Now now, did we just took a part in some kind of social experiment?

yep, we did!

I don't know if I should feel bad or... violated XD

Ok, seriously now. Because I cannot fathom why they would need such kind of information. I mean I have couple of ideas, but I can't find words for them. Plus that could finish with ranting. I don't mind hanging in some kinda virtual hall of shame cuz one of my or my bf's saves dinged a paramour involving cheating. But now I feel like kind of... Pavlov's dog or something.
And, maybe that's one of the reason some of the ME2 romances are poorly written. =3

Welcome to Marketing 101?  Methinks that's why they are tracking.  In the past they used to check the threads, now they can check the threads AND the numbers via achievements to see what people liked etc.

I don't care about the Paramour achievement.  I watched the Youtube versions of the other romances and was grateful to have stayed faithful and not experienced any of them, including Thane's, first hand.  I'm with Night on this although I don't think Lizard when I see Thane.  I think frog . But they already violated my Sheps for not letting her turn down TIM at the beggining of the game at the first place :D
I can already hear that: "because Shepard is reasonable and willing to do everything to defeat the Reapers"
But this?... This is starting to transform from a game to romance drama. Oh sorry. It already did.

It was strongly implied by Hudson in an interview I cannot find at the moment that the romance for the ME1 LI's was only going to be available in ME3 if you'd triggered it in the first game.

If you could find where this comes from when you're home, I'll be happy to read it :)

I don't remember seeing this at all, and I've followed all of the ME2 pre-release things and anything relevant post-ME2, so I'd like to see this too.

Because someone in your household looked at [Miri/Jacob/Jack/Garrus/Tali/Thane] the "right" way while playing ME2 at some time, every save game available in your household gets branded with the Paramour achievement. Now you will be forever known as The Cheater. This variable with be inserted in your ME3 play throughs. You can get the The Cheater achievement by trying to pursue an ME1 LI as romance in ME3, who will then lecture you on your cheating behaviour. After that, they will turn you down and go make babies with some doctor on the citadel.

This.

And it concerns me because this thread is such a minority compared to all the "shootah" and "dat ass/girl on girl/space elf" fans that I'm afraid we'll be drowned out by all of the static and that we'll be pretty much last on the priority list.

That's another reason I don't have a save game where I'm cheating. If I do, I'm just shooting myself in the foot.

For threads they know it is only a small percentage of players posting. Actual tracking of achievements can be useful of sorts, and I'm sure every game developer uses it in some variety, but the conclusion of Paramour achievement equals cheating is just plain wrong.

/I said this already didn't I? I'll stop... :?

You don't have to stop. It's a legitimate concern, one that quite a lot of us have.

I don't know who is more foolish: TIM trusting Shepard's reasonability, or Shepard trusting TIM because he said so.  Seriously - add some blackmail, or threats, or poisonous implants that Mordin* has to remove or something. Lie.  Say you aren't Cerberus.  Say you're Alliance, and let us be shocked on Horizon to realize the truth.  Make it actual-dark and edgy instead of pseudo-dark and edgy.

*would not have worked on my Shepard, but it would have been something better than, "Go to this colony and see for yourself; you trust me, right?"

And a Kaidan, who is suspicious and would not be lured in by TIM:

Well that profile of mine is not existing since months (not that it matters anyway), I imported again, changed class, even wrote her a background and created a FB page :) I started to appreciate the story and the characters quite late - after first completion of the game.

-Right on-topic, I didn't and never will get the paramour achievement. None of the ME2 LIs interested me and I can't get into playing male to do it that way (although even then I'd rather start at ME1 and get Ash!). Oh well, I'm happy to sit, wait and hope for the promised romance arc!

That's what the Cerberus network is; the data goes to the devs from there I think. Also, it's easy to access someone's gamer profileon XBL. The stats don't go through the BSN though.

It's just Casey saying that though... he's also said that asari were asexual and mixed up Tali and Liara in an interview.

My guess is that they have access to people's import data and endgame data via the Cerberus network. I could be completely off base with this though but it makes sense.

Yeah they have to realise that a lot of people who played ME1 will have more than 1 character, so I don't think you're main Shepard will be penalised for cheating if your Sheploo did. If your femShep didn't cheat it won't be in the game data that gets transferred over to ME3 for that character.

@Fort - Casey also said the ME2 LI's were compelling and that you would have to work really hard to get your all of your squad out alive at the end, lmao

well, i can sympathize a little. seriously, he can make all the slip ups on the spot that he likes. just so long as we get a satisfactory end to our shenko.

somehow, i just see them having some really dramatic "you cheated" scenarios just because they're twisted like that. ashley with an AR confronting tali comes to mind.

I personally doubt it will be anything too dramatic, if there's a 'confrontation' at all.

@sage: thanks for posting your new chapter(s), they made a lot of sense for me and ME2 actually.

*waves hands wildly*

Hi you!!!! :D

I agree. I doubt they'll put that much effort into it. It'll probably be just a "Choose one" situation or the ME1 LI relationship will be permanently closed off without chance of making up. :?

He said it himself, the replaybility of ME series was to find out the different options and dialogs, so that means people is going to have many playthroughs to find different things...Of course they are going to have a main playthrough...But they don't get that.
And yes it was sooooo hard to save everyone.<_<

Well what really sucked is because of the controversy they downgraded the sex scenes. I mean they were complaining about a bit of nakedness that showed like a third of a side boob. I want a sex scene like the ME1 to come back
