/hasn't actually see that dialogue with Liara, should try to get that :)

i think i got that one when i arrived on citadel for the second time. that's when i took liara and kaidan with me. it was in one of the elevators, if not the very first one that takes you from the normandy to the citadel academy. I dont really know for sure anymore. I just noticed that dialogue because i found it so sweet.

Huh.  I don't usually take Liara too many places.  I guess I'll have to try that on my next run.  Normally Kaidan and Garrus hog all of the screen time.  ^_^

And if you're all looking for another little tidbit from The Double, Chapter 23 is now posted.

As I understand it, the implant refits are dangerous and potentially deadly.  I think it's a matter of, "Well, the migraines suck, but they aren't going to make it worse/kill me."

That makes a lot of sense, actually.

I've just started getting them in the past 2 years, so I guess I'm still in that stage where people's ignorance pisses me off. Maybe in time I'll learn to accept it.

When someone asks me what it's like, I tell them this:
Think of the worst hangover you've had. Now multiply that by a few times. You want to cry because it hurts but you're afraid that it'll make it worse. And after that, you lay in bed, gripping your forehead, rolling in pain and actually wishing for death.

Also, when I get frequent headaches along with occasional migraines. They make me very snippy at times.

Do you guys think Kaidan gets cluster headaches that go into an occasional migraine? I'm under the impression that his head hurts somewhat almost every day.

I do describe it the exact same way. Although I am used to the pain by now. I've been having it since I was 13. I also have Fibromyalgia. So I'm like the queen of pain haha but like I said, I am used to it since I know there's things worse than that. Everyone just has to find their own way to deal with it.

I hope Kaidan doesn't get cluster too. Because I have them from time to time and to be honest, pain-wise they are worse than any migraine i have ever had. Or other pain for that matter.

The problem with pain is that it affects the whole body. And that's another reason why I don't think that the entire migraine story in ME is just a good matter of research. Even if you research it, meditation is not the first thing that comes up in pain treatment. That's usually something for chronic-pain patients like me. And even there a lot of people who are offered the chance refuse it, for the simple fact that it takes a lot of practice and therefore a lot of time until you see results. And I don't think that someone would research THAT much just for ONE dialogue line in an elevator-scene of a video game.

Either way, off topic, meditation helps a lot. Relaxing too. .And of course distracting yourself from the pain, which is hard but can be done. Just takes time and a lot of practice. Trust me, i KNOW this from my own personal experience. :)

Yes! :wizard:

I like this idea. And he doesn't necessarily share it...

After 1st mission:

Kaidan: My implants really hurt sometimes... but then sometimes they feel reeeeally goooooddd :pinched:

Shepard: Uhh....

as for shrugging off a simple headache...i think that has something to do with how your body reacts to it. for all i know chronic pain causes your body to react to it. and it reacts by shifting (i dont know if thats the right word) synapses. my neurologist once said that it kinda re-programmes the way you experience pain. the less intense the pain, the less it bothers you. if that makes any sense. sorry, i'm kinda lacking the vocabulary here....like, i am in constant pain, but i don't even realize it anymore because i am just used to it. yet if the pain gets worse or reaches a level that i haven't experienced before or in a long time, that's when i notice it. it is indeed hard to explain. hence why i said that Kaidan would rather take the pain than the drugs. pain is something you can handle, while you can't handle the drugs you take to control your pain. god, i am so not making any sense here. :?

@J4n3

I think the meditation recommendation is an asari thing. There's an asari on Noveria that's meditating to remain calm during the rachni attack. Samara meditates as well.

The asari strike me as a society with more Eastern ideals, so perhaps meditation is part of that.

I don't think there's a really...appropriate time for him to share that, in-game.  That's more a fic moment.

I get what you're saying totally.  If a type of pain becomes familiar enough, it becomes gradually less painful.

To use a non-medical kind of example:
People who get multiple tattoos and piercings eventually know what to expect so they can better deal with the pain.

I used to get migraines, caused by a structural problem with my jaw. When they said they could most likely get rid of my migraines but they would have to break my jaw to do it I didn't hesitate to have the surgery.

Now I only have to deal with the day to day pain issues caused by my fibromyalgia but I've been dealing with that for over 20 years now.

I don't remember any classic statues as well-endowed as Ms. Justicar, there.  Or were the Greeks big on strippers?  :o

they were definitely big on sex... and nudity.  As for well-endowed... can't say I remember any classical eastern statues that were well-endowed.

I don't have migraines but the eldest teen was dignosed as a migraine sufferer at the tender age of 5. thankfully he seems to be growing out of them but it used to be horrible watching a kid writhe around the floor clutching his head. Never found out what triggered them but did notice that he seemed to get them more often if he went for any length of time without a drink, so maybe a bit of dehydration. This could be a cause of Kaidans as well. especially if he's involved in a long mission/battle.

I see the Turians as Spartans or something, but not the asari.

I still think the asari are eastern, given their culture and philosophy on life.

I'm pretty sure the Asari were modeled after ancient greece.  The Salarians were modeled after India.  The Turians were modeled after feudal Japan.

This is very off-topic... so one of you girls post a Kaidan pic or something.
