I don't see why people view it as getting dumped. It's a fight and all, but neither party says that they're through with the other person.

"I trust you; I just don't trust Cerberus," is what Kaidan says. He's adamant that he won't join a terrorist group.

Then again, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you haven't played the scene yet. Just try to take how feels about the whole thing into consideration is all I ask :)

Then again, if "clinically dead" nullifies marriage, it probably nullifies oblique romances.  (Depending on whether Kaidan believes the clinically dead bit - at least one conversation option makes him sound like he does.)

Thus, no breakup is required, and lo do we start back at square one for ME3.  :?

I love love love all those Kaidan screenshots. Since I am far from starting ME2, I am not even sure if my Shep is going to stay faithful to Kaidan. I think I'm going to decide when I'm getting there depending on how I feel during the entire "getting dumped" scene.

I would be inclined to say that Kaidan does not in fact dump you during the infamous "getting dumped" scene.  But I may be reading too far between the lines in search of complexity.  (I'll be interested to hear how you come away from it).

That's what I sad too XD

To be fair, J4N3 hasn't played it yet. But a lot of folks think it's dumping for some reason. I view it as a fight and they're unable to work things out yet.

i would just call it the "confronted on horizon" scene. I love it when he takes a stand though. :3 Oh Kaidan you can be firm with me -any- day of the week

I think it could be treated as either in ME3. Be able to get it back up again or say "wait, what? I thought we were over. I went and blew up some collectorz base beyond zee omega 5 relay and stuuf too."

Probably icing on the cake for him too if you saved the base. XD

Oh well, my main Shepard romanced nobody because she thinks love is for suckers and she saved the base.

When Shepard wakes up, she and Kaidan are still together in her mind because a few weeks have passed.

To Kaidan, it's been two years. He's attempted to move on but has failed at it. From his email, it sounds like his friends talked him into the date and he agreed so he could try to feel normal again. Also from his email, he says that he wants to try to be with Shepard again, but he leaves it as an open question.

Is it cheating?

I think that in Shepard's case, it would be cheating or in the very least, a rebound. I don't understand how she'd be able to get over a previous love that hurt her that quickly to fall for another man within a matter of 2-3 weeks.

On Kaidan's side, it's more complicated. His email makes it sound like the date with the doctor was a casual setup date. If they were actually something more than a casual date, I think he'd tell Shepard that he was in a relationship with someone. The last bit of his email tells Shepard to be careful and that he wouldn't be able to stand losing her again. He has a flicker of hope that maybe there's a chance for them again.

So, would Kaidan call it cheating? No, but he'd be absolutely devastated.

Firm

But in all seriousness, I think him not joining and sticking to his morals was excellent. He doesn't follow Shepard like a wussy whimp that people think he is.

I know you didn't play it yet. =]

I got carried away with the technicalities behind the relationship in ME2. It wasn't aimed at you, I promise. It was more of a general commentary ^_^

I guess depending on how strong of a relationship they perceive them as having, it could be getting dumped for some folks' Shepards.  But I tend to think that both Shepard and Kaidan are strong-willed enough (Renegading Kaidan aside) that worse arguments are gonna happen, if they hadn't already.

I try to lighten my Shepard's idiotic dialogue choices as a combination of shock and her intentionally being un-Shepard-like in an attempt at salvaging the situation.  Alas, Kaidan did not pick up on her subtle gestures and articulation that were meant to get additional meaning past the SPYING CERBERUS OPERATIVES standing right behind her, such as, "Dude!  Akuze?  Kidnapped!  Experimented On!  Possibly Wired!  Send Help!"

("But," she says, "At least he stayed with the Alliance.")

Badly written circular logic that perhaps seemed better in planning than in execution.  You're Cerberus because the Alliance won't touch you because you're Cerberus... because the Alliance won't touch you... because you're... yeah.

And Shepard may have lost a few brain cells in that mostly-dead-experience.

I agree with J4N3...

I'm much more a fan of abs/hips than butts. A butt is... a butt...

But abs. Those take a crapton of working out to get looking good.
