Technically in ME1, Wrex was the Vanguard. You got one of each character type as a squadmate.

Only if that Sentinel is Kaidan. Miranda... not so much.
Would I speak of any other sentinel?

Good morning everyone...Happy B-day Night & Sapphy....I hope you both enjoy your day...I noticed that as I get older my b-day doesn't seem so important...but then again I usually work on my b-day
I think my birthday stopped being a deal when I turned 8
Mine already passed way back in the beginning of January.
I also like the Infiltrator the most in the games. I like the tech an having a sniper from the get go! A sentinel playthrough was a lot of fun, and my adept is pretty fun too. I never got around to getting anywhere with a soldier player and never got that far with my vanguard.
Barrier is also quite the sexy move.
Happy Birthday/Father's Day to all the people who it applies too <3

Vanguards are adrenaline junkies.
I see Adepts as being a little more tactically inclined, since they're the squishiest.
Max out everything on the adept except for pull and shockwave (one point in pull and no points in shockwave) then give the adept either Heavy Barrier (to be able to take hits) and a shotgun or Heavy Warp ammo (to be able to dish out major damage) and an AR. That is how you turn a squishie adept in to a heavy weapon.
This is how I prefer Jorgen Shepard lvl 30 adept
Lvl 4 Heavy Warp
Lvl 4 Heavy Throw
Lvl 4 wide singularity
Lvl 1 pull
Lvl 0 shockwave
Lvl 4 Nemesis
Lvl 4 Heavy Warp ammo or Heavy Barrier (only after you get Jack* specialized in squad warp ammo)
*Max Jack's shockwave and warp ammo (leave pull alone). Bring Samara with you to set up warp detonations. This is how Jack and Samara should be set up.
Jack
Lvl 4 Heavy Shockwave
Lvl 0 pull
Lvl 4 Primal Adept
Lvl 4 Squad Warp ammo
Samara
Lvl 3 throw
Lvl 2 pull
Lvl 4 Sapiens-Justicar (the one with 25% power cool down)
Lvl 4 Heavy Reave (Area Reave for veteran and below)

I agree, so much.
Charge really emphasized this too. It's like my favorite skill ever.
you're saying kyrie is squishy?
i do like vanguard - my original was a vanguard. i just want to be where i can see everybody - the baddies, my squaddies - the whole field. then we use whatever we've got to bring the baddies out of cover and bring them down.
barrier is sexy. i love it.

i don't see adepts as squishy once they get their powers on. i see them... ummm... crane style to vanguard's tiger style - if we're using a kung fu metaphor. adepts are hella deadly, in a really unexpected way, but if they get overwhelmed, it goes downhill fast
that's my take.
and since that's getting far afield and i need to go make deviled eggs...
"Squishy, ma'am? I don't think of you like that...ah...*blush*... I mean... What has Joker been telling you I said?"

Lvl 0 cryo ammo
Lvl 4 Heavy Charge
Lvl 4 Heavy Shockwave
Lvl 4 Pull field
Lvl 4 Champion
Lvl 4 Area Reave (I bring Samara for her area reave and we can spam it like crazy... it is glorious

Weapon Loadout: AR (Vindicator), Shotgun (Scimitar), SMG (Tempest) and Heavy Pistol (Carnifax Hand Cannon)
I bring Jack and Samara or Jack and Thane for post horizon Collector Missions. Otherwise I bring squadmates with squad ammo powers plus Miranda or Thane. On the derelict reaper I bring Garrus and Samara (squad armor piercing rounds and area reave).

You'd choose someone who's extent of biotic ability is to lift a clunky, scrawny mech into the hair and drop it 2 feet?

Although I knew not to use him.. in their defense his loyalty power is barrier. Did you know that Mordin was originaly planned on being a biotic and to be able to do the barrier run like Jack and Samara? Here is the extracted sound files.

That would of been awesome, a biotic scientist salarian.
But Mordin just needs to breathe to be awsome.
EDIT: And alas, I do not have the right player to play any of the files.

My guess is that his original powers were probably throw and cryo freeze. He was probably intended to be the second half of the sentinel arsenal to Miranda. I wouldn't be surprised if Legion was supposed to have incinerate and AI hacking as well rather than the combat drone.... but instead they decided to give that to Mordin and make him more of an engineer.

I'm not using Shockwave or Pull. I'm using Heavy Charge, Champion, and then I'm still working on Reave. Going to build up Incendinary Ammo before working up either Cryo or Shockwave.
I bring Miranda with me everywhere, and normally Garrus (tho I will likely rotate him out for Loyalty missions).
Miranda is a poor subsitute for Kaidan though.

1) Far fewer biotic abilities. In ME1, especially with bonus powers, you could have all but 1 adept power or darn near the fire power of a soldier.
2) Abilities recharge as one. Whereas in ME1 you could lift a dangerous enemy, throw a horde, charge a barrier for protection, and then warp someone for funsies all before starting the cycle over, never leaving yourself without a power. As Kaidan would say, leaving yourself a way out.
The new power, charge, is interesting, but given its explanation I think you should be able to move in more than just one plane.
Reave, which isn't necessarily a vanguard power, is also an interesting new edition. It led to a great many debates in my house as to how it actually works. We finally came to the conclusion that since biotics manipulate gravity, and gravity is one of the forces, and at some point all forces, strong, weak, electromagnetic become the same force, that you are somehow stealing energy from your target.
