kaidan > Jacob and I'll agree that I hate the way femshep talks to him.

Add to the list - Kaidan doesn't 'sneak' into the captains cabin, nor refer to Shepard as a priiiiizeee.

Armour - what Fort said, although I don't like the colossus armour on Kaidan. As I said earlier Predator L X is the best one, lol

@Jillie - loved the short fic

Yeah, I don't like the colors of the Colossus armor on Kaidan. The bright red looks ick.

Mercenary, Predator and Ursa look nice on him (the more muted colors).

Yessum on the Merc armor, that always looked cool.
