So... Line of thought I figured I might share, pessimistic though it may sound.

It seems to me that there's a difference in tone between the ME1 and ME2 LI plots.  I can't really explain what is different about them... except that I know it's there.

But, if anyone else can see what I'm talking about, what are the chances that the continued LI plots for Ash, Kaidan, and Liara in ME3 would have the ME2 tone rather than continuing the ME1 tone?  And... would it make them better or worse?

(I guess discounting that ME3 romances could have their own tone entirely)

There is some differences in the games yes, some subtle, some glaring.  I would prefer a mixture of both.  I would like the feminine Shepard from one and certainly the LI from one.  I don't mind the fighting system for two, but I prefer the freedom of the assignments in one.  I would like to be able to control armor more (take helmet off on planet or change weapon for that matter), but two is more realistic in the weapon loadout.

I like the story more in one is gave more credence to the storyline.  Some of the Assignments in two made no sense and were way too linier (enter here->shoot here->exit here) and I would prefer more freedom in that. 

but then this is just me....

@FireEye...I think they'll make the romances more ME2-like. For one, they seem to be feeling the need to please the shooter crowd - meaning more action, less talk. I think they'll go even further in that direction with ME3 (not too pessemistic I hope^^).

There is also the problem that ME3 is supposed to be stand-alone, just like ME1 and ME2 was, so they have to make it possible for everyone to get to know Liara/Ash/Kaidan (romance reset? T__T).

YAY I caught up on everything! xD Good morning everyone! I see I won't really be able to keep up with this thread until I've played through ME2 *rofl*



Did lotsa loyalty missions yesterday. Got Flycam working, just gotta figure out why my game goes all crazy when I try to screenshoot it -.- Lost Miranda's loyalty though after the Jack/Miri fight. Oh well! Recruited Kasumi and Zaeed. Now only need their and Jacobs loyalty and then see what's next. xD



Went to talk to Thane a lot. I really like the way things develop with him. They aren't as BLUNT or WEIRD as they were with Jacob. At least not yet. And gah, Thane looks HOT! -.-



Tali hit on me but I turned her down first chance I got. Poor gal!



Really HATED Grunts loyalty mission. There's two things I hate when playing Mass Effect. One is having to kill husks while some scion thingy is trying to kill me. And the other is bugs/tresher maws/dogs! I hate when I have to figh those! I really can't say why!

HAHA I killed that beast too! When I heard about the mating invites I nearly spit my coffee all over the keyboard
I wanted to keep both's loyalty though but then realized that I had waited too long because I wanted to avoid the fight and gain enough paragon/renegade points. Big mistakes! Anyway, gonna change that when I'm playing male shep. Then I'll go for the fight early in the game to solve that issue! xD

I like talking to Thane! I can't describe it! My FemShep connected with him on a level she hasn't with Kaidan! And i have to admit that the way he is written, he totally fascinates me! So I'll give it a try.

Than'es romance is probably the best one for femSheps in ME2 but its still just too cheesy for me. None of them beat the Kaidan romance from ME1 so I'm sticking with him. He better show up early as a squadmate in ME3 though.

Kaidan is the best... I just started two new playthrougs in ME1 and the way the romance is developing is just great... sighs... Actually I wanted to play one turn staying single, but I have the feeling I´m going to fail...

Thane´s story is well. I like his character really, and the talks, are fine, but I think he´s still in love with his dead wife and I just couldn´t start a new romance anyway... I want only Kaidan :-)

This sounds like me. I recently finished a ME1 playthru. I was suposed to be single! but no, damn Kaidan, I can't resist when he does the puppy eyes!

I can't do the ME2 romances when I play FemShep. I don't think I have to say anything about the Jacob romance in here .... ^^

Garrus is a friend, I couldn't imagine my FemShep being in love with him that way and I can't talk to Thane because of the Flashbacks. So .... yeah^^



With my MaleShep I can at least do one of the ME2 romances :-)

Tali's romance feels just wrong to me....I mean, seriously? I've said it before (I don't know if it was here) - I talked to her in ME1 about Geth and Quarians....barely noticing her - I gave her the Geth data though. Then I keep the Quarian for interrogation....and say that I'm working with Cerberus. Later I rescue her (and Reegar), but just for that she throws herself at me? It's even more ridiculous when I'm with Liara or Ash with that character which she has to know..... >.<

Miranda is not my kind of romance. These lines Shepard says ..... and then the engine room? nuh uh for me ^^

I really like Jack's romance, though and I also like her character a lot. So, she is the only romance in ME2 I liked.



But that's just imo, of course

Yeah, you are so right...*sighs* . Femshep is such a strong person, but when it comes up to Kaidan she just melts like icecream in the sun and cant´t think straight... *giggles*

yeah, Garrus is like the best buddy for me, Jacob ... Well, that´s just ... No, I don´t need to explain again everybody knows....
I think in one of my next playthroughs I´ve to try a male shep... Just not sure, he´ll get involved with Ash or Liara...Maybe more  Ash, because Liara seems to be so young... In ME2 he would go for Jack, too... Jack is a very interesting person...
Well, and now I better concentrate on work for a little bit...

@Aslan - I've lost count of the number of ME1 playthroughs I started determined not to romance Kaidan but all it takes is that smile in the medbay after Eden Prime and my plans for my Shep to stay single fall to dust, lol.



@Baal - I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand Thane's flashbacks - they annoy the hell out of me, lol. Thank goodness I can skip through them. Garrus is like my Shep's little brother so no romance there. I watched that one on youtube and the cheesiness makes me cringe. Well we really don't need to even mention Jacob, not sure what the writers were thinking for that one, lol
