Kaidan Alenko Support Thread Part 2

I agree. There seem to be a lot of people that left an ME1 LI that want their new LI to beat the old one up because they think it'd be funny or that they want to see the old one humiliated. It's the people with this attitude that I hope get dumped by *both* LIs.
But if that isn't feasible, I want to see a mature conversation between three adults about what happened and have it be left at that so that a huge deal isn't made out of it.
Regardless of what they do, I believe the consequences should be on the player (Shepard), not on the LIs.

Or they're disenchanted and not idealistic at all.

Is it... wrong of me to hope for Horizon-esque Shepard dialogue choices?

But ME2 didn't even have confrontations between its own LIs.
Yes, it did. If you were reomtely nice to Liara along with the Virmire Survivor, you got a confrontation after the third planet (as long as that third planet wasn't Virmire and the LI died), with Liara and, in my case, Kaidan.
I usually led her on (meta-gaming), because I find the scene funny. My Sheps led her on because they missed the OMG-I-WANT-TO-HAVE-YOUR-BLUE-BABIES hints she was dropping.
She's talking about the second game, where LIs just refuse to talk to you until you've broken things off with the other LI. I like what Thane says about "the eyes of another are upon you" (or something like that, I never played it myself). I wish I could use that line in real life.
Reading comprehension is not my strong suit tonight.

You want Kirk!Shepard to speak derp if there's a confrontation?
I see no problem with this

And who like to choose serial killers over protectors, letting a refinery full of people burn to death so a jerk can get revenge, choose to give a pro-human terrorist group technology that will make them dominant over every other species rather than destroy said technology because it could indoctrinate others.

And as far as Kaidan goes, I woldn't want him subjected to something so silly. A lot of fangirls want it just out of spite.
THIS. so this.
i think a lot of people feel guilt for leaving their me1 LI, so they want some totally lame scene where their me1 LIs comes off as dumb to totally justify their leaving said person.
that is my freshman psych 101 attempt to understand this.
i mean really, if you left your me1 LI, then just admit it: either you thought your shep was a better fit for someone else and moved on after horizons OR your shep is just a jerk who can't go for six months without getting laid. either way, admit it, and don't drag the me1 LI into some stupid confrontation over it.
ashley is the only one i could see getting confrontational. i jsut don't see liara or kaidan getting all that mad.
and re: renegade, i think it depends on which decisions you're talking about. i always play straight paragon, but i see renegade as the option that make sense, but is the easy and solid way out. paragon choices require quite a leap of faith, i think (Rachi queen?, can beat reapers w/o reaper technology?). i don't do them because i jsut...well, like kyrie shep, i'm a total idealist in spite of everything, but i completely understand the renegade choice all the same. sometimes, i feel like perhaps shep should be the one to make those choices so that other people don't have to.
but i'm never the one who does.
edit to fix it to the proper you're/your. english major training never goes away

Yeah, I just... I don't see it as funny, and I don't get a kick out of imaginging any of the LIs being humiliated, especially the ME1 Lis, who have already had a rough time of things. Two years of a rough time.
A lot of the spite seems so juvenile, like what you'd see in highschool. I don't play games to relive highschool, especially not sci-fi games involving full-grown adults. The ME1 confrontation was pretty well done, but hamming up romantic drama would just make everything feel gratuitous and sleazy.
If a Shep has left Kaidan then that Shep can just suck it up and live with it. Move on. He's not a toy to be batted around. He deserves better than that. There's no reason to drag things out except for your own amusement.
Of course he'll be hurt and wonder about what-ifs, but he's Kaidan ****ing Alenko and he has energy legs.

Actually, Horizon hurt. I played ME1 hundreds of times and made about 12 Sheps total (I played it every Saturday and Sunday morning for three years). I romanced Kaidan with all of them. I liked the character, I loved his romance.
Horizon was a kick in the quad.
Meghan was the one who got Horizon first and got to live through me being VERY upset at a bunch of pixels. It was only after that I remembered she was the one character for whom Kaidan wasn't a good fit so she could move on. I'm glad Avery wasn't my experimental character.
The only other game to get that reaction from me was DA:O when Alistair dumped my elfmage.
So, no. It's not guilt at "cheating" for most of them. It's revenge. They all liked him and Horizon pissed them all off. Guilt doesn't enter into it. Vengeance does.
I've seen Ashley's scene. It's not remotely as harsh as Kaidan's. Maybe it's Sbarge's voice and his ability to project emotion better than Ashley's actor.
I, however, don't want such a confrontation for Meghan, Garrus and Kaidan. I think it would cheapen all three.

but does meghan really want to see kaidan humiliated? i ask this honestly, becuase i still don't think horizons deserves revenge. not at kaidan, anyhow. maybe at some writers, but not kaidan.

Read my last line.
I do not want vengeance. I'm not a vengeful person. Meghan sees it as a relationship ending confrontation. Avery sees it as a fight. Not even right after Horizon did I want him harmed.
And FYI: I replayed Moira from scratch to get her her handsome prince back. I don't do vengeance.
My point to you, Sage, was that Horizon pissed off a lot of otherwise happy Kaidan fangirls. I got over it, most didn't. (After all, it IS a game and kudos to the writers for effecting me that thoroughly) It's not guilt that makes them want the confrontation, it's anger and a desire for revenge.

I was upset at Kaidan for not listening after the initial shock to both parties (yeah her dialog might have been lame, but if she was trying to convince herself he moved on it makes a little more sense, she didn't want to get hurt) Shepard may have been shocked that he was so angry, but my thing was that when she tried to explain, he didn't even want to listen. If he loved her so much that he couldn't even go out with anyone and then only for drinks, you would think he would be a lot more interested in what the frak happen. Besides, he is the one that always wanted to be understanding.
Edit cause I forgot.
Was I pissed off, not really shock was the feeling I had at first. It was only when I thought about each point that was made that I got angry, mostly cause you can't recipricate, and even then not really at Kaidan but at the situation they found themselves in. Then I got the letter and I was like, okay well, we will see. Let's go kill us some Collectors.

Kaidan: Wait. They want us to fight?
Garrus: Apparently so.

That's all right. I feel like an idiot for getting my feelings hurt by a video game character.
I'm grateful, though, without Horizon as the original dividing point between Meghan and Avery, I wouldn't be writing them as separate and coherent characters.

It wasn't the demon baby thing. It was the dumping Moira. Not to mention doing it in front of our entire team.
