I was planning on making a save before the suicide mission so I can get it on with Thane, then reload, turn him down and import that savegame into ME3 xD
I was always wondering how that would work out *rofl* I'll just give it a try. But Thane is just awesome. I ADORE him! those lips, his voice....RAWR! and i really like the way he and my femshep interact...i can't describe it. and right now i played the scene where Thane explains what Siha means....NAWWWWW *melts away* I have a thing for stuff like that. I wish I could clone my Femshep. one for Kaidan, one for Thane....OMG multiverse theory.....weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee *runs off to play some more ME2* xD

I found no appeal in the ME2 romances, but at the same time I'm glad I can get to see the whole thing at least and see how different it is to the ME1 writing.

If I had to pick one of the three it would be Garrus, but I have trouble seeing him as more than a best friend to any of my Sheps.

If I had to make a choice, I would choose Thane. Garrus is my femshep´s best friend.

-Right on-topic, I didn't and never will get the paramour achievement. None of the ME2 LIs interested me and I can't get into playing male to do it that way (although even then I'd rather start at ME1 and get Ash!). Oh well, I'm happy to sit, wait and hope for the promised romance arc!

"People are worried that the love interest from the first game is not recruitable as a squad member in the second game. I think people put too much emphasis on whether importance to the story is equated to whether they are a squad member. In Mass Effect 2, it really is about preparing for a suicide mission. It's true that people on your squad are most likely going to die in this final mission. It's not all that hard to make your character survive, but you can die as a permanent death at the end. I think people will have trouble keeping everybody alive. That's a lot trickier.
Because we wanted to make sure the love interest can remain an important and integral part of the story, we want that to continue into the third game. We have some really important things we want to resolve there. That means we can't have these characters that were your love interests in this suicide mission potentially getting killed and then blocking off that opportunity. They're part of the story. They're part of the ongoing love story but they're not your squad members so that we can be sure that we can bring that love story to its conclusion."
But just because you started a relationship with one character, that doesn't mean you'll finish it with him or her. "I also think that some of the very same people who are worried that their love interest from the first one won't be a squad member will probably end up cheating on their love interest from Mass Effect 1 anyway," said Hudson. "The ones in Mass Effect 2 are really compelling. That will be an interesting thing, too, to see whether people can stay true to their Mass Effect 1 love interest on the level that you'd think they would. The great thing is that we can track this with Achievements and find out if people did this."
All of the cheaters out there should prepare to become a statistic. Hudson told IGN that he thinks BioWare will make that data public. "That's part of what we're interested in doing in an ongoing basis," he explained, "to let players see how others are engaging in the Mass Effect story."

I can shut off the game's internet access and get the Paramour badge, and I've been very tempted to do so, but none of the ME2 LIs interest me enough to risk it.

THIS!!!
This is the interview I was talking about! I'm not going to play around with other LIs at the risk of getting another stupid, half-assed, crosseyed cameo.

I think the thing that weirded me out with the ME2 love interests is that the ME1 romance arc felt like a natural progression, whereas the ME2 arcs felt like... I dunno, shopping around. It could be just me, but I don't really see Shepard as that desperate. (Although it could have been different if, you know, she hadn't just been in a relationship.)

Ok, seriously now. Because I cannot fathom why they would need such kind of information. I mean I have couple of ideas, but I can't find words for them. Plus that could finish with ranting. I don't mind hanging in some kinda virtual hall of shame cuz one of my or my bf's saves dinged a paramour involving cheating. But now I feel like kind of... Pavlov's dog or something.
And, maybe that's one of the reason some of the ME2 romances are poorly written. =3

Bah, that whole thing of using achievements for stats is just so bs that everyone who ever had something serious to do with statistics could tell you. *grumbles but won't start a lecture*
This is my first BW game ever I didn't get the romance done btw. Not because of said interview but because the romances aren't that interesting for me.
On a related note; a reminder for jilly
If you could find where this comes from when you're home, I'll be happy to read itjillyfae wrote...
It was strongly implied by Hudson in an interview I cannot find at the moment that the romance for the ME1 LI's was only going to be available in ME3 if you'd triggered it in the first game.

need clear separation of the characters and the players.
this is like saying because someone who uses a public computer has a facebook account and i use that same computer that ergo i have facebook too. my main didn't cheat. my maleshep was not an import and so he romanced miri. how can you justify that the me1 LIs were all "cheated" on with that kind of record keeping?
makes no sense.
